Raids and Matchmaking

Have "Raids: Matchmaking" & "Raids: Clan". I'm in a clan (Join: http://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Post/162357/67307809/0/0 )...but some people may not have 5 other friends or the time to find a clan. I don't think that people should be kept away from end game stuff if they paid full price for the game just like the rest of us. Make a matchmaking section that is easier with less/not as good loot. Clan section has best stuff. Everyone plays all content. Everyone wins.

  • If they are going to hold this they have got to add a chat option so we can look for groups. Otherwise a large chunk of people will never get to do the raids.

    Have you ever attempted a Raid? Check a few MMO raids on YouTube there are 1000s. In overview Raids require; - recon - analysis - planning - skill assessment - role/task assignment - team building - teamwork - practice - dedication - patience - enjoy learning from failed Raids There is as much work to do as a team offline as there is playing the raid on line. People who enjoy Raids love the all the tasks above. They feel the offline preparation is as much fun as online execution. Put simply Raids are not everyones cup of tea. That's because thumb skills come second. It's simply not possible to have an enjoyable and successful raid with randoms because raids require such a high degree of team based execution using premeditated game plans based on lots of prework and practice. My view is that most folks who run the argument "I paid so I should be able to Raid (with randoms)" will play one Raid and say "Nuh this is not for me". Bungie are making it very clear prior to purchase what we a getting wrt Raids. Everybody has the opportunity to form a Raid Team or join a Raiding Clan and so has equal opportunity to put in the work required to Raid. No one is stopping you or me from Raiding or asking us to pay money for content we can't access and play. At the end of the day Bungie is telling us clearly what they are selling. All we need to do is to decide whether or not to buy the product they are offering.

And it isn't all content if you split it into divisions of clans and not, now is it? I want a group finder/match making like thing, where I can talk to people on a whim who understand how hard Raids will be and be able to root out the one's who are unskilled. Bungie as a business, that needs my money to survive, should be making a product that appeals to the biggest amount of people which are the casuals, and every part of their game should be open to them. In all honesty, this seems like it's alienating part of the audience, and everyone knows "audience is all". Above all, to those who said matchmaking is a horrible idea, I respect your opinion! But, in all sincerity, if an option is there and you don't want to participate, then do not. Also, don't try to limit how others may want to play the game.

    • I just wanna find enough guys that I get along with and genuinely want to beat the raid like me. I don't have but a few friends that are able to handle themselves in that kind of situation. Finding people is the problem...

    • I try not to be a jerk but dude... That philosophy sounds like little league soccer. Everyone wins! There are no losers in the world kids! No one keeps score, everyone gets a trophy, and all your efforts will be rewarded and life will just be handed to you. Lol not the message anyone should be sending. Life just doesn't work like that. It's a dog eat dog world. Try harder.

        • I had to two man or solo so many Strikes in the beta. And on several occasions in the Crucible people would be afk or leave. These are all activities that are over with pretty quick. Strikes usually never lasting much longer than 30 minutes. Now if there were that many people leaving those short activities, I guarantee there will be a LOT more leaving raids which will take several hours to complete. And in raids it's not fair to people who want to see the whole thing to have a join in progress mode. So in short... Matchmaking simply doesn't work for raids.

          • I don't want anything being easier but I agree 100% that we shouldn't be excluded from playing Raids if we don't have enough friends online or we don't want to deal with the headache of Xbox One's party system. Raids should have matchmaking plain and simple. To be told we cannot experience a part of the game for whatever reason isn't fair. If we get destroyed in Raids in matchmaking so be it but don't tell me I can't try. Maybe they can't figure out how to get mics to work in matchmaking like in the Crucible so this is an easy out but I sure hope not.

                • What needs to happen is Bungie needs a Survival or Endless Horde Mode for Matchmaking. As it progresses it gets harder and harder till you finally reach a point where you either bug out or you band together to push on to the really big prizes. Only a hardcore player with the best gear from around the game itself is going to reach the third hour if there's no respawning and it's player revival only. Put a raid gear drop on the last super boss and see who going to have what it takes to reach that last hour. That's how Randoms in Matchmaking should have access to end gear items if they don't want to take on a Raid that focuses on team work for puzzle solving.

                  • Here is the link for a you tube video discussing the vault of glass raid: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yAjJNyJoYeI It was pre-beta so about halfway through the video the discussion becomes obsolete. The guy brings up what the beta might be like and promotes his other videos. The beginning is very informative though.

                  • Yes, make PvE irrilevant and -blam!-ing easy, trow away any depth you could hope to get in PvE and make it impossible to hold on until next patch. Why not just trow away PvE since we are at it News: WE HAVE EASIER RAIDS, IT'S STRIKE MISSIONS!
