Renegades was a great drop. There are issues and the game is different now but this was opportunity to build playerbase trust again. It’s been squandered.

12 RepliesI'm glad you enjoyed the Season of Renegades. That being said, I don't think Renegades ever had a chance to build back player trust. An IP ripping off another IP, and not in an inspirational way, almost like a copy paste, was not gonna work. At least that's my opinion.

3 RepliesThere is so little to do, especially as I play solo. Three match made fireteam activities in the portal on a limited rotation (Glassway again!), and one of them being Reclaim which is gash. I’ve resorted to doing multiple different builds just to make things interesting. Also levelled up my hunter to play that as well. Titan next I guess. The seasonal activity is spectacularly dull. At this point I have every possible roll of every available weapon and the armour I want several times over. Looks like I’ll have to go back to PvP (:

Unfortunately all the expansions and updates just add fun little games within the game and never expand or update the base game anymore. Sad that once you finish things in these areas it just seems nothing more to do there and rarely go back

1 ReplyIt is still good. But this game has become predominantly a game of/for veterans. Who want to have back Forsaken feelings. Or Witch Queen. Which they can't. Difficult for any new player who cannot understand all the experience of years and years. And difficult for seasoned veterans who eat a season's content away in two weeks and expect half a year's depth. It is what it is. Either you still find some reason to entertain yourself or you need to let go.

1 ReplyI liked it a lot when it first came out but you can only run the dungeon so many times before it gets old so I stopped doing that like a month ago. The portal has taken away all forms of autonomy when playing so that has left me with just the lawless frontier - which I like but gets old when it's the only thing you play.

4 RepliesIt was ok only got a third through the campaign and everything else was more of the same . Realisation set in last year that Bungie wasn’t Bungie anymore . It all depends on marathon.

Renegades was a great drop. There are issues and the game is different now but this was opportunity to build playerbase trust again. It’s been squandered.
Renegades is great for people who play the game. More Destiny to consume. Does nothing to bring new people in though. Story is a follow up to Edge of Fate and not a Greta starting point narratively or gameplay wise. The franchise will decline unless they give new people a starting point.

At this point the game is beyond cooked. There is no saving it. Bungie is going down like the Titanic and Marathon will die within a year from lack of content. Considering that the promised roadmap is for the "destiny franchise" I almost guarantee they are going to try to sell the pipe dream of a D3 when current Bungie can't even put out a small weapon event without it being massively bugged. The recent silence speaks volumes that they don't have anything concrete for Destiny and even when they do announce any plans it'll more than likely still be the most whelming news we'll ever hear for Destiny.

65 RepliesCurrently 6000 players on steam…. :(

12 RepliesYou call it a great drop - as an expansion it wasn't. It was a x3 overpriced season, it had a 4-5 hour campaign which was mostly running the seasonal activity & talking to npcs, & then absolutely nothing post campaign. At least edge of fate had a little bit of post campaign like the sieve, weekly story, hidden things, structured story missions on 4 different difficulties.

Edited by SuperKingzach12: 2/10/2026 7:43:55 PMRenagades was a flop on all reviews that’s waht killed the expansion

Renegades spoiled me to playing again regularly. The Praxic Blade just made it fun. But they make it so easy to take a break from this game now. I never thought the Star Wars theme would mesh, but it did.

Kinda...it's player onboarding and parts of the community giving destiny a bad name as well plus I think they really backed themselves into a corner with the "living world" such things aren't bad but it needs to be done in a way to have a tutorial and fresh game starts have a neutral starting point to launch off of and start learning about the world... The kicker is a lack of context... the games NPC and mission interactions start with the assumption that you have already done all the things and are caught up with the many stories and factions up to the current expansion... It's very unintuitive and jarring so if a new player jumps in there confused being bombarded with information they don't understand and an actively repelling community that demands you KWTD right off the rip or get left behind... The community is much more than that for sure but it's the most common and visible side of destiny if you're looking for anything about destiny... And that's sad

5 RepliesIt was good, but not great, IMO. I enjoyed it, but it didn’t make me desperate for the next DLC. I can happily skip these in the future (depending on if the content grabs me or not). I’m more interested in the long term vision for this game. Will it get serious investment from Sony? If so, there will be much bigger opportunities further down the line.

For me gaming is about creativity either built in or player based. Destiny moved further away from both. They doubled down on rules based gameplay forcing players to comply or leave. Renegades attempted to add back in creativity by copying from established art. Copying when a game has lore it could have pulled from is insulting to a long time player. Surprised myself finding a new yet old game and enjoying myself again. Hopefully Destiny pulls out of this corporate driven creative slump. Till then this traveler will be flying No Man’s Sky.

Agreed, unfortunately 'The Portal' coupled with the first iteration of the power leveling system killed all the momentum Into the Light and The Final Shape built. Hopefully in Shadow and Order we'll get a full set of Hive weapons to chase in a siege type of seasonal activity where we storm a Hive weapons foundry leading then to a memorable exotic mission and Pantheon 2.0 after which a trailer for the following expanion/s should be shown to generate hype and maintain any little momentum the studio has built

2 RepliesSquandered in favor of a heavy focus on Concord 2….. I mean that game where Bungle got caught stealing art designs and claiming them as their own; Marathon.

I tried the free missions for Edge of Fate and Renegades. That was enough to put me off both of them. -
It was why I came back. They made gear so much easier to obtain like the tier 5 versions. I like being able to play content knowing that my build is a good as it can be for me. The star wars guns are amazing and I really enjoyed using them. The game feels pretty good. The new raid is very mid and hard without a good team especially on epic. That being said the game feels good. I think all we need now is to revamp shattered throne and pit of heresy loot wise. Give them unique armor sets and a few dungeon exclusive weapons.
-
Not only that but hardcore players like myself are leaving. Started day one. Officially done a few days ago. Not uninstalling as that would be dumb. I’ll give it a good few months before I peek again.

1 ReplyIn my humble opinion Renegades was better than EoF, but I would not call Renegades great. I haven't even played through the standard campaign. Sadly, after having played since day 1 of Destiny 1, I don't feel for playing Destiny. The franchise have so much potential, but over the last years Bungie have taken the game in opposite directions from what I used to love with the game. The feeling of exploration, the feeling of getting better for every level, no meaningless fillers or senseless mechanics, just a wonderful game I could quickly start, play, and get somewhere with. And when I shut down the game, I looked forward for the next playing session. I don't have that feeling any longer.
