DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR
after visiting my sister recently I saw the worst side of the players of this game.
my 15 year old nephew was playing one of the pvp modes, he gets invited to a private match, then his team starts abusing and messing with him. he is obviously getting upset as we hear him from the other room. I went in watched for a few minutes then took his headset and jumped into the conversation. as I used to play I can hold my own with toxic players. after a few minutes the reason they are abusing my nephew comes out. one player was on a 9 game win streak and lost the 10th and according to him my nephew didn't get double figures therefore he was the reason his streak broke.
straight up you people who cant handle losing or the fact that others are actually better than you are truly pathetic. but to attack a 15 year old who isn't the type to stoop to this level is absolutely unacceptable.
just who do you people think you are, if he talked trash and brought it upon himself I wouldn't be here. but he isn't the type, he just likes to play.
back when I played I knew the type, but this is next level.

1-THERE ARE PEOPLE BETTER THAN YOU GET OVER IT
2-ITS A GAME WHO CARES IF YOU WIN OR LOSE ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN REMEMBER
3-YOU CHOSE TO PLAY WITH THE CIRCUMSTANCES BUNGIE PROVIDE, STOP BLAMING EVERYONE ELSE

There will always be petty folks like that around the PvP section; best to ignore and report them instead of just giving ‘em fuel to heat them up more. That said, gonna have to give a downvote because you’re matching the title with your own behavior based on the replies on this thread. It’s one thing to condemn the wrongful ways of others, but another to just as quickly emulate them.

Toxic players is a normal thing but there is two ways to deal with them 1 leave the situation as fast as posible 2 if its getting worse block and report the player for abusive chat (optional) if this same player ever comes back take the case to bungie support

1 ReplyI swear this games community has the greatest extremes I've ever seen. There's extremely good people, who are willing to help people at the drop of the hat, real stand up people. Then you have pyscho degenerates who tear their own skin off because they lost a quickplay match, and will harass anyone affiliated with said game if they can.

Agreed but reporting for abuse through destiny and the platform should get rid of the players this would be helpful for others in the community people need to learn to be more user friendly around others instead of being absurdly rude other wise don’t play if your going to make others upset

1 ReplyI joined a clan that turned out the founder was like that. Always had to blame someone else and super toxic. I got out & that clan eventually died out.

That’s sad to hear I do believe some people take this game too seriously, you should have to shout at a kid to feel better about your loss and also the people in the comments saying “don’t join random parties” and “what did he expect,” clearing not what happened to him, he’s a kid and probably didn’t have the judgement to anticipate what would happen. We cannot put the blame on others we need to get better ourselves

There's a certain type of personality disorder that seems to be common amongst FPS PvP players... They think that if they're good at the game, then they're "owed" EZ KD farming and constant wins against lower-tier players. It's really sad how seriously those types of people take "beating up" on people below their skill level. And how much they pat themselves on the back for it. Their ego gets unhealthily wrapped up in it.

Ummm you know there is away he and anyone to avoid situations like this, it's called don't jump into random party's when invited and turn your messages off problem solved. I personally turn my messages off when I just want to play and not be disturb but when I want to get that sweet hate mail I turn that ish back on and start feeding on all the salty hate and I'll tell you there are many ways to trolls.

1 ReplyI have always, always admired the community of this game, so many good people gathered in one place, many are ready to support you, help and form that indescribable atmosphere that was back in 2014. Then there were also difficulties and falls, but friends always helped to cope with toxic people in pvp, as well as to go through difficult activities. All players are unique in their own way and this is cool, I do not encourage harassment and oppression, but what did you do, dude you are cool.

Wheres his dad by the way, is it always you that does the parenting for your sister? Seems to be going well, a 15 yr old that cant handle someone in his ear making fun of him. College will be a sign holding cry fest, he'll fit right in.

I get upset but have been slowly learning that I suck in competitive type game modes. So recently I just try to do my best (even though that's not too good) and enjoy the game.

Destiny has a lot of Toxic players playing PVP. Destiny 1 was just as bad!

Thats completely unacceptable, I remember the good old days in d1 where everyone was there to help build you up rather than put you down (with the exception of the gjallarhorn issue). The team putting him down could have just as easily offered to help make him a better player but instead did this. Cmon guys were all guardians, its time we worked together here to make our community shine. Thats all easy enough to say but we all know there are alot of toxic people out there. We just gotta make sure we outnumber them 3 to 1.

So here is the issue with this. I completely get what your saying trypticon8. There are a lot of toxic players out there. The pvp community is a little more hardcore than the pve players. That being said if you are going to get upset about losing a match then you should be playing as a fireteam and then you can not blame anyone. Good or bad there are people who like pvp and want to get better. They should not be punished or blamed for that. i use to get upset playing comp trying to gain glory in the older seasons and it was frustrating. I knew I needed a team and that the people on the other hand are trying to gain more glory as well just like me, if you think its hard for you and your a good player its harder for them as a average player going against harder teams as well. We need more people who are ok with helping other players, I have spent the past 2 seasons helping guardians in trials, raids, etc. It is actually entertaining and fun, you would not believe that kind of players you meet. This season alone we have had 5 new clan members from guided games and helping players in pvp. We can not expect a good community unless we help build it.
