Yeah I quit because of this season. Was great at start then quickly became awful. Crota is worse than it was in the first game imo. Difficulty scaling is just insane. Anyone who says it’s fun or says skill issue are people who are trying to justify their money spent and I feel bad for them. We should all try new games out and see what grass is greener.

Imo that’s not a justified complaint, if all they did for the raid is the exact same as d1 people would’ve soloed it easily even with contest difficulty, the mechanics aren’t the hardest at all u essentially just need to learn the chalice which is legit pick up hold and swap, if ur able to do that a lot of lfgs would be fine with that, there are some complaints which I can see such as broken weapons(if u urself weren’t abusing it) or the error codes
-
The only part that seems very poorly designed about the chalice mechanic is the Crota encounter since he can spend the whole time camping either Top Left or Top Right making it hard/impossible to swap buffs, specifically on Master diff. Other than that i like the changes.
-
Crota isn’t hard I just hate the mechanic and that it’s the same one throughout the whole raid. It’s a raid not a dungeon. It’s fine if dungeons use the same mechanic but even a raid like vog doesn’t use the exact same mechanic but rather changes some or makes them interact differently: Crota the chalice always does the same and stays throughout the whole raid. In d1 I didn’t like that people could solo it but I liked the raid how it was and sure it could be more complex but not every raid has to be super complex

And the fact that you had to predicate your statement with confirmation bias is very transparent and telling.

Crota isn’t hard. I think the mechanic it uses is awful. I rather any other mechanic in the game. Chalice needs a rework. And I’d argue ron and vog are even easier
-
Ron and Vog are for sure easier. IDK if there has been a raid outside of D1 crota that was easier than ron. And Vog does not have a lot of mechanics to speak of either tbh.

I think it promotes coordination and communication, both of which as I'm sure you know are important for a good raid team.

My favorite encounter in destiny is vow third encounter. It does coordination well and it’s chaotic and if you have knowledge of how it works then you can do it easier for example you have the the third room where you don’t need vog relic on left side. This is great because they don’t use any of those relics for the rest of the raid which makes that encounter unique. In Crota however, you have chalice the entire raid so it’s nothing special when it’s used every next encounter. Chalice would be fine if it was for one or two encounters but it’s the whole raid.

I disagree, I think vow is an amazing raid. The symbols are easy to understand if you played through the game before. It’s up with kings fall and last wish imo

I seriously hated reading symbols and fighting a clock the entire time...although I suppose fighting a clock could be applied to Crota also.

That’s alright, I would also hate them if I had a worse memory or I was new so I didn’t know what they were. Do you like vog? It’s not super time based. I’d say bridge in Crota is your favorite if you don’t like the time part. I hate timed parts too unless they give you a reasonable amount of time like rhulk or Oryx or Golgoroth

Please don't take it as a skill thing because I flawlessed many of these and a few of those are at the bottom. 1. Wrath 2. Deep Stone 3. Spire 4. Scourge 5. Leviathan 6. Crota 7. Vog 8. RON 9. Eater 10. Last Wish 11. Kings Fall 12. Garden 13. Crown 14. Vow Not sure if I missed any. Crown and Vow are the only 2 that I genuinely just disliked.

Wrath is very fun very simple but good. But for me my number 1 is King’s fall. For me it’s so good so many encounters and bosses. Idk why but for some reason I don’t care too much for deep stone but I know why a lot of people liked it but it’s not for me I guess. I’ve flawlessed vog and kings fall and close on other raids before.

They made it better in D2 but it was such an ordeal...and my patience isn't the best these days.

Oh yeah it’s a long one but to me I love it. How long are the runs for you because if there’s any struggle on a few encounters then it’s a long one but that means more loot. I can do it in about an hour if I have a couple of lfg a mald about something stupid

I recommend this too. Play other games. Get some perspective before saying this game is too hard. IMO after playing over 2K games in the last 40 years, Destiny 2 is one of the easiest games on the market and it does not do anything too different from most games that came out in the last 10 years. Heck, in a lot of ways it does things much better than a lot of other AAA games. D2 is by no means the greatest game out there, but it is by far and large the furthest thing from a bad game. Personally i find the bump to the harder difficulties more fun and engaging. Not trying to justify my purchase. If i have not been having fun i could easily jump into one of the other 2000 games in my library + whatever is on game pass. Plus with the way they have severally cut down on grinding season to season they have acutely helped with the sense of burnout that i used to get by the end of a season. I can't say this enough. Go play other games. There is nothing more taxing on the mind and spirit than having access to so many great things and limiting yourself to just 1 game. Right now I'm going through Lies of P, been playing for a while and just got to ch. 9. Now this might not be everyone's cup of tea since it is a hard game, but i'm sure you (and everyone else) can find a game that you can enjoy outside of destiny.

I have been playing other games and they’re more fun. There’s a difference between a fun high difficulty and an unfun high difficulty. Destiny has the problem of having the unfun high difficulty. More people rather be able to farm and get high level to be even with enemies except grandmasters and such which is a better system in my opinion. I like legendary on Halo better than having something 20 light higher than me. In Halo each enemy and scenario is tested and fair for the most part except some. In destiny they’ll place a million ads everywhere for some of them and it’s more annoying then anything

Edited by BurningWidow: 10/15/2023 12:09:04 AM
I have been playing other games and they’re more fun
That is great. Everyone has their own idea of fun. Happy that you can find something you enjoy more. I would argue that Destiny's highest difficulty does not even come close to Halo's normal difficulty. With all the OP powers and OP weapons everything is super easier in comparison to Halo. Especially compared Halo 2, which was never tested for legendary. I agree with you about some things in D2 were not tested, like Battleground Gms, and are not fun. But outside of those, everything else seems balanced around the highest difficulty and don't spawn a million ads all at once.
More people rather be able to farm and get high level to be even with enemies except grandmasters and such which is a better system in my opinion.
Why even have other difficulty options other than easy and (time gated strikes) if you can just out level the ads and override the difficulty option. I played in that era, Game was a bigger grind and nothing was engaging because after a while even Master mode enemies went down like easy mode enemies. If i wanted easy, i would pick easy mode. The reason I picked hard mode is for it to be hard. If people need to be at the same strength level of the ads to have fun then they should stick to the difficulty level that matches their skill. With all that said, you are clearly free to enjoy or not enjoy whatever you want. This is all just a matter of opinion in the end of the day and not something that is a hard fact.
