Last night I got DDoSed in comp... again. I got on to play with my friend for fun, mostly just messing around not even trying that hard and we lasted two games before I got hit off after we won the first round. My internet was out for 20 minutes. I am putting their names here because I couldn’t report them in game obviously and I do not care about getting banned. If you as a company who was nominated for “best developers” or whatever can’t protect my home IP address then I frankly could not care less about your code of conduct.
Names:
Edit: I took the names out because I would rather be more civil and have a discussion with people rather than just get myself banned. Plus I have now reported them on the app.
Bungie, the state of your game is embarrassing at this point. Forget content and balance and whatever. The key framework of your game is ancient technology, you don’t even have a good foundation to build a game off of. 10 tick 30 fps on peer to peer, what year is it?
“Use a VPN”... No actually I would rather just not play the game. I was already starting to move away from this game anyway so this was the perfect last straw for me to uninstall.
Edit: This post got a lot more attention than I expected and it’s slowing down now but, I’m glad many others agree that it is a glaring issue. I reinstalled today to play with friends and I almost got hit off again; we played comp and one of us was disconnected, internet out and all, when we were up 3-1. Its honestly just funny at this point how poorly handled this game is. If I get DoSed again I’ll make another post I guess, even though its pointless. Thanks to everyone who interacted with the thread

12 RepliesMy router blocks DDOS attempts. Maybe invest in something better than the cheapest routers on market.
-
37 RepliesLMAO - what a joke, oh how the tides have turned, the cheater getting beat at his own game. Enjoy your Just Deserts, guess you need to learn better hacking/cheating codes.
-
1 ReplyIf only there was a way to redirect the bad data packets back at the sender...
-
3 RepliesNot much that can be done so long as it’s Pier to Pier connection.
-
P2P connection is your answer for why it happens, the -blam!-ing system literally lets you see the IP address of the people you’re playing with which makes it so even a toddler can send a massive stream of data packets to your router and effectively boot you offline. Bungie will never replace it because they’re hacks and think that using a system that EXPOSES IP addresses in competitive environments is okay.

2 RepliesAnd matching people with 11 recluse and 14 revoker kills, both at 100% accuracy, on top of having two teammates mysteriously disappearing from the match.
-
Bungie never addresses cheaters. It would mean less players which makes the game look not as good to investors.
-
2 RepliesIt will never be addressed because bungie refuse to ban them.
-
8 RepliesThe first season NF came out, my team probably got DDoSSed 10 times from Mythic to Legend. That's one of the main reasons why I didn't do the grind the seasons after. Didn't get hit once this season. So I thought everything was better. Instead it seems hackers are everywhere on PC. Bungie should've realized that the moment you make a multiplayer game free to play, it needs a system in place that instantly bans players on the spot. Otherwise people are just gonna make dummy accounts and do it again.
-
Never. They dont care. Are you buying stuff from eververse? thats all they care about.
-
When bungie have all the money in the world
-
3 RepliesGlad to see you’re back from the ban, I hope comp goes a little better for ya.
-
4 RepliesYuno what? It's never going to get addressed.
-
2 Replies30hz tick does suck balls, but it could be worse..... Overwatch 21hz Fortnite...also 30hz BO4 20hz MW 20hz And many others.
-
Never. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

4 RepliesSadly, one of the reasons that DDOS'ing seems to be a huge issue in the game, is the constant posts from people that seemingly has no clue what it is. In your case, the one detail that differs from most of them, is the fact that your router was knocked out. That's what Directed Denial Of Service is.... Router get hammered with packets to the point where it has to deny service, cause the current stream of packets takes up all the resources and would crash the router if it continues. Players who exploit packet loss on purpose to affect game, or similar network exploits is the issue in most of the cases who is posted as a complaint about being matched with "DDOS cheaters" It could be argued that DDOS is a problem, but fact is that you need both specific software/HW and slightly more network knowledge than the average/casual player. Wrongly defined discussions (not including this), tend to spawn into a sh'tshow where the ones with real technical knowledge steer away from, instead of creating an informative discussion that would help average players identify their current experience in a game. The current state of confusion, drowns the devs with reports of cheaters, that often may be the result of connection issues in that match and the combination of those players individual issues, with no conscious manipulation.

They’ve been paid so they don’t give a 💩

1 ReplyPeople sell comp recoveries for hundreds per a-hole, so never.
-
Until Bungie stops being cheap, and adheres to the industry standard, by providing Dedicated Servers, the answer is never.
-
11 RepliesYou can’t stop DDOSing lmao
-
Nothing they can do.. I’m on Xbox, an yesterday a friend and I loaded into a game with our team and saw a damn titan floating in the air with Hunter invisibility, then he came down with a thunder crash killing my friend.. remind you that the game had just started so everybody is teleporting in at the same time.
-
I got DDos'd in Cod and ended up spawning in front of an unstoppable Ogre.
-
8 RepliesBut hey, pc is the better platform... right? 😂😂😂
-
Sadly Dossing won’t stop until we get dedicated servers unfortunately
-
When is it going to be addressed? When fusion rifles and shotguns are addressed... so never.

Bungie is basically closing their eyes and praying for the best. Game feels like a yard sale right now.
