Sunsetting is dead?
Idk if its just covid cabin fever but if I'm reading the latest TWAB right, they basically say sunsetting is dead

It's good when we say LET'S GO! But me, I'm not going anywhere. I quit the game just before sunsetting, and it left a really sour taste. I'm not moving forward. I've totally quit on the game now. Yes, today is a win. But we also a lost. We lose 3 years worth of rewards. In the end, we didn't win much. They wanted to sunset. And they did 3 years worth of rewards. Yes, go and celebrate. But make sure you read everything they said. They said "they will take the time this year to research and validate a plan that creates a fresh and balanceable ecosystem." At the moment, we don't know what that means and what it will look like. This is Bunyon you are talking about. They could come up with any BS anytime they want. They also said "we believe there’s nothing more important in Destiny than getting our rewards right." Again, this is Bunyon. We don't know what that means. We don't know what their "RIGHT REWARDS" mean. We know what the "Right" rewards are good for us. But we don't know what it means to them and what the "Right" rewards they wanna bring into the game a year from now. That statement right there is still sketchy. Be observant. Wait and see what they'll do next. I know we got some good news today, celebrate! But there are some bad news as well. They wanted sunsetting, and they got what they came to do. Lose 3 years of our rewards. Never to be used again. They may recycle them back. But we'll never use the ones we got rewarded for in the past 3 years. All that playtime, effort, and rewards, gone! I don't want to rain on our parade, guys. I want you to celebrate. But stay sceptical about the future. You should know who you're dealing here by now. I'm still out! Enjoy the game and hope for the best. I'll be watching you Guardians!

12 RepliesYes. Bungie caved to the pressure. Plus it allows them to (once again) ignore the games foundational flaws as a loot game, and hope that they’ll either magically go away...or we’ll ignore them. This was a giant leap backwards for the game.

Sunsetting is semi dead. All the stuff already sunset will stay sunset (well until they charge you for them re-releasing it). Far too late and not even close to praise worthy.

Back to the stale metas and no reason to grind anything. This post was just more proof of the casuals getting what they wanted.

So what do I win for calling it? This could’ve been avoided if they just listened to the community. Because I’m sorry to all the people who are unable to stop using a weapon, but I didn’t have that problem.

More or less. Although Bungie will be looking into an alternative ( solution to power creep ) after the Witch Queen comes out. So I prefer to think of it as a temporary reprieve until Bungie screws up again. Still, I have to give credit where credit is due. Bungie get a lot flack for not listening to the Destiny community ( instead of streamers, and the the no-lifers ). Yesterday, they proved that they do listen.

I wouldn't be getting too excited about all the changes taking place. Look at what happened to items that can be masterwork over the last years or so because it hasn't been pretty. Thinks about it because there are a few things they have said they were going to do and end up doing the opposite, or it's been half-truths. The changes taking place look good on paper, but I rather be real about things and see what actually takes place. Nothing comes without a high cost when it comes to this company changing things, their track record shows it.
