• If the game isn't fitting in with your lifestyle then don't play it, simple as that. The game isn't designed to cater to people who work 48+ hours a week and that's not going to change

    • Okay? Life is about choices, you chose one thing to give up another. Destiny wasn't designed to cater perfectly for just your life and schedule. If you get busy and the game goes on without you that isn't really bungies fault especially when they have been pretty transparent with how this season would roll out prior to the fact.

      • So you want the game to be over quicker for yourself? You can be 950 for next 6 months and still be able to play everything. You just want a number as the end game for you? I don't understand why people are in such a hurry to finish the game?

        • It sucks, but it is what it is. In your position, I think I'd lean more towards games with greater scope for pick up and play. Outer Worlds is supposed to be sick, I actually liked what I played of Modern Warfare, Elite Dangerous is a good example of a timesink that doesnt have a timer, Civilization 6 is coming to XB1 and PS4, Stellaris is already out... I enjoy the direction Destiny has taken, but I can definitely appreciate its not for everyone.

          • You have put in a lot of hours not surprised you are over it! That’s why there’s nothing to do . Destiny is designed to keep bringing people back and staying on for as long as possible . I haven’t even started new dungeon quest but in no rush . Have a break 👍

          • Nobody says you have to devote your life to this game. I play a day or two a week...still have 2 characters past 950...all I do is whatever is new and interesting to me...then log off.

            • I am failing to understand your dilemma here. Your “busy.” But your already 950. Now, you only have a limited amount of time to play. You only need to do one raid a week and one NF a week. Which only takes a limited amount of time, perfect for someone who is busy... time or lack thereof, just doesn’t seem to be your problem. Correct me if I am wrong... but what I hear you saying is your an addict. So you used until you reached 950 and now, your supply is getting low... now that supply is low, you have a problem with your dealer and may have to find another. Maybe it’s just me... a fellow husband, father of two, full time employee, and small business owner. I don’t even have time to reach 950, get all the pinnacle weapons, and be raid ready days before they launch 😂. So I play when I can, advance as much as I can. The rest will just have to wait until the next time I sign in. 🤷‍♂️

              • I wouldn't worry too much about trying to keep up with the Joneses when it comes to this game. Own your time. Play when you can as long as you enjoy it. When the fun stops, drop it like a rock and move on. The new season design bothers me as well. I dont like the sense of urgency that content removal creates. Playing through what I have so far hasn't exactly sold me on future season iterations, and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for advancing levels/gear. I'll toss a couple bucks over for a cosmetic or two but the line is drawn there.

I think of it like the bad 'ol days before VCRs. If you missed a TV show you were pretty much screwed and had to wait until reruns, assuming there were reruns. Just with D2 there's no guarantee of content "reruns" and so no guarantee of 100% completion. I don't think there's a right or wrong here, only Bungie's choices with their game. Players will just vote with their wallets one way or another. Yes I'm old.

              • I'm not being hateful by any means, but maybe you need to play another genre of games. Sounds like your too busy to really dig into Destiny. Most people like the depth and time sink the game offers. Good luck, hope you find time somehow.

              • It’s a video game man. You’re not supposed to have time to play that much when you’ve got a life unless you’re a streamer, pro or it’s your job in some respect. They’re not catering to people who can only play once a week or every two weeks. That’s just life. We grow up, priorities change. So sure you can leave forever or you can just play whenever you’re able and do some raids or PvP with friends, drink a beer and have fun.
I was like like why would they make 90‰ of the game pointless once you hit 950? Then hearing you tubers breaking down the time it's going to take to grind... I'm out.
Because it ISN"T pointless. THE POINT OF LOOT-BASED GAMES ISN'T TO REACH LEVEL CAP. That's what this community has had such a hard time understanding....and Bungie is partly at fault for this because feeding into this mindset that doing so was a "goal of play"....helped them to divert attention from many of the game's short comings. There are two kinds of progression in a game like this. Vertical (levellng up)....and HORIZONTAL (optimizing the power fo your character/min-maxing). THE END game in a loot-based game is not about vertical progression to level cap.....its about HORIZONTAL PROGRESSION and optimizing your build and your character. Take Borderlands 3. No one cares in that game what level your Vault Hunter is....or wnat Item Level your gear is. what they care about is which/how many Legendaries you have....what are their stat rolls....and how powerful your build is. The end game in BL 3 is that you grind harder and harder content to get better and better drops (in terms of item QUALITY and stat rolls) in order to keep refining your Vault Hunter. The end game in Shadowkeep is similar. The end game is not getting to 960. IN fact....with the open-ended progression that the Seasonal Artifact offers....any progression given by "Pinnacle drops" is purely optional. In fact, the real end-game value of "Pinnacle rewards" isn't their power level...its the fact that armor tends to drop with better stat rolls than you can get in other parts of the game...and the activities provide the upgrade materials you need to increase the energy level of your armor. So you can equip more---and better---mods. This kind of HORIZONTAL progression---optimization and min-maxing---is how most MMOs and RPGs work. Its Destiny that has been the outlier up to this point. Because the game was more concerned about making the game friendly and approachable for more shooter-oriented gamers. They didn't "design you out of the game". They changed the focus of the end game such that its progression is more like that of a typical RPG. TLDR: You aren't supposed to be grinding for level cap---there IS NO level cap with the Seasonal Artifiact. You're supposed to be grinding FOR LOOT. Best rolls on weapons. Best stat rolls on Armor. Upgrade materials to increase the energy level of your armor so you can equip the best mods. THAT"S the new end game. I dont' care about Pinnacle drops beyond the better stat rolls they tend to give on armor drops.

              • FOMO is all in your head, if your worried about not playing a DLC that cost you £10 for a couple of weeks then you really have issues.

                • The 950 to 960 grind is pointless. 10 levels doesn't make a difference and you have the artifact for getting higher power levels. Now the seasonal rewards that require you to grind XP is the real issue here and I can agree paying for a season and then not getting a chance to play much during the season sucks since the expectation is that the seasonal stuff goes away when the next one begins.

                • You are thinking about this all wrong. You don't have to get max. Anything over 950 is a bonus. Its there for people that want longevity.

                • They can't cater the game to everyone. Due to California fires, I've been having to work 10 hour shifts, six days a week. It's not Bungie's fault. Life just gets in the way sometimes.

                • Yes yes. You're not special. Everyone has a life, everyone has their own things to do. Jobs, uni, school, family, hobbies, friends you name it. Everyone has those responsibilities and everyone has the same problems as you. Everyone has 24 hours in the day to use how they wish. Just because someone else wants to put more of those 24 hours toward somthing they love to do, in this case Destiny, doesn't make them any less of a player than you. Just because you don't WANT to put the time or effort into a game doesn't mean the game should revolve around you either. Why would Bungie cater to people who don't want to spend a lot of time in the game? Why wouldn't they cater to the people who want to play a lot? That said, you wouldn't even be correct in saying that the whole game is catered to the hardcore / dedicated players who spend a ton of hours in game either. There is plenty to do for people who play am average amount. Can you just play the game, or don't play the game, or do whatever you want with those 24 hours. But don't make a scene about somthing that isn't an issue in the first place.

                    •
Ok, so this is view of Destiny from my perspective and how it fits with my lifestyle. I am small business owner, a husband, and a father of 2. Just to give you some context of where I'm coming from. So these are the issues of why I believe I or people like me have been designed out of the game. Once I hit 950 and realized the only way to progress was 1 raid and 1 NF. I was like like why would they make 90‰ of the game pointless once you hit 950? Then hearing you tubers breaking down the time it's going to take to grind... I'm out. Now I have a countdown timer telling me when to play. I didn't think this was going to be an issue boy was I wrong. Seasonal rewards are a poor design. Telling people you have a certain amount of time to get what you paid for and if you miss out you wasted your money. My life got real busy lately and I havn't been able to relax and play for over a week now and it's going to be another 2 weeks before I am able to relax and play video games again. I shouldn't have to worry about a video game when life takes over. I should be able to play a game that I purchased when I am able to play and without fear of missing out. Why? Because life is more important and always will be. They really went after that FOMO psychological tactic with this DLC. I can't continue with this franchise with this model not because I don't want too but because my lifestyle doesn't fit the new model. Thanks for designing me out of your game Bungo. Been a Destiny fan since D1 beta. Smh
It’s a video game, most adults treat it as such. It’s something to do when everything else in life is squared away. Some make this game as their priority, but then again it’s one of the perks of still living with mommy. If playing this game is of importance, hire someone to take over your duties at work and at home. “Discipline Equals Freedom” - Jocko Willink
