Is it really that bad to have a negative K/D? When playing control I always go for caps over kills because that's the point of the game type. And generally I end up with 10+ assists because my teamates always steal my kill at the last second. I feel like people judge a players skill solely based on their K/D which is a little unfair...

What happened to the good ole days when playing to win meant something? F a K/D.

You can also points for your team in control by getting kills and assists. Its not just capturing

I suck badly in MP but I don't care because I have fun. KDR means nothing to me. It's all about fun

Edited by Patjoew: 7/24/2014 1:21:05 PMThe game is just Team Death match with extra points for those who have most flags.. Play with a full fire team cap 1 flag make sure you don't die you win the match. So yes it does matter if you die more then you kill if you want to win the match. I just enjoy the game even tho i almost never fall below 1 unless i let my friends play which is all good

Edited by Heavens Remors: 7/24/2014 1:16:12 PMTo me k/d un destiny pvp is not hugely important (at least not in the Capture mode). I have a higher score than the entire other team, but my k/d came out to be .93. So, I focus on having fun, clearing bounties, and winning the game over pure k/d.
-
No one actually has a negative K/D.... It's just less than 1.0. Just saying. Oh and the point of control is to kill people, with points. The main part is killing though because that's how you score the points.
-
It's just another stat really personally I feel like no matter what your K/D is as long as you do what you have to do to complete your bounty and claim rewards for your guardian no offense to destiny but if I'm going to actually try hard in competitive mode I'd rather do that in CoD where it actually counts.

Not if your having fun!!!

6 RepliesI'm gonna have a bad KD regardless cos I'm stuck with a bloody scout rifle

Capping points in control isn't like say domination. You only get points when you kill someone. So if you hold one point and get a kill you get 100 points. If you hold two then you would get 200 points. But if you cap you only get 75. So if you cap a point and die. The other team gets 100 points and you only get 75. So really the object of this game is to not die.

If you're worrying about k/d you have already lost, thinking about K/D can steal the split second you need to win. The capture system is meant to keep fluid movement of players during a team death match game, those who camp die, those who keep moving will win. *excluding the moon* which we all know is a sniper map meant to pit snipers against each other and over powered vehicles. JUST PLAY TO WIN AND GIVE IT YOUR ALL AND YOU WILL ALWAYS SUCCEED. Whether you ensure victory while honing your skills or learn a lesson from a painful defeat as long as you improve your self, k/d doesn't matter, it only shows where you have been not where you are now.
-
Well mines 200.00 work that out lol
-
Actually not really, because you could hold all flags the whole game but if the other team kills you more the get more points and are definitely going to win, neutralizing and capturing a flag only give you 100 points, while killing someone usually give you like 200.
-
Eh, control is half about kills, half about capturing points. But no, @/D isn't super important. I just like to keep mine positive because I rarely can. Destiny is one of the few games I seem to be able to do really well in multiplayer.
-
3 RepliesActually killing people is the point. Holding the positions just multiply the score per kill.
-
The captures don't get you score as far as i know. It just multiplies your teams kill scores
-
2 RepliesI do both, check out my K/D its a 7.0
-
8 RepliesMost The time a high k/d means they don't play the objective to me just sit in the edge picking people off
-
Honestly I'll back out of a match if my teammates have low K/Ds. I don't mind losing, but losing a close match is better than getting stomped on. I don't judge players solely on K/D but you can get a general idea of how effective that teammate will be based on their K/D; either they're good at getting kills, good at playing the obj, or they suck. I was never one to take K/D seriously, but getting destroyed by the other team because your teammates are bad just isn't fun at all, at least by seeing their K/D I have a general idea of what to expect.
-
1 ReplyIt means your not going to get team invs. Dead people can't cap.
-
2 RepliesK/D means nothing. Having fun means everything.
-
That's great that you go by the PTFO rule. But if you can't get a kill...How are you gonna get the objected? NVM the steal killing, you still get points right? Isn't that why your capping? It isn't camping if you're defending a objective. I just wanted to get that by because hardcore gamers can sometimes be idiots. I never defend unless I know the enemies coming to the objective that i'm standing on or we hold all objectives. But creating a post like this is like yelling "I SUCK!"

Idk why, but I'm horrible in PvP with this game. I'm good with most games like Halo and BF4, but I can't stay alive for two seconds without getting shot in the back. It seems a more and more like CoD the more I play the PvP.
-
K/D is huge in control since it's directly tied to how the scoring works. You dying all the time just gives the other team more points. Either learn to read the radar and map better, or sit back at whatever position you have and protect it.
-
1 ReplyPvp in this game is awful so I wouldn't worry about it.

Negative K/D is the only way I roll bro.
