Trials is just miserably depressing
How do you expect the average person to want to play this mess, bungie. Not once have I been able to get past 3 wins. We suffer and suffer and then get tossed a garbage weapon as a "reward".
Either your algorithm needs serious work, or you need to separate the people that do nothing but this from the people that just want to dip their toe in from time to time. A raid you can at least beat with good teamwork, and effort. Trials pits you against ppl that fly, and wallhack, and have unlimited ammo. Report them, you say, but it doesn't restore the time I lost, or give me the reward I missed out on for playing a cheater.
Truly, truly, the most toxic game mode that I have ever played, in any game. Congratulations.

2 RepliesI have seen your point of view in discussion with others. I respect your point of view. This is why I avoid Trials. I think I did it with my buddies from my clan only because they wanted help with the Iggy Hammer 120. That game mode is the cancer to this game and has been for some time. It isnt truly competitive but people act like it is the one playlist to determine someone’s actual skill even though most of the matches are just simple handicaps of players playing the mode all the time versus the players never touching it to begin with. If I had a decision on where Trials would go, it would go into the dumpster alongside Trials Of The Nine where it belongs. Bungie needs to cater to the entire playerbase and stop attempting to cater to the streamers and tryhards who would do anything to win.

5 RepliesIt depends on the perspective. Trials is for the 1% not a participation trophy for the incompetent or those who lack the necessary fortitude and perseverance to succeed. Congrats, shame and humiliation is your reward.

1 ReplyThe only thing that they MUST NOT do is lock the best weapons in the game behind a PvP skill wall that only a small percentage of the population can achieve. They did that with Mountaintop and Recluse, though they eventually made them more accessible so hopefully they learned their lesson. That said, does the playlist need some massaging to improve the overall health of the game mode and increase its player population? Yep, and Bungie mentioned they were exploring ideas to help make it more inviting for more people. Hopefully whatever they do is good for everyone... the sweats and the non-sweats. Believe it or not, Trials is actually fun when you play against teams you have even a small chance at beating.

3 RepliesThe funny thing is the majority of destiny players complaining about how the average player can’t go flawless are far from average. They are actually terrible at pvp in any game!!

Or at least find success in. It's the endgame PvP content. While I do believe it isn't as rewarding as it could be to entice and incentivize a wider player base, I find this attitude odd. Someone that did track and field for a year in highschool wouldn't show up to the Olympics and be mad to see Usain Bolt there. And Olympians deserve to be acknowledged for their effort to compete at the highest level. And you're mad they make Messenger and Igneous 3 reward?

17 RepliesEhy, it's not my intention to sound toxic or elitist, so don't take this as some kind of personal attack, but Trials are not meant for "average players". Trials are and endgame hardcore PvP Activity for the most PvP dedicated Players, exactly as Grandmaster Nightfalls or Solo/Flawless Dungeons are meant for dedicated PvE Players. Yeah, we can discuss about the fact that Trials system might not be the best, the rampant cheating, the matchmaking system, whatever. But in the end, Trials are meant for those really PvP dedicated players, not for those that go playing Quickplay now and then.
