Look, I know there's been a lot of heat since this announcement of the Early Beta access crap for PS4. Thing is, I've been gaming since Halo came out. The reason I owned an Xbox, or even an Xbox 360, was because I knew Halo was there. I started when I was 8, so I've been a loyal Bungie fan since then. But I've never held ties to Microsoft, only Bungie. The community these people have made, how tightly nit they've been in my life and the lives of all their loyal fans is what has inspired me to want to be a game developer. I admit, it sucks that exclusivity is an issue for most, and I realize it wasn't a move that was decided entirely by Bungie. The marketing guys at Activision are playing a game with the Sony loyal to achieve a conversion over those people who would normally think "Bungie is just a Halo studio" or "Bungie only makes games for the Xbox". Thing is though, as I've said I don't hold the same ties to Bungie as some do when it comes to their legacy. I see what I've always seen, a group of people dedicated to its community, developing games that will transcend a generation of gaming to bring an experience like no other. We saw that with Halo, which beyond a shadow of a doubt is still my favorite franchise, despite me dropping it after Halo 4. Back in 2007, despite me not having a cable connection, I eventually upgraded to one just to play Halo 3 online, and since I had shared in many battles across matchmaking and custom games, enjoying co-op with friends and experiencing the amazement of what Bungie has achieved in what was just a 7 year span of the series at the time. But that's my point, why all this infighting going on when we know Bungie is a company dedicated to our hopes, our aspiration to experience something new, something grand within the game space they create, no matter what platform you're on? Sure, it sucks not having the beta in your hands at first, but seriously, think about what this studio has brought you in the past, despite where your loyalty may lie in the platform, it should be Bungie that you set your eyes on, not what system you play Destiny on. (Although, I'm a PC gamer now, so having a port to PC is what I'd be most interested in) If you really feel so strong against the idea of Bungie expanding, not being held down by a publisher like they were with Microsoft on the Halo franchise, then I don't know how to feel about you. Honestly, we can achieve more by learning from the Bungie way of things. Be for YOUR community, not against the other. Halo wasn't made by Bungie to kill Sony (though it sure was paid by Microsoft to try to) it was made by the loving folks at Bungie to continue delivering those experiences that has made them always great to be with since they started it all. So please, guys, lets not fret about such things, lets only hope the world will still be here on September 9th to make this adventure possible. Because we all know, only such catastrophe can kill a great thing, and Destiny will surely be the greatest thing yet. Oh, and on a side note, I just met recently with an ex Forge Hub map maker in the old days. Not sure if any of you know yet, but those guys are super excited to come back into the fray and share more in the Bungie love! In fact, it kinda amazed me he knew who I was. See I use to be a serious ranked gamer in Halo 3. I was one of the first in the playlist to achieve a General ranking, and that was mostly achieved in Lone Wolves. In my first game ever I had met with a dude who would have played thousands of hours as my co-op, doubles, team slayer, big team battle, grifball, sidekick, and along the road another mate who shared in it all too. We were a three man death squad, hunting KSI and HLG punks who tried to ruin the scene and we were victorious. My OG GT, DFA CQB. My pals, DFA HEADSTR0NG and Sarrows. Unfortunately, I lost contact with HEADSTR0NG, Sarrows is still here, though, uncertain of whether or not he's gonna be on the Destiny scene. Me though, my body is ready. I will take what I've learned from Halo, become a guardian, and smite the forces of Darkness. I and my Forge Hub friends will take the fight across the stars. We will rise victorious as we once were. It is our Destiny. Love to you Bungie, keep up the amazing work. <3
