WATERCRESS - Post your experiences here

I figure it might help if we all post the details of our experiences with the WATERCRESS error here, to perhaps help Bungie find commonalities and find a way to fix it. . For me, it started with NEWT errors three weeks ago. For a week, I could only do one thing at a time – go to one planet or go to the Tower, complete one strike or one lost sector, or one crucible match etc – before I got a black screen for several minutes followed by a NEWT error and then a full game crash with a ‘rrrrrrrrrrr’ noise. The only solution was to quit the game and spend around 8-10 minutes logging back in, at which point I could usually complete one more activity before NEWT and a crash. It was really frustrating - one evening it took me 4 hours to complete 4 legendary lost sectors due to the crashing, but at least I could play a bit. . Then the new update happened just under 2 weeks ago, and since then I haven’t been able to log in at all. . I launch the game, press ‘A’ and after a few minutes of grey screens get to the character choice screen. I pick a character - it doesn’t matter which one - and then get a plain black screen for 4-5 minutes. Eventually, I get a WATERCRESS error screen. . If I press ‘B’ to dismiss it quickly enough, it goes back to the Shadowkeep screen and I can press ‘A’, at which point the game freezes with a ‘rrrrrrrrrrrrrr’ sound. . If I leave the WATERCRESS error on screen for a few seconds, the whole thing just freezes up and I have to quit. . The only exception to this was 4 days ago - to my surprise, on my daily attempt to log in, I picked a character and after 15 seconds or so of black screen, it actually logged me in. Oh joy! I thought perhaps Bungie had fixed it. I went to the Tower - it worked! I bought some bounties from Banshee. I purchased the cat emote from Eververse for silver (really wanted that, so I’m glad I had the opportunity to get it). Then I tried to travel to the EDZ and that’s when it all fell over again. I got NEWT - full game crash with ‘rrrrrrrr’ noise - and when I tried to launch and log in again, WATERCRESS. . I tried everything I could at this end to try and fix it: - Unplug router, wait 5 mins, plug back in - Reset Xbox - Hard reset Xbox - Clear alternate MAC address - Run all Xbox tests of network, multiplayer etc - Call ISP, get them to reset router - Call ISP to check through my whole network, confirmed no issues here - Delete and reinstall game (the nuclear option) . Nothing worked. . FYI I’m on Xbox One with 200MB/s wired connection. I’m NOT on Free 2 Play (purchased full Deluxe game via Microsoft Store), and I DO have the full annual season pass. . I’m now on Day 13 of WATERCRESS errors and being unable to play. I usually play every single day for a minimum of 2-3 hours with my friends - it’s the only game I play, so I’m really feeling it. Just really, really hoping Bungie can fix this soon so that lockdown doesn’t seem so interminable. I’m hoping this thread will help. . So please reply with as much detail as possible around your WATERCRESS experiences, what you’ve done to try and fix it, anything that might have helped, etc. Maybe it will help Bungie track it down. Maybe it won’t, but heck, it’s worth a try. . Thanks guys.
