It seems like everyone is having there debates on this topic. Here's what I think for anyone who cares.
I had a ps1 then moved to the original xbox. When 360 came out I moved to that and stuck to that. It had the games I wanted to play and I felt like the online experience was superior to what ps offered.
Many people are discussing the advantages and disadvantages to both the next gen systems. They both look awesome to me and I probably would have got the Xbox, but it wasn't the graphics or the game library that changed my mind. (Both systems will be neck and neck judging by those things). What changed my mind was how Microsoft seems to not care for the gamer at this point. It was the whole fiasco with not being able to trade games and all that. I know they back peddled and changed it and I've loved xbox forever but it's hard to support a company that wants to do that when there's a pretty much equal product that hasn't shown any signs that they are trying to take advantage of the gamers.
What do you guys think?

7 RepliesI cannot agree with what you said about Microsoft not caring about the gamer. It would have its drawbacks, not being able to resell your games, but the upsides would have been (IMO) worth it. They seemed like they wanted to follow in Steams footsteps. I really wish they had not backstepped. The ideas they said they talked about after they changed their minds seemed really awesome and what you would expect from the future of gaming. I think that Microsoft has showed time and time again that they are listening and thinking about the gamer in all that they do for the xbox. Im not saying that Sony has not done that also, and I know that both systems are, in the end, amazing machines. The reasons why I am getting the Xbone tomorrow night and not the PS4 last week are all small reasons. 1. Microsoft has proven (in my eyes) that they can run a great network and have a great online experience. Im sure that Sony has upped thier game with the PS+, but about a year ago, they had the big hacking attack that took their online play down and possibly gave out a lot of personal info. 2. My friends. I know, dont follow the flock, but in this case, it is a good idea (for me). I get to keep up with all of my friends from college. Also, have you tried jumping into a matchmaking game by yourself lately? More times than not, you are put in a team where nobody has a mic or they sound like they are 12 years old and want to do unspeakable things to my mother... 3. Halo. Its the game that got me invested in being a gamer. I know that H4 was lacking in many ways, but I am a sucker for the Chief. I also love playing Grifball. I know that the PS4 is going to be a great system and I love that both Microsoft and Sony are fighting like crazy to prove they have the best system. That can only mean good things for the gamers down the line.

1 ReplyDon't forget both Sony and Microsoft are both corporations that care about making money first. If they seem like they care about the gamer, it's because that generates more money. Sony shelled out huge money to lure diehard xbox and Bungie fanboys to their console by teasing us with early beta access and exclusive content. Same with Xbox, they reversed DRM because they were about to get screwed with lost customers to Sony... not because they care. I think exclusives, controller comfort, user interface, and the robustness of the online experience should say what you pick. Therefore I picked xbox as my launch console. I also have a real job now as opposed to 18-year-old me when the 360 launched and I will be able to buy both systems for exclusives. Gotta have those naughty dog games and that early beta access!

1 ReplyFirst, I have a dream that one day Team Watts and Team Derrick can pick up their sticks in the great announcement of Destiny cross-platform play! But until then, here are my thoughts on which console to play Destiny on for me. The majority of public decisions on the console wars are driven by corporate tribalism, not logic. We're all familiar with fanboy rants and conversely, I'm a fan of both consoles and also own them both for specific reasons. When it comes to Destiny however, I have a clear choice, here's how I see it: Consoles Let's be real, the consoles are the same, both awesome in terms of performance, both with their own amazing titles. Any arguments on tech specs are negligible, I own and play both and they're *$@&ing great looking. I would buy a PS4 alone for Naughty Dog titles and the Xbox for others, the value of exclusives are completely subjective which is why again, I think they're completely equal. What console for Destiny? This was an easy choice for me, not because I think either console is better, but given Destiny is an online only game and a first person shooter, those are indicators to me that I should play on Xbox One. Why? It's completely subjective, but let's address the aforementioned game elements. - FPS!: Anyone in this forum is going to be playing this game for a long time, spending all sorts of hours on the couch. For me, my preferred shooter controller is Xbox's, the 360 controller was my previous shooter favorite, and now after playing with both controllers I definitely prefer the Xbox One. It might be the familiar layout, or the asymmetrical sticks, or the triggers - I don't really know, it's just a preference. If I'm going to be spending the kind of hours I think on Destiny I have to do it on the shooter controller of preference. - Destiny is an online only multiplayer game: If Destiny is all about online play, then I also tend to lean towards the Xbox. After years of owning both last gen consoles I feel like Microsofts online platform has been better. It makes sense though when you consider Sony is a badass electronics company and Microsoft's bread and butter is enterprise software+services, so having that company history definitely helps Xbone out. I also considered the PS4 exclusive stuff too, and although there may be some type of value in it, I've never found timed exclusives to be any big deal on other games in the past, and in all honesty, I wouldn't make a decision on such a short term gain. In reality, I might get it on both anyway for my different groups of friends, but my "main" will be on Xbox simply because of the controller and my past experience with online play. Queue fanboy rants...

1 ReplyHalo was my only draw card for the 360. All my friends are on playstation 3. And after seeing h4, ontop of finding out h5 has an even shorter development period that the rushed h4, I may plain ditch the franchise, and thus the console. And since Destiny is coming to playstation AND giving them special treatment, I don't intend to look back unless 343 make something amazing.

6 RepliesI don't agree with Microsoft not caring about the gamer, that is their main priority. I believe that all those changes they were originally making, which are going to be standard on consoles later down the line, weren't really ever implemented, but rather it was a test I see what people thought of them. I got a PS4, and so far, it has been a lack luster experience. It had no good exclusive launch titles. Sure it has Killzone, but since playing that, it's an average game that I just can't really get into. I've played more Warframe, which was free, then a game I payed $64.19 for. I've always been an Xbox fan, I've always had an Xbox and tonight I'll be getting the Xbox One. The only reason I got a PS4 is because my manager convinced me and I wanted to play the Play Station exclusives. Also, I'm getting Destiny for both consoles to be able to play the additional content and with all my friends. What gets me the most is that Sony fans aren't complaining they now have to pay to play online which cost just as much as a subscription to Xbox LIVE. I was expecting to not have to buy a subscription to Sony and when I found that out I almost canceled my PS4 pre-order.
