The theme of the event returns, pitting the classes against each other in a friendly competition to showcase their skills in combat.
"...to showcase their skills in combat."? It's truly more like: "to showcase their patience in doing bounties on repeat during 3 weeks straight".
Last year, we received a lot of feedback on how the overall scoring worked. You can read through this post for a refresher, but the tl;dr is we had class-specific score weighting to account for the difference in class population. We did this to make sure that Hunters didn’t have a huge advantage because of... well, how many Hunters there are.
It was a bad implemented system because you "decided to normalize based on the pool of potential players" but made a huge mistake by making Titan bounties easier than the other classes, which meant that a lot of non regular Titan players, who were only interested in the loot, played as Titans because it was easier and faster. Let's just wait to see if you'll do the same mistake this year.
Another new addition to this year’s event is the Guardian Games Strikes Playlist. This is like the standard Vanguard Strikes Playlist but will group players together by class. This feeds into the Laurel collecting mechanic where players have a chance at bonus Laurels when they pick up a Laurel generated by a player of the same class.
And here we go again to grind the same worn out, mummified, old activities! For THREE weeks straight!
Anyway, there will also be new emblems and shaders to collect and Heir Apparent is back for anyone who didn’t get it last year.
And... the main reward is the exact same weapon as last year and with a pathetic reason for it: "... Heir Apparent is back for anyone who didn't get it last year". So, what's the reward for those who already got it last year, then? A catalyst? You guys are joking, right?
We will be throwing a special final weekend closing ceremony in the Tower that will be live from May 7 to May 11 to celebrate the winning class!
Man, you guys could've just made a little effort and used SLR to make this year's Guardian Games different. Matchmaking two of each class in each race and giving points based on final positions, sparrow stunts, take overs, best times, etc, etc. You could even have made this in two parts: first 1,5 week, killing enemies in world activities. Second 1,5 week, SLR competition. But no. That's too much work. Copy/pasting is much easier (albeit lazy as hell).
