I tried drinking Coffee black today. It’s fricking nasty and I have no idea how people drink that stuff. You need Cream at least! Sugar is also recommended

Edited by finRatman: 6/14/2022 6:15:33 PMEhh, depends on the quality of the coffee. Good coffee is good even without milk, cream or sugar, which I only use to cover the taste of bad coffee. Except sugar. Sugar ruins the taste no matter how good the coffee is. I prefer black coffee, but sometimes I add cream if I want a little fancier coffee.

5 RepliesCoffee, adultered in any way is a travesty

1 ReplyFull roast is great since it's not even recommendable without milk. The coffee maker smells like death every morning and I love it.

1 ReplyThe French Foreign Legion would tell you that drinking black coffee makes you a real man. That's up for debate, but there's something to be said for not loading your coffee with empty calories too.
-
1 ReplyIt's called milk.
-
5 RepliesDepends on the roast and the brand for me. Anything Starbucks makes isn't fit for human consumption. But there's a local roaster whose coffee is silky smooth.

1 ReplyI like trying all sorts of coffee black, gotta test the flavors. Just remember, anything is better than mixing MRE instant black coffee in cold water via a plastic military canteen...

Edited by SparkleGuy: 6/13/2022 11:01:47 PMMight be the brand, maybe not. It's not everyone's thing, but I personally love it lol

3 RepliesBlack coffee is great. However, black coffee without sugar is definitely an acquired taste. Definitely not for rookies or first timers.

1 ReplyEdited by TheArtist: 6/12/2022 12:10:53 PMDepends on the quality of the coffee....and how well its handled. High quality coffee that has been stored correctly is only slightly bitter, and I can easily drink it black (Actually McDonald's has surprisingly good coffee that is actually very easy to drink black) Other coffee becomes more bitter as the beans it was made from decrease in quality, and the more carelessly its been handled and stored. So what I do is add just a bit of sugar. That cuts the bitterness, but leaves behind all the other flavors of the coffee. I hate putting cream in coffee because it destroys all the other flavors of the coffee, and all you wind up tasting is the creamer. Yeech.

1 ReplyExactly. I can't ever drink coffee without somesort of sweetener. Couple years ago I tried it without sweetener and I about killed myself.
-
3 RepliesIf you require tons of cream and sugar, I’m not so sure you like coffee to begin with. I think you just like coffee-flavored cream and sugar.
-
My default morning coffees are with milk. No sugar, or foam, or any syrup-y crap or whipped cream on the top. The only reason for the milk is that once black gets to a drinkable temperature it’s stone cold in minutes, whereas I like to drink it slower. If I’m out and just want a coffee then it’s usually a black coffee; perhaps an extra shot if I’m feeling like I need it, or maybe a mocha if I’m needing something a little sweeter.
