Why not make it more rewarding the longer you use a particular weapon instead of sunsetting?

Good idea

Bad idea

I like variety, sunsetting sounds great to me

When you use a gun more, you could unlock more perks, kind of how COD unlocks attachments. This would mean there are two ways to grind for a "God Roll". Then you get to keep the weapons that work best for you! Or is the point to make you experiment with different classes and ways of playing forever?

So eventually a single gun will have more than 2 perks? No thanks... I do think that attachments(sights, barrels, magazines, etc) should be changeable and not reliant on RNG. Why is this specific sight gorilla glued to my gun? 🙃 I also think that Destiny should adopt the weapon proficiency thing that I believe Borderlands 1 had. Small stat bonuses that added up over time and are gained by using a specific weapon type. We kind of have it with Masterworks but Im talking about a stat boost to your overall weapon type performance. I also think that reload needs to be removed as a RNG stat and all weapon archetypes need to be given a reasonable base reload speed that could be improved by reload mods. Also remove reload perks. I also think that the “accuracy” aspect of range needs to be separated from the range stat and made into its own stat. Range should effect damage fall off and thats it, while accuracy effects how accurate your bullets. (At longer ranges and hip fire accuracy) I also think that the Seasonal Mods should be moved to be armor perks rather than actual mods. Also the class item mods should be perks as well. Armor mods should solely be weapon enhancement and thats it. I also think we should have multiple skill lines that allow us to specialize in different parts of the game. Example: A Warlock wants to become a cryptarc so he levels up his cryptarchy skill line and unlocks unique perks that allow him to decrypt his friends engrams with a higher chance at better stuff, etc. Gunsmith skill line Scavenger skill line Cooking skill line

  • The point is to move people along so they'll pay to keep up to date.. If they don't sunset, a fair few players will just be happy to play with what they've paid for in the past and also new light players. Total Boll..ks

Ah yes, an indefinitely improving Recluse that gets better, and better, and better, and better, and better, and b e t t e r. Sounds perfectly healthy.

  • Because that will make the problem worse. Not better.

  • In d2 the only way to save your favorite weapons/gear is to never use them. Just appreciate knowing you have them. Lol. Stupid asshat developers

  • Just posted something similar. They should reintroduce the gun with new perks via the gunsmith. Keep your old gun as is, at least at soft cap, or decide to upgrade and get the new perks up to max light. In D1 it was grindy, and as someone else noted there was not an infusion so you had to really want to upgrade and make sure you had a high level item to begin with. But at least it was straight forward - use the gun. I just think it is disrespectful to players and dishonest to have said infusion was the model for all of D2.

  • We had an idea similar to that in D1, it required to level up a gun before all the perks were active. All that would accomplish is having the gun be incredibly weak as soon as you get it, and then create an even bigger grind because you’ll have to level up all your weapons that you are going to use.

    • Great idea. Some of us call that “growing” the game. imho, way more important than an “evolving” world.

In Destiny 1 you had to gain experience with weapons to unlock their perks. Got a new weapon with cool rolls? Time to grind without all its nifty abilities to get it to function at its true power. Granted, once you reached max character level you would start to earn ‘motes of light’ at each rank up. Fusing these motes of light into weapons would dump experience into them, reducing the amount of grind to unlock them fully. Of course all this was taking place in a game without infusion: you get a weapon, it is the light it dropped at forever. Want a version with a higher light? Better keep grinding. In addition weapons were routinely retired from the loot pool (including exotics). Didn’t get an Icebreaker in Year 1? Guess you’ll have to wait until it is reintroduced into the game two years later (albeit somewhat nerfed). And if you did get that Icebreaker Y1? Well now it’s Y2 and thanks to no infusion it’s woefully underpowered. At least you can keep it in your Vault for posterity. Also no collections tab. Better be sure you really really don’t need that exotic before you delete it or else you’ll have to wait for it to drop again. edit: Sometime after TTK a means was added to allow players to reacquire certain weapons/exotics, which functioned like a sort of proto-Collections tab. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)

This goes against exactly what they are trying to accomplish with sunsetting. They make all these shit weapons that they think people will use and they end up being legendary shards and weapon parts. They want you to use the shit weapons like the seraph tower guns. People didn’t use them because compared to all the current guns that are better, they were subpar. By sunsetting our weapons they will force you to use the new guns they bring out regardless if the suck or not. If you want to be able to do end game activities, run these new shit weapons. There may be a gem or two in there but for the most part the loot has alway been mostly filler. Very rarely has there been an expansion we’re all the new weapons were good, or meta.
