did any of them become gaurdians? could they still be alive? just curious.

By my understanding, the Traveler/Ghosts created the Guardians after the collapse. I imagine the astronauts would have been long dead before the end of the golden age. It’s possible that their corpses may have been resurrected, but their lack of memory would likely have meant their past life had little baring on their life as a guardian.

9 RepliesEdited by Oryx's Slimy Worm: 9/20/2021 8:08:10 AMAlive? Probably not, the golden age only extended human lifespan by 100-200 years. The destiny universe takes place several centuries ahead of the 2000's. Its also kinda unlikely that they became light-bearers, let alone guardians. There are technically 6 guardians alive, the rest just kinda do willy nilly with the light they have (or so I believe).

4 RepliesMy theory is that one of them is supposed to be our guardian

2 RepliesWhich ever one almost slipped and fell to his death, is definitely not coming back as a guardian.

Edited by KannibalKlown: 9/21/2021 3:25:44 AMPretty sure that even after they came back with a bleached white Death Star following them promising to teach us how to bend the laws of physics… People still said the whole event was fake and filmed on a sound stage in Nevada.

1 ReplyThere were 3 of them, its safe to assume they were the very first guardians in destiny with each becoming their own class, Warlock, hunter, titan.
-
6 RepliesOn that note, what year are we in the Destiny universe?
-
1 ReplyThey came back, gave a very awkward press conference and then lived out their lives in relative obscurity, given the magnitude of their mission.

1 ReplyImagine being one of the first atronauts to walk on a sunset planet

Every time I wear the Taikonaut I become one of these Ares-1 astronauts.

2 RepliesOne of them is Masterchief, there's an easter egg in D1 in one of the strikes that has him in a pod. He said he's seen enough war for multiple lifetimes and he's good in his pod...
Not really, but there is an easter egg in a D1 strike that leads you to believe it is Masterchief in the pod.
Given the mission to the Traveller was in 2014 before the golden age began, they are definitely dead. Human lifespans increased during the GA to about 300 years or so but this wasn't instant. We then need to account for the collapse and dark times before the city age - up to current, somewhere in the mid 3,000`s. Factoring in all that - they ded. RIP Ares-1 team. If they were brought back as risen light bearers then they'd have no memories of who they were so that's kinda a moot point but you never know.

They all ended up living a lot longer than usual and also had their intelligence boosted by the Traveler. It was in a lore card.
-
Doesn't matter. Not like anyone who knew them is alive or that they'd remember

7 RepliesThey got to live in the Golden Age, then they died. Every Guardian today is someone who died during the Collapse, so they probably wouldn't have been around by then.

they designed the wall with all its secrets and stuff inside.

The real astronauts were the friends they made along the way...

3 RepliesIve always wondered what happened to them.
