Freelance Version of Trials for Solo players
Bungie needs to remember a good core of there player base plays primarily solo and don't have the time to lfg nor have friends who play either. Please take a weekend to test a freelance version of trials for us solo players. I get trials is the be all end game pvp activity for crucible and requires alot of time and effort and stuff like that, but your screwing us over content we paid for. There is no reason to have a matchmade option for trials or a freelance version.

1 ReplyI agree with OP, freelance trials needs to happen. Solo players get slammed by clans whether or not they LFG with mics or not. It should be the players choice if he wants to join a clan of strangers or just match up against other solo's and hope for the best.

17 RepliesNo. Big fat no. Is there matchmaking for raids? No. I've been a solo player since day 1 of d1 and am 100% against matchmaking for trials. I played plenty of trials in d1, was constantly stomped but finding teammates was never an issue. Trials is also free to all so stop being so offended over nothing.

1 ReplyI agree with a "freelance only" version... perhaps a less rewarding version since you don't have to communicate with your team as much. I don't like the idea of a non-solo matchmade version of trials. Freelance only is different from our usually matchmade* game types. Matchmade includes parties.

Git gud enough where an LFG will take you. Trials is about sweaty teamwork. A freelance version would throw that in the garbage and make it based off of who can carry and throw their kd around the most. Non-freelance needs BOTH teamwork and skill.

6 RepliesFreelance version should just be a no. I'm sorry, but you can't just split the matching pool over and over again. All that does in significantly hinder the effectiveness of any matchmaking system Bungie were to implement. Now a matchmaking system that finds you a team, and then takes that team and throws you into Trials? Sure. I think the best solution would he an in-game LFG system right in the director that incentivized sherpas for raids, master nightfall help, flawless help, IB help, etc.

13 RepliesI am a 50 year old player that is basically a Potato. Flawless is only meant for the best players. The do not have Freelance in the Raid, and they shouldn’t have it in Trials. I got my 3 wins and that was as good as it was going to get. I am ok with that.

1. Trials is FREE. The content you paid for arguement means nothing as the content was free. 2. Don't have the time for lfg. So how in the hell do you have the time for a trials card, especially if you want to go flawless. 3. Impractical. Makes matchmaking times longer for BOTH modes - normal gets longer as less players, the freelance would also be long as it has to match people on same card positions with good connection. 4. As you said, Trials is ENDGAME. And all endgame activities require a fireteam, which should not be changed. 5. Trials requires communication. You cannot get that in a freelance playlist. 6. Trials is meant to be special and exclusive. The average solo should not be able to just go in and get rewards. You need coordination with a premade team. 7. Bungie have said themselves multiple times that it is meant to be highly competitive and therefore requires a premade fireteam.

Trials should always only be solo. Let the cream rise. So many carried players back in D1... Some paid. People flexing. Trials has never been about the individual. It's about team or at least having a good tied player on your team. It's not what it's supposed to be.

Waste of time. The solo queue playlist has repeatedly thrown me against at least 2 unbrokens on a team where I’ve hit legend once. Usually in this situation a teammate leaves the match because they are unable to compete. The trials playlist would be even worse because the objective is to win in streaks. Definitely wouldn’t work with how the solo queue comp playlist matchmaking can determine the outcome of your game. One match you absolutely obliterate a few people who probably have no business matchmaking into that game and the next Bungie wants you to carry the two people you just destroyed against people who are even better than you.

Edited by Demon_XXVII: 3/18/2020 3:40:02 AMI’d suggest you find yourself an active clan (Seems the other two in your clan, whilst they might be actual friends, have abandoned Destiny (6months/4months respectively since they logged on) So maybe it’s time to find a friendly clan/fireteam, guardian 👍 Shows that you’re on XB (I’m sure there are folk on here who will team up/invite you to fireteam/clan - step up community!) If you were on PSN, I’d help you out

Cool idea on paper but it wouldn't work for trials. Imagine you somehow manage to make it to 6 wins without losing (all without communication) and you're on your seventh match. You load in and one of your teammates is afk and your other teammate is killing themselves on purpose to screw your match. Freelance works for comp cause there isn't a huge penalty for losing, it won't work for trials due to the "high stakes" of going flawless. Use lfg.

I'd be OK if later on down the line when they add different game modes to trials that cycle weekly they as a solo game mode thats a 1v1 elimination as long as it comes with over game modes like in D1.
