Is Bungies vision for this franchise just endless bounties?
Look, i still have fun in this game for sure when raiding with my crew etc. I'm fortunate to have a good team i still play with (for now). But like, why does everything have to feel like such a chore? A checklist. Busy work. Pointless grind. Press x, go here, shoot x amount of y. Rinse, repeat.
I like the game, i like the lore, the artstyle, the music, the controls feel tight and fun. I have patience for grind, i've played other mmos. I will sink 100s of hours into levelling and min maxing. But it has to be FUN. Cycling endless bounties is ANTI FUN. This is your game currently.
And yet, despite what i said above about liking most aspects of the the game, sometimes the thought of logging in makes me feel sick lol, like i just dont want to do it. Everythings a checklist. How can i "play how i want" when you guys are having me cycle weapons and mods every 5 mins just to make minor xp gains?
The token system in d2 yr 1 was universally reviled. Yet you guys seem to have doubled down on that style of progression system, to fit your f2p, mobile/gatcha game style.
Listen, i dunno about these seasons bungie. Personaly if THIS, a bounty simulator is your idea of an evolving world, i think you guys need a major rethink.
Im a hardcore player, so i can easily grind this season out. I will have no problem with upcoming endgame content. But you should not be focusing on guys like me, or what the streamers say. You are driving away all the casual players, the lifeblood of your game. Without them, us hardcore players dissapear shortly after. We all need each other to make this game a success. Moreso you need the casual crowd to stick around. But you're drowing these guys out just because they, for whatever reason cant sink in as much time as me.
Seasons, are clearly failing. You cant make exciting and fun content every 3 months. Instead, we get this stale bounty simulator, and goalposts keep moving to try appease the hardcore crowd.

1 ReplyYeah I was trying to get into this, the new event seems like it might be enjoyable after I power up some more...but the grind SUCKS. Bounties, bounties, and more bounties. And there's three more bunkers? Son of a -blam!-. AND you have to clear the bunkers each day just to use them? AND they're going to have those pain in the ass champions? If the others are anything like the twin Overload Captains then I may just skip the season and go back to Star Trek Online. Let the Almighty crash and end the suffering.

3 RepliesI'm just leaving a comment because I agree with almost everyone else: The bounty focus of the game is killing the fun of it. Bungie needs to start truly listening to their players and not just listen to comments they want to acknowledge. I hope Bungie somehow acknowledges this problem and this post. I had a similar post up about a season ago, at about the same amount of upvotes, but Bungie must have not seen it... Good luck and I hope you regain fun in the game, somehow.

3 Repliesi hear what ur saying,logged in a played 6 hrs sofar and will not touch the game again till next season and thats coming from a player who got all seals atm and collection maxed. never been so bored out of my mind having to do endless bounties and run the advent to collect mats to upgrade etc and knowing i have to do that same crap for moon etc and the weapons wow reskin garbage. hopefully next season better

Endless bounties over recycled content and fatigue, sprinkled with weapon retirement so that none of it matters anyway. Bon apetite!

6min loading time to the tower. Meanwhile you can browse eververse, because everything else wont show up. Then another 6mins to pick up bounties until you got no more glimmer. So, of to spider and back to the tower. Another 12mins pass. Take some more overly expensive bounties and of you go. Around 26mins wasted just to get the game started and if you dont have time to complete most of them they expire... What a great game! Remember D1? Bounties didn't cost anything. Didn't expire and didn't require the same weapons over and over. You could jsut do them as a bonus, because activities actually gave XP! But hey, bungie listens to our feedback, right!? They just dont care...

There is no real vision. Yet. That much is kind of evident in how much they ping pong back and forth on fundamental things like Leveling, Loot, Power, Difficulty, etc

1 ReplyAnd everyone hated season of the drifter. It had a way more interesting narrative, plus a really great loot table, that also made you extremely powerful in the game mode. Great pinnacles worth the grind and an actual title that had some interesting layers and felt rewarding o achieve.

2 RepliesNicely said. I'm not hardcore, but I do have around 4000+ hours into this franchise. Personally, I'm sick of the repetitive and boring af quests for exotics, I quit doing those a long time ago. Honestly, just put them in the loot drop pool, and for those that don't want to leave it to RNG, have the quest. This design of every single thing being a rinse and repeat grind needs to go, it just isn't fun. There's so much if this in the game I can't be bothered with any of it. Personally my favorite version of Destiny by a mile was D1 Y3 AoT. I could play exactly how I wanted to play, doing the things I enjoyed and still reach max light. I did it with 6 characters across both platforms and loved it because it was FUN. I liked leveling up with my Vendors, the Vanguard and Crucible. It felt like I was progressing somehow. I liked logging on every week to see the new roles of all the weapons and deciding which ones to buy etc... I liked that I could be at max power for a while without have to think about leveling, but instead just playing and having fun was all I thought about. At this point the only thing left in D2 I do regularly is Iron Banner, aside from that I play some crucible on Friday nights with my last remaining friend that plays this game. The seasons thing is a huge fail in my books. Anyway, I just keep hoping they find that balance you talked about, because without the casuals this game is dead. The silver lining to all this though is I've played a ton of other games since the end of October, and I'm really enjoying The Division 2 😁

3 RepliesI have been a supporter through the best and the worst since the D1 invite only Alpha Phase. I have never been more disappointed with this game than right now. I genuinely hate this season. The thought of logging in to grind my brains out just to have a good enough power level to do the same end game pinnacle content I was doing just last week absolutely pisses me off. It's not even a week and I don't even look forward to playing this crap season. My brother talked me in to the CoD BR and we played the plunder game mode last night. I spent several hours on that and was genuinely having fun with friends again. I forgot games can actually make people feel that way. This is sad man. Not even a week in to the season and I have no real desire to grind it out. No ritual weapons, no new 6 player event, no true narrative ( some cut scenes doesn't count as an engaging story), all we got was a bounty simulator, some cut scenes, a public event that I swear to god 60 percent of the people doing are bots, (KEEP THE DAMN ENEMIES OF THE PILLAR THROW THE BALLS AT THE ORB YOU DAMN NEW LIGHTS. Sorry uncalled for but damn it man.) and trials. Here's the best part.... Trials is a piece of content that came out YEAR ONE of DESTINY ONE! It's a 6 year old piece of content! At least before with Forsaken they took chances and made gambit. Love it or hate it. It's at least something original. BUT BETTER YET.... Trials loot pool hasn't really changed in the 6 years it has been out! LOL You want to know a place that has all sorts of new and great looking content? You guessed it. That stupid ass vendor on the tower that needs real cash to access. Like I am truly pissed off right now. I have been mostly positive about this game even during some missteps hell just this Tuesday I commented about how excited I was for the new season. But this is trash man. Absolute zero effort, half assed, recycled content trash, I will be on still but I will be doing the stuff I enjoy. Raids. The old yet new Trials. and completing some of the exotics I have left to complete the collection. That is if I even find the time to even deal with this crap anymore since MLB the show, COD BR, and Ori are out. Sorry I exploded in to a rand but this is absolutely crazy. I was one of the biggest Destiny fan boys who defended this game even when they made crappy moves but this is like a whole new low.

Agreed the focus on bounties needs to go asap. I don't mind running them for min/maxing my exp, but they are the core focus right now and it feels awful. I'm assuming they mimicked the previous season's design long before the feedback telling them bounties need to go so nothing could be done for this season, but I fully expect next season to tone the focus on them waaaay back. It's simple Bungie, let your players progress via [b]any[/b] activity they choose at an equal rate with the exception giving more progress to end-game activities (trials, comp pvp, raids, grandmaster nightfalls, and nightmare hunts). Along with that the focus needs to be rewards above all. This game gets the shooter portion of looter shooter right, but fails miserably at the looter portion.

Playing this game just makes me feel dirty now, Its utter boredom, Im 40 years of age and thinking back to that first time i played half life, goldeneye, perfect dark, etc..... all the memories i get of enjoyment and having a great experience, then you come to play something like destiny where it seems at the moment that the devs are just doing bare minimum to keep people in the game and spending cash, i mean if all of the creative minds at bungie can only come up with this utter trash then i just really pity them.

buddy there isn't new content really just 'stuff to do' for minimal rewards this is a team stretching out minimal content to the absolute maximum, including repeating the exact same stuff some of us have been doing for 2.5 years our true gripe is why is bungie being so stingy about money, they refuse to boost the content
