How do Dungeon Exotic Drops Work?

I’ve seen a ton of posts on X (linked above) with a lot of people talking about how they have 30+ clears of vespers host with no icebreaker drop. Seems like a lot don’t know that they only have 1 shot per week per class. Bungie, can you please explain how drop chances work and make this information easily accessible in game? I don’t have it despite 45 looted clears and 27 of those being at 6x initial drop chance boost. Feels like those boosts do not do enough for how hard they are to earn. Please put in some better bad luck protection like with Nechrocasm from Crota’s end. It’s another great example of how ya’ll have the perfect solution, but refuse to apply it to other parts of the game. I would really like to see a TWID that deep dives into how dungeon/raid exotic drop chances are calculated and rolled for players. Would love to see the % chance that a given run will drop it and how much initial drop chances impact that % chance.

Based on personal experience, I find myself suspecting that Solo Dungeon completions may have a higher base drop rate compared to grouped runs (upon which RNG Bonuses from Triumphs are then added). I obtained Heartshadow, Hierarchy of Needs, Navigator and Buried Bloodline each upon my fourth or fifth single segment Solo completion with 4/5 Triumph bonuses active in each instance (without a single grouped run of their respective Dungeons prior to getting the Exotic drop). I was lucky enough to get Icebreaker upon my first (and only) completion of Vesper’s Host, however since that was a Solo Flawless completion attained after a good deal of work finding viable builds for each encounter and learning the majority of the Dungeon’s mechanics in blind playthroughs, I don’t feel as though it was in any way “unearned”. (I have since farmed the first and second encounters a number of times for drops, as well as completing the steps for the Catalyst Quest) As this is the anecdotal experience of a single player it is of course not remotely enough data to draw a firm conclusion as to whether or not Solo completions offer a higher base Exotic drop chance, so make of it what you will.
