Not a rage post, but I’d like to describe my irritating experience: With dps being tied to frame rate, any good damage strat would cause the frame rate to drop dramatically on console, making what should be about a 4th or 3rd of the boss’s health turn into an 8th. My team with optimized loadouts was never able to take a third of the boss’s health in a single damage phase, which hard-locked us out of completing contest. The only thing I can think of is that we didn’t have a Well (easy mode), but we didn’t die during damage either, and would land our hits with things like Wolfsbane (doing the perk-cancel tech too) and three buffed damage supers.
We completely maxed out the damage we could do, and were still locked into taking off just a small chunk of the health bar in one phase because of what I now know was the frame rate dropping.
I never had frame issues on Destiny before until Edge of Fate and even more on Renegades, so I have no idea what I could’ve done wrong. Just seems like it’s time for D3 with a new engine. I’d be willing to wait for however long that takes to develop, even if D2 doesn’t get content as fast or at all.
