You have my respect for that. I haven’t watched Evangelion or EoE in a while and I’ve never watched any of the new ones so I’m basing this off of what I’ve seen but probably Asuka. Her entire character is based off of her personal self worth while Rei’s is based off how she has literally no self worth and will die if she has to. I find Asuka’s arc to be much more compelling and in relation to Shinji, works better with him than Rei does. Him and Asuka are deeply flawed characters that can’t reveal their feelings to each other because they’re too scared to. People say shit like tsundere but that implies she’s a normal person who’s just having a hard time expressing her feelings. Asuka is an incredibly complex character with an inability to show affection because of how shitty her childhood was.
