However, I think this image exaggerates Ancalagon and understates Glaurung's size.

Smaug's size, IIRC, is ~18 meters. So I guess that's your scale...
-
Smaug is that little speck?!!! 0_o Well, shit. We're screwed.
-
Hopefully the biggest one wants to be buddies, otherwise we're FREAKIN' SCREWED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Doubtful. Ancalagon's had to be one of the biggest - if not biggest - Dragon during that time as his fall alone destroyed the Towers of Thangorodrim.
-
Awwww Smaug is just so tiny!!! ^-^ can I keep him?
-
1 ReplyWell it may help others understand his size if you put the original art that Ancalagon came from. It shows the giant eagles (which are pretty small compared to him), and that's just the peak of the mountain his claw's on. He is, however, supposed to be extremely large. If I remember correctly, Tolkien states his wings can blot out the sun. Also, he managed to crush the towers of Thangorodrim which were three mountain tops when he fell. But, Tolkien also never states how large Ancalagon exactly is beyond that really.
