Bravo bungie, this is easily the worst Iron Banner quest yet.
Normally I dont complain about these things since I get it's supposed to take all season and not be done in a day or two, but WTF were your thinking.
Seriously, sniper kills but 75% of the maps are cqb, melee kills but not count celestial fire, ball lightning, or throwing knive kills and try to complete this while everyone is shotgun apeing, and finally heavy machine gun kills despite them being god awful since the nerf they got in Y2, let alone the fact everyone is once again camping at heavy.

Edit: apparently illiteracy is alive an well since most people seem to be replying without reading and also assume that worse=hard as most are just replying, "its easy" even though I never called it hard. What I am saying is that this quest was designed either with a lack of foresight or to be extremely tedious.

Frozen Orbit with High Impact Reserves perk. You get 2 to start which helps activate the perk. Wait until you see someone with no shield then take ur shot. Should take a few matches. I was done in 4 or 5 matches. I agree the maps dont really help with this part of the quest.

Sniper part worked best for me on Midtown and especially Convergence.

The sniper part is easy. You can OHKO to the body with frozen orbit with the right perks. Cloud strike is a good option too. I got it done in just 1 game and I NEVER snipe in pvp and I’m slightly above average at best The machine gun kills were easy too. It’s just 3 kills… The melee part was dumb tho. My KD tanked because I’m running around trying to melee everything

The quest is bullshit and unnecessary. Iron banner in d1 was the pinnacle of fun. Getting forced to use guns I don’t want to use to get rewards is bullshit

I tried it again. I don't like PvP but they make some nice looking armor or weapon I want to try and it is extremely hard to me to grind it. I'm not PvP guy at all. I abandon the IB quest after I done 1st step it's beyond my patient, nerves and skill level. I hope in future I'll be able to get PvP gear outside of PvP activities. Or just let me spent PvP tokens to buy focused armor and weapon engrams like we have for current season with that recaster thing.

I was able to finish the quest in a matter of three hours. I'm [i]below[/i] average in Crucible, and I had to my [b]overhaul[/b] my playstyle to get it done. It can be done, but I am not here to defend Bungie. I hated every single god[b]d[/b]amn second of it. I normally just play Crucible to get my Pinnacle drops, but I play Iron Banner for fun and usually enjoy my time even with my limited skill level. That was not the case for this quest. I willed myself through it because I didn't play Tuesday, so I had time to find out the only way to get the shotgun was to do the quest. Saved my tokens, so I won't suffer the next [b]b[/b]ullshit IB quest.

Season 9 was probably the worst for me. Rocket launcher kills and super kills was annoying to do, matches were way too short for super kills and rocket launchers, I’m pretty bad with those.

I didn't think it was too bad, so far anyway. I'm at the shotgun and melee kills part. I grinded up to that point in about 2 hours yesterday. I'm terrible in pvp and never use snipers but I got the snipes done in 3 games. Should have been 2 but I suck bahaha. Just use cloudstrike and you can get multiple kills at once!

Don't expect Bungie to ever change their ways, they seem to insist on making PvP a rage inducing experience. It's at least very clear that the employees at Bungie do not play PvP outside their closed testing environment, since they keep on forcing their players to play PvP to complete quest steps, despite it being close to the shittiest and most unbalanced PvP game in the history of multiplayer gaming.

Like criticising Bungie and their lack of imagination designing grindy quests just so you play their game modes, because nothing else would make you queue in a line to be frozen for half a crucible match, is tantamount do blasphemy. “Omg I did it in like 2 seconds. It’s easy” “Stop complaining” “Okay something else” This community is pretty toxic most of the time and these forums salty as f, but what you can set your watch by is the bungobros coming out to defend Bungie like they are defending their virginity. 🖕🏽stasis in crucible, 🖕🏽shotty apes, 🖕🏽 crappy quest steps that force you to play in offensive styles that you don’t like or with weapons that you don’t like using.
