As you said.
Hard content CAN be fun.
Timers are to add difficulty. Not to add fun.
Not everything that is difficult can be fun.
GM nightfalls are proof of that.

But in the end it's a videogame that should be fun first and foremost. Just making an innately unenjoyable experience is a failure to create a videogame as a product to begin with. And timers just don't fit a game like Destiny where so much freedom should be on the player to choose their loadouts and be challenged in their own playstyle. A timer only adds the necessity to use gear that is the best on paper and completely throw out the indivitual playstyle of a player once again, just like in Nightfalls with Champions enabled.
-
But does it make such a problem? With a good fireteam, you can make it with 10 minutes on the clock. 25 minutes is more than enough for the mission, considering is the same way it was in the normal version. It just makes you think on what you use. And runs a little faster.
-
Thing is for me Harbinger was such a great activity because it was so solo friendly. Timers are just not. If you run it with a fireteam lol there isn't even any challenge. But doing it solo ends up wasting time and makign you hate the inbalances of the game even more when you could just have an easy way out.
-
Well, not everything is for solo players. It sucks, but thats how it is.
-
Well yeah but last season we had so much good stuff for soloing. And they just needed to do a repeat since Harbinger was so good. Yet for some weird reason they don't stay consistent.
-
Eh. Give a little to one, give a little to the other.
-
I don't see how the inclusion of a timer is giving anything to team players, it's just reductionist to solo play.
-
Its to give something to the hardcore
-
Is it though? The timer doesn't give anything at all it's the problem. If anything the content needs to be easy enough to be cleared in the allocated time, so for hardcore players it's actually making the content even more streamlined.
-
The timer adds a challenge for me. I like overcoming challenges.
-
You are overcoming content that is designed to be cleared within said timer. You are not being challenged by design.
-
The timer makes it a challenging solo for me. I like challenges. Just accept it.
-
How does it make it challenging for you to solo? It doesn't. The challenge is personal and per encounter. When you clear an indivitual part of the mission you have already overcome it, the timer adds nothing to that triumph.
-
Why are you so insistent on telling me what I should find challenging?
-
Because the timer's added challenge is not subjective. I can understand if there's an encounter you find challenging and I may not sure. But the timer is not something that is hard to overcome person by person basis. What the timer does is not adding anything to the challenge of each encounter, someone who can't clear an encounter won't clear it even if the timer wasn't there and that is their challenge to overcome.
-
Well, I’ll just leave you here and enjoy the challenge of completing the activity, with the timer on it. Toodles
-
Pffft I don't even have the season and won't even buy it because of reasons, the timee being one, so I was good already. But yeah have a nice day.
