The nine and the darkness.
I've come to reason that the Nine are the Darkness. Here's my reason:
1: Quite a while back ago, my name is byf did a video about the Nine and within that video he said, "that the Nine are theoretically dark matter. Meaning that they aren't visible and make up 80% of the universe. Thus, they are everywhere and even within us and so, they are somewhat a mirror image of us". Or something.
2: Now coming back to shadowkeep. At the end of the camping, we experience a vision showing us the darkness and them mirroring our image. So if you interpret them being a mirror image and the Nine being one, they are alike. Right?
3: Remember the old art sketches of the races, well in the firth one (the race of darkness), it shows the pyramid ships, a floating being and some kind of floating energy or weird black sludge with zero gravity, meaning it's formless. Well, since the Nine are theoretically dark matter, they are formless but can take the form of something else by copying it, like the darkness in the vision.
4: In the end of the vision, the darkness says they are our salvation. If we interpret that with all of the help we got from the Nine (Xur and the rewards from trials of the Nine), it could seem (if they are the same) that darkness is our salvation. Also, they said to the drifter to keep playing the game (gambit) and he says that it's his and our salvation.
This is far fetch and i have no proof. I'm just speculating about what i thought of last night.

The nine are not darkness. They are like the stitching weaved into your shirt.

13 RepliesThe Nine are beings of Dark Matter. They inhabit 9 celestial bodies within the Sol system. They are also divided into two groups. The Five; (which I have speculated to be Venus, Terra, Mars, Jupiter and Neptune) use chemistry such as the experiments at the Cocytus station, use of wish magic through Ahamkara, and the study of the Light to remove themselves from their celestial bodies and become more akin to mortal beings. And then there’s the Four; (which I have speculated to be Sol (the sun), Mercury, Saturn and Uranus) prioritise using dark matter to create black holes as a way to escape his system/way of life. Neither group like the darkness. In fact the Emissary’s visions to us are meant to be a warning about the pyramids. They have seen the Drifter’s potential and have chosen him as worthy, and likely the same for both Mara and one other (likely the Exo Stranger). Point is; why would they go to the lengths of warning us about the pyramids if they were the darkness? Surely if this was the case, they’d rather take us by surprise and wipe everyone out with no planned retaliation.

The Darkness seeks to end all life. The Nine require the life in Sol to exist at all. The Pyramid ships are present physically in our dimension. The Nine cannot exist physically in our dimension and thusly communicate through the Emissary and Xur. They are not one and the same, nothing supports such a conclusions when you look at what we know of the Nine.

They are primordial beings that are stuck with the gravity cores of souls planets. Yes they are made from dark matter and can manipulate it but they need life to survive. Without us they would cease to be. They exist in a realm where we get insta killed.

2 RepliesThe Nine USE the dark matter around them to do things, but what the Nine really are are the consciousnesses of the nine celestial bodies of our Sol System. The gaiaforms of the nine celestial bodies. Just because the Nine are related to dark matter and the Darkness is called the Darkness doesn’t mean they’re the same. Water itself isn’t a waterPARK just because water parks have water in their name.
