Will music play more of a role in later wars and battles?
This thought occurred to me while I was walking back home from the store not too far away, and I thought "music during Vietnam probably played an interesting role for morale and the soldiers during the time, I wonder how much though." And it occurred to me how it's odd that I don't know if we still play tunes and songs during battles or times of respite to raise morale.
What kind of impact do you think it had then and could potentially have later on?

When we passed over into Iraq over the Kuwait border during the Gulf War our armored divisions were blasting "Flight of the Valkyries" it was probably quite the amazing sight...

It has and more than likely always will. It serves as a morale boost for troops.

4 RepliesI have a cousin who was in Iraq when the fighting was still heavy over there. He said they used to mount speakers from their barracks and drive through towns know to be hostile towards the US at night playing the heaviest screamo they could get their hands on

4 RepliesEdited by steampunksniper: 8/27/2013 4:51:16 AMmusic always had a impact on people, especially soldier. from pre-history- people sang hymns and chants to stir the soul(moral) antiquity- songs of valor and great heroes(inspire) classical era- lots of folk songs and short sing song lyrics to show stuff like nationalism(Yankee doodle for example) modern times- usually anti war songs to show the human compassion for one another(fortunate son maybe)

1 ReplyI don't think there will ever be a time where again where army's have people playing drums and shit, the future of music in war will probably be pretty close to where it's at today. Soldiers enjoying music in their own time on their Ipods or cd players or whatever they can get over there.

They still play alot of music in the humvees and I think choppers good for morale especially the songs made during Nam
