I've never posted in these forums before, so let me know if this is the wrong place.
I play on PC with a Ryzen 7 1700, RX 580 8gb, and 16 gigs of RAM @ 3200 mhz. Destiny 2 is my main game. My frames are okay (~80 to 90 @ 1080p), but it's my understanding that Destiny benefits greatly from CPUs with higher core clock speeds. I run my 1700 at the base 3.0 GHz, and I'm wondering if spending $200 on a Ryzen 5 3600, which runs at 3.6, would make a noticeable difference in game. I would go from 8 cores to 6, but I can't imagine that I would ever really miss the two cores.
Obviously my GPU is also not the best of the best, but there's no way I can justify upgrading it at current prices, and the 580 is still a pretty good card.
Thanks in advance for any help.

#Offtopic is probably a better place to ask this

1 ReplyIdk about anything you just mentioned but my new gen Xbox runs crucible at 120 frames. Looks and feels amazing. Outside of crucible I get 60 frames

My friend, That is one of the greatest decisions of your life. I went from a 1400 quad core cpu to a 3600x and now I went from 50-70 fps to 110-140 fps. I have a 5 year old rx 580 and 48 gig ram and two SSD's. So yea, good choice for a good price

7 RepliesBest bang for your buck will always be a GPU upgrade. Upgrading your CPU will yield a marginal FPS increase.

2 RepliesEdited by Whopping Dingers: 1/9/2021 12:44:24 AMI have a 3600x and 3060ti and get on average 120fps 1080p Ultra pvp and pve uncapped with vsync off it normally stays above 130. I have a series x and that thing is legit. 120 in the crucible and 60 everywhere else (will need compatible monitor). I play on my xbox more than my pc for d2. I’d only consider getting new stuff if your performance tanks. They’re pretty good at optimising the game.

2 RepliesHow much is your budget for a CPU? $200? And when would you like to have it?

2 RepliesMight as well get a series X 🤭🤭

30 RepliesLike if you wanna future proof your pc Id go intel for Destiny. Seeing as a 3080 with a Ryzen cpu gets like 120fps at 1080p.

Im building a PC right now and bought the 5 3600. It's Future proof and from Reviews it's very good. Now if you want a Pro PC set...I think Intel is the way to go I think.
