Yeah, this behavior is disgusting and should be addressed by Bungie. This is one of the main reasons I stopped using LFG and sot out internet friends.
My experience was a Divinity run back in S8. We had gotten through everything without issue until the last boss encounter. One of the people on our team threw a couple of times and at around the 4th attempt the fireteam owner started being a huge D to the entire group & really ripping into the individual having issues.
I spoke out and defended that individual and told dude to "Calm down. We just got started." which that pissed off the fireteam owner. Within a few more attempts we got the fight down and on the final DPS phase, just before the kill, myself and that poor dude getting verbally harassed were kicked from the team.
The positive note is that me & that guy became friends & got our Divinity that same day with another team.
Bungie's position on this issue is to not allow a "witch hunt" and avoid internet harassment on this individual. Which I can understand. But at the same time, if public shaming to the point of influencing these toxic trolls to either change their behavior or be laughed out of the community was more popular & allowed - toxic trolls wouldn't be dominating conversations & plaguing LFGs.

Edited by Mara Sov’s Step Bro: 9/13/2023 8:14:30 PMWitch hunt rules are stupid. So long as nobody is being doxxed I don’t get it. It’s these very same social interactions that led to MMOs being such tight knit communities back in the day. It was the introduction of matchmaking and cross server that allowed people to remain largely unknown that began to kill those communities and promote behaviour like this. Naming and shaming should absolutely be a permitted thing. We can’t even show unedited video footage of people doing this stuff without being hit with naming and shaming bullshit

Problem with public shaming is that these same trolls would attack players they don't like and say that they did things that they didn't actually do. Next thing you know, some innocent person is being attacked by everyone.

As someone who just came back to D2 after a very long hiatus (4 years), it's sad to see this is still happening. Only 1 time ever had I had that happen to me in D1, but I didn't really care too much as I offered to join in and help some people with King's Fall, and they kicked me final damage phase. I already had done the raid plenty so I didn't really care, but I was annoyed all the same. My former clan, which I was the owner of, is long gone. We had like 30 people at one point. Now it's just me and 2 others that convinced me to come back. I thought of doing LFG to get some raids in, but if that kind of stuff is still happening, I'll pass lol. It would be nice if we could do something about that kind of toxic behavior though. I feel like there should be some kind of mechanic where you can't kick people during an engagement. Sure that doesn't stop them from doing it before the encounter starts, but it's still better than being 2 seconds away from the completion and then getting booted because someone is a total d bag.

Yeah, I'm sorry to inform you - but being gone for that long, you missed out on the last era of time Bungie cared about this franchise.

We should 100% be able to name and shame shmucks like that.
