I met a new player and decided to help him out. This is some 3rd grader. We did the new light missions then I took him I to private matches because we were going to go into control for the new light quest from shaxx. I tried to see what I can do to improve his aim, teach him about awareness, what job each type of weapon has and how they are used, ect.
We then decided to go into control after 2 private matches. Out of all 3 matches, he got aggressively tbagged each one. And on the 3rd on, he got a message along the lines of "you cant even play the game. That's why in bagging. Just uninstall". What. The. F***. I don't have words to describe how pissed I was.
What the f*** is wrong with this community🤦♂️
This all around is just completely messed up. I feel bad for the kid. He was actually having fun with the game. I'm disappointed in this community. We have stooped so low to a point I didnt think we could get to. This is not how new players should be treated. In fact, this ain't how people in general should be treated. How is this acceptable?
Edit: Forgot to mention this because I just went to bed after writing this but I had already informed him about crucible not really being fun and it being toxic. When he did get bagged, he told me he was going to bag them back and I said not to. I told him to not stoop to their level. He then told me to go 1v1 them and I said no because I'm not going to that far and waste my time on some bozo with an ego. I never really do 1v1s in the first place because I find it a waste of time unless its with my buddy's for funsies and we do stupid stuff or I'm trying to help a new player like that kid.
I already had him block the one who messaged him and told him to ignore people like that because they may feel good about themselves. But in reality, they are making themselves look extreamly stupid and that they have the mental capacity of a zucchini. The kid didnt seem bothered much and was ignoring it which is good, but I can't stand by and let that s*** slide. Especially if I'm the one helping him. Because it's still messed up no matter how you look at it.
Edit 2: Some of you are missing the point. Yes, the kid is a 3rd grader. No, I'm not his parent. I didnt give him the ok to play a game at the age he isnt supposed to. And if I had a kid, I most likely wouldn't let them play the game at his age either in the first place, or at least without my supervision. But its 2020 and heading into 2021, people are -blam!-. I'm not angry at the fact that he is a kid experiencing this. I'm angry that new players in general are being treated in a similar manner. I've seen a good chunk of new players on the forums and in the game getting treated like garbage. That's why I'm writing about this.

6 RepliesBungie breeds toxicity by catering the crucible try hards the way they have since D1. It's disheartening honestly.
-
3 RepliesCrucible is toxic. Its sad because its gonna turn alot of people away and were gonna end up with garbage lobbies full of sweat just like trials. Thats not really a game issue, its a community issue
-
2 RepliesYou want the truth or are you looking for a fanboy response? The truth is bungie gives SHIT rolled armor 99.9% of the time. Shit rolled weapons, can’t access mods they need and etc. most players aren’t going to waste their time with new players who can’t access these items to overpower through content. All this is bungie’s fault with the way the current drops are going.

Nah, that’s just PVP in general.

After reading the majority of these posts with discussion of age or the matter of said post. I will use the word 'majority' freely cause that is exactly the count that is or are being replied to here, THE majority is indeed are or will be supporting this 'idea' of toxicity , no matter how you word it or point the blame in whatever direction (when you should be pointing said blame at yourself but, we can't be having any of that),..MOST of you are proving a point here and you don't even see it. This is embarrassing for Destiny's community and we all should be ashamed. Yeah, wow! these replies reveal how ugly the human race actually can be especially over a simple video game. Yes, it's that easy to describe, a simple video game. Behind the Screen of Anonymity is no excuse, period! Be NICE to each other folks! That's all you have to do, no more no less, a simple 'Thank you, You're welcome, Have a wonderful Day! Would you like some help? Well done guardian!' Would be awesome huh? but, its just to darn hard.

1 ReplyEdited by AlieN_x_HuMaN: 1/1/2021 3:54:38 PMI would love to argue with you, unfortunately you are right It's really weird too. Ive played with people and carried newer and younger players for cool loot in raids, dungeons, etc. Ive had, and have, friends who have done the same. the moment they step into crucible all of that changes and they have no clue that those blueberries on our team are probably 10 years old. Grown men, then turn into raging gorillas. Im guilty of it. Very strange phenomenon. *also, that kid's parents are dumb af. Sorry. Terrible display and lack of judgement. If youre wondering, yes Im judging them. I dont care what theyre situation is. 3rd grader should not be unsupervised playing online with us, and their messages should be turned off.

Just trying to save them from being sucked in by a game that on the surface looks and plays great but has no depth.

When I'm bored, I chill at cosmodrome and message new lights welcome to destiny. Not much but its somethin

Edited by Guardian: 1/1/2021 5:20:27 PMA multiplayer application with poor multiplayer communication and little to no information on what's happening atm. Is prime 4 hate. Welcome to Destiny. Majority of the things that happen, like blowing a mobs head off and listen to them scream don't make sense in this app. No explanation to why a hover board with a rocket engine will only propel itself if it's very close to the ground. Raised & told DON'T GO INTO THE LIGHT... in Destiny you jump right in. Discord is prime for hate. An application that shuts another application down if it crashes... like Steam, is prime for hate. Bungie's goal is to make people waste time & money, get angry with each other. I don't see a problem. They're doing a great job. Even here in the forum. I cry about this type of stuff all the time. Bungie ain't got no time for you. They don't care about anything but the mighty dollar.

People are toxic in every game, destiny is no exception. Does it suck? Yes. But is there anything you can do about it? No, I’d say just stick to people you know so you don’t get triggered over someone saying you suck at a game

Welcome to humanity 2021.

Dude, I took my first bag in halo 3 lone wolf playlist back in 2007, its not new, and is usually personal. it’s good he got that, it’s going to teach him what spoiled children and angry neckbeards are like online. I legit got a kys message thrown my way in Cold War yesterday. He’s going to run into it eventually, glad your there to help him realize that it’s just a game, and In a competitive setting people are going to rip into you since they’re on the internet and won’t have any direct retribution from the person they are insulting like in real life. Best thing you can do now is report them and see if Xbox or PlayStation gives them the hammer. Back in the 360 days there was barely any online enforcement, so heated deabates with screaming and super racist remarks were Common place in online lobby’s and via voice/text messages.

I’d have to say it’s not a common experience but when I was a lower light right after the update me and my few friends did crucible but with me hopping on to d2 for the first time in a while. So after some mayhem and control we did some survival and elimination. So after our third game of elim some guy added me to a message group with his two team mates and I got around the same message of “ you suck don’t do comp. uninstall “ Which of got from all three guys of these guys on a sort of the same way. Well I went back to playing After more hate then blocked them. I mean who the frick does this to a 7th Grader who hasn’t played the game in a few months.
-
He should have messaging turned off for people not on his friends list and he probably doesn’t understand why someone is going up and down on his dead body. There are a lot of jackasses playing playing games online. But the majority of people are not toxic. Report messages like that and move on.
-
1 Reply1. The whole community doesn't behave like that. You simply ran into some jerks. 2. Taking someone that young into an online and PVP setting was not a good move on your part. Simply because the odds running into jerks in THAT setting is rather high. Competition brings out the worst in some people....and can attract the very worst a community has to offer. Lets just say that letting a 3rd grader play unsupervised online is not something I would do.....and what happened when you took him into a PVP setting is why I wouldn't do it.

I've offered help to new players online and been told to fk off. New players are a55holes too.

Edited by Dredgen Araphel: 1/1/2021 3:11:09 PMNobody knows the age or grade of randos online and even if they did sone people are still going to be jerks. To play devils advocate I don't think a 3 grader should be playing destiny but bad parenting is common so I am not suprised that the child was exposed to something that they were not supposed to be exposed to game rating are not little suggestion stickers you ignore. I blame the crappy parent. Jerks could have sent some nasty messages to the poor child and some people are straight up sickos don't expose your child to that and try to say people missing the point welcome to the internet people are jerks even more so behind a screen. Not a good look. Plus you always tbag back stop making cowards sad the kid was more right than the adult.

2 RepliesEdited by Sohelanthropus: 1/22/2021 1:54:42 PMMost of this community is toxic in disguise or the other way around lol. Everyone has been, is or will be an asshole, is a videogame and you can hide behind your tv so everyone will just spit out bullshit at some point, I know I have
-
The one that tbagged him and wrote him a message was probably a kid himself, with low self esteem, social problems and the only way for him to feel important is related on how good you are in a game...that is pretty sad...
-
9 Replies"Waaaaah someone made pixels do things to other pixels waaaaaah." I love tea bagging on kills purely because people like you get so bent out of shape about it 😂. If you want to play a game with a random child then I suggest introducing them to a game where the community isn't as primarily adult-based like this one.

6 RepliesEdited by Timelost in the Sauce: 1/1/2021 2:21:07 AMIm gonna be real with you chief... this stuff is tame compared to the stuff thrown around in COD Xbox 360 era lobbies. Especially MW2
-
it's not like the tbagging stops if you aren't new
-
The game wasnt designed for 'new' players and it sucks to even try to be new to D2.
-
17 RepliesWho brings a third grader into the crucible? 🤣 What’s the next stop? The strip club, the pool hall, then the casino?
-
The Crucible? Wrong place to experience the community first hand. That, that is no place for the faint of heart. Probably the first mistake to bring the Kid.

While annoying, you needed to be around for the halo 2 days in 2004. There are toxic players no matter where you go, but things have surely calmed down. Bungie themselves treat the new players like shit by not having sbmm in control.
