What the hell:
Chick-Fil-A, the disturbingly delicious fast food chicken chain and protector of traditional family values, does not approve of things like gay marriage. They do, apparently, approve of sons and their moms dressing up like knights and queens and then going out on dates together, because they just instituted the infinitely disturbing “Date Knight” promotion.
Yes, at 49 of the company's DC-area restaurants (and select other locations), customers are encouraged — actively encouraged — to dress up in medieval garb and go on mother-son dates to Chik-Fil-A, obviously. From the actual press release sent by the actual company:
"During this special medieval-themed evening, moms and their sons are encouraged to spend some time together while they enjoy dinner, great conversation and several special activities. Every Mother-Son pair will also receive a place mat with fun questions and topics to get the conversation started, and a take-home booklet that provides ideas for future dates and questions that both moms and their sons can ask each other.”

1 ReplyI don't like this chicken place, but this doesn't seem wrong at all. Garland you're looking for a reason to get mad.
-
You're all just jealous your moms can never be that cool.
-
This is why they've been going downhill lately...

2 RepliesChick-Fil-A: Anti gay marriage and pro incest. Not that I have a problem with (consensual) incest, but that's kinda weird to support incest over being gay
-
Anyone heard of Mother's Day? Of course, that has nothing to do with it..
-
It's amazing how some people are dumb enough to blow this way out of context.

This isn't incest, it's moms taking their little kids out to dinner. FFS.

I go out for lunch with my mother often enough. Lrn2adult

Whats wrong with a mom taking her kid out to eat again?

2 RepliesSeems like the only ones seriously taking this to mean Chick-Fil-A supports incest are those that were/are pissed at them for the whole "some of their money funded anti-gay groups" thing :/.

Spending quality time with your mother who birthed you into this world=dating her. What the hell...
-
Dressing up and going to Chick Fil A = incest? Although that would explain their new Oedipus meal with free Hamlet fries.
-
3 RepliesI don't see the issue here they are encouraging moms to spend time with their sons. OP I seriously hope you spend some time with your mom at a nice restaurant from time to time. Though based on how it seems like you view this as a bad thing your relationship with your mother must be shit.
-
Let's calm down. Mother-son dating doesn't immediately mean incest.
-
Lol at anyone who takes this seriously or actually thinks poorly of it at all. There's nothing wrong here.
-
Moms take their kids out all the time. What's wrong with that?
-
How is this different from those etiquette classes parents can take with their kids? Sure its BEYOND cheesy to do it at a freaking fast food restaurant (and I don't get the medieval crap) but its hardly support for incest.

Edited by MongotheDread: 4/26/2013 10:30:18 PMLol at people taking this the wrong way. It's not incest. It's not like they are promoting a sexual relationship between mothers and sons. I go on "dates" with my mother all the time. It's just a way for mothers to bond with their kids. Silly Flood. And yes, I refuse to call you people anything else. Edit: I just read the article and Lol, there is no way I am taking this seriously.

3 RepliesHow is this different to going to prom with parents exactly?

Edited by Coup de Grace: 4/26/2013 10:12:32 PMThat's how you raise your son and teach him to treat a lady the right way. It's just a little play-date with your mom, and it normally only happens for kids between 7 and 10 years old. It's like practicing for a real date. That's what the booklet is for: When the kid actually goes on a real date It's very odd that they made a promotion for this, though... Well, if someone had to do it, I'd expect Chik-Fil-A to do it. They're so old-fashioned.
-
i assume that this is some poorly thought out promotion designed to promote interest in the arts/literature(hamlet, McBeth Oedipus Rex, etc.)? well, not the worst things corporations have done.
-
Incest is wincest, after all.

I'm going to assume these people have never heard of Mom Proms?
