Trials of Osiris - Population drop continues down 50% from launch weekend.
Here are the population numbers from Destiny Trials Report:
Week 1 - 380k players.
Week 2 - 340k players (-10% from launch).
Week 3 - 300k players (-20% from launch).
Week 4 - 278k players (-27% from launch).
Week 5 - 235k players (-38% from launch).
Week 6 - 245k players (-37% from launch).
Week 7 - 205k players (-47% from launch).
Week 8 - 189k players ( -50% from launch).
A new milestone this week. 50% down from launch and under 200k for the first time. Plenty of players have given feedback about what turns them off from playing the activity. Bungie has made some new promises about changes coming in the future.
Personally I wonder if those changes will come in time, and be enough to turn it around and build a strong weekly player population. I wonder if other players will want to return to the activity given the changes that have been announced by Bungie.
I linked the Trials announcement video because I rewatched it the other day, and it’s a pretty stark contrast between what was intended and what was delivered.

4 RepliesThe Trials player pool is shrinking because us 'casuals' don't feel like being canon fodder to inflate the egos of PVP sweats 🤷♂️ I played trials for two weeks just to get my lore piece for a win and that was an ordeal in itself so I'm giving up until I can at least use bounties to get gear. I don't get why a scrub like me is being matched with people who can regularly go flawless with ease (and they then teabag me as though they achieved something great...)

1 ReplyHey how about that news that there might be a new map this weekend? Is that going to bring anyone back?? It could be one of the same maps out of rotation, it won’t for sure be a map that hasn’t been in the rotation. But is that got anyone who stopped playing trials hyped to start again?

1 ReplyI'm a terrible PvP player but played D1 trials all the time for fun and the gear, never got to the lighthouse. Not going near the new trials. If they want cannon fodder they'll have to throw us a bone.

2 RepliesThe number of cheaters is observe in trials even now A good player in the end he will go flawless (if he is still playing) the Casuals or the average players they don't even try to play that *** fest I was trying to help this weekend to averaged player go flawless and when they actually manage to go on 5 win we lost against cheaters. They tried so hard for the 5 win and they lost unfair now the don't want to touch that Playlist again.

16 RepliesNobody cares... Trials is a niche mode for sweats. Sweats hate actually fighting other sweats Casuals hate being farmed by sweats and getting nothing for it. Not to mention the hassle of trying to get a team together thru LFG. Trials can die in a pit.

1 ReplyI was optimistically hoping that the reduction in player numbers was due to Bungie keeping their promise to ban cheats. Not surprisingly, I was wrong. They just spilled over into comp and regular PvP

2 RepliesBy the time changes actually come it will be long dead, their promises of weapons and maybe adept weapons are only for season 12, and that is their [i]short term changes[/i], next season they will add nothing new to it, no new armor or anything, why would anyone continue playing that if everyone already has the armor and decently rolled weapons? Because of a sparrow or useless ghost? And this is because they [i]didn't want to do it half-baked[/i]. I have no hope anymore for this franchise if this is the best they can do.

3 RepliesNumbers are better than i would expect tbh. I dont get why people play this mode so much. Its really just tedious to me so i avoid it. Nothing wrong with people playing it but i dont get the infatuation with trials. I see people that have all the gear and they are constantly playing trials. Its just weird to me.

7 RepliesThank you for posting this. Maybe now the blind fanboys will see that the game is dying despite what they want to believe. Plus having players on xbox not being able to play for like 2 months doesn't help the population.. But bungie hasn't responded to that as far as I know🤣

2 RepliesI said this at the very beginning and I'll say it again. Trials shouldn't have returned under these circumstances. It did more harm than good. I call it how I see it and well this mode was definitely half baked. The Trials armor and weapons are a huge let down and to even think they had plenty of time to deliver a good experience overall and give the player base [b]New Exclusive Weaponry/Armor[/b] and not the reskinned gear is very unacceptable for me. Bungie will never learn. This is already written in stone. Unless something changes entirely that touches each and every single aspect of this current franchise, this is what we will see, hear, read and continue to drive players away. This is very disappointing for me to write because I'm a huge fan of this franchise and I'm not getting the desired experience I crave.

18 RepliesEdited by Rain: 5/6/2020 4:24:59 PMIt's just unfortunate with their lack of proper anti-cheat. Sure people are getting banned, but it's an aftermath situation so the damage is already done. I love trials and played the shit out of it in d1 over 80 flawless. In d2 now after I got the title I'm maybe playing a few cards a week with friends. I'm an average pvp'r more of a pve main, but even I can pick out most blatant cheating. I also dislike questioning every sus death I have whether it be a lucky shot or not and takes the fun out of it. Its pretty much anytime we get matched against known pro players/streamers we have fun. Not because I'm a sweatlord but I dont have that lingering suspicion if/when I get picked from a crazy shot. Bungie needs to up their anti-cheat more off of auto detection than a report/review hybrid system. Use the review system for people who have been banned to put in a ticket. Also if you have previous vac bans you shouldn't be allowed to pvp in general. Tldr- Ruined a fun mode and pretty sure the cheating, gatekeeping and lack of incentive is the reason for the drop in players.
