Why are you just assuming this was Sony's decision? Ever since Sony bought Bungie, we've seen very little, if any, influence by them. The closest thing we got was some Eververse items based on some of Sony's other IPs. And if you bothered to do any research into Bungie, you would know just how greedy and messed up some of the higher ups are there. Either Sony told Bungie to lay off some people and left the decision of who to lay off up to them, or this is all Bungie.

  • Probably because the delay conveniently pushes Final Shape into the start of Sony’s next fiscal year and the layoffs come at the same time that Sony Studios are all undergoing layoffs. It doesn’t make Bungie upper management any less culpable though, given that they specifically touted that this exact thing wouldn’t happen in the wake of the acquisition.
