15 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 10/11/2019 11:48:55 AM1. Semi-automatic design with or without selective fire modes. 2. Reduce caliber of bullet from traditional rifle rounds to preserve muzzle velocity, kinetic energy and magazine capacity. 3. Magazine fed. 4. Powder charge that is intermediate in size between a standard handgun cartridge and a standard rifle cartridge. With the goal of producing a high muzzle velocity round, but one with reduced recoil to allow for greater accuracy at the cost of range. IOW. Range is sacrificed for a weapon that produce a high volume of accurate fire inside of 300 meters while still have significant stopping power. Which is the range at which most small unit infantry engagements take place in actual combat, and the factor that usually determines which side survives and prevails. TLDR: Any semiautomatic rifle that is a descendant of the German **Sturmgewher** (StG)-43. Which literally translates to English as “ Assault Rifle-43”. The -blam!- used do designate their field issue weapons by the year they went into mass production and were issued. In this case 1943. It’s why this design(which I described above and that the StG-43 pioneered) is called an “assault rifle”. Anyone familiar with firearm history knows this...and knows that it is this kind of weapon is being referred to... and just pretend that they don’t as a disingenuous debate tactic in an effort to muddy the waters and suppress debate regarding the civilian ownership of these weapons and the public health problems that result from their mass distribution.

8 RepliesThe definition of "Assault Weapon" is more opinion than fact here. Generally, it's assigned to a firearm that can shoot at rifle caliber with full auto/burst fire functionality. Which have been widely banned already without special permits and what have you. Now, what I think should happen is to require a license to own anything that doesn't manually cycle, and have consistent outlines across the entire country, as opposed to having it be a state-by-state issue. Also, socialised mental healthcare for those who can't afford that, but can afford a gun.

I find it is when I pour salt on it or send it to the D2 subforum.

3 RepliesUsually a max effective range of at least 300 meters. A large (technically it's only a medium) capacity detachable box magazine. A selector switch. And a few more features that I forget. From what i've heard, it's really just a term coined by the media.

15 RepliesCan we stop w all the all hesteria. There is not even one piece of gun legislation, in either house of Congress, under consideration. For 8 full years we had to listen to "Obama's gonna take our guns". Yet, at the end of the day, the only gun legislation Obama signed while in office actually expanded the right to carry concealed weapons in National Parks. Now, even w Obama out of office, and zero chance Trump would even sign a gun bill, we still have to listen to the same drivel about people taking guns day in and day out. It reminds me of my grandmother, who lives in a town where the worst crime is an occasional bike theft, worrying constantly about someone breaking into her house. This, despite the fact that there have been no break-ins in her town, let alone her gated community, in years. I understand it from my grandmother, because she is an old lady w nothing else to worry about. However, the same is not true for all the hysterical gun nuts constantly whining about people taking their guns. Honestly, take a trip, read a book, or do whatever, but stop boring the rest of us w useless complaining and whining about something that is not going to happen.

There's no such thing as an actual assault rifle. You can get close to one, but they don't exist.

1 ReplyThe replies on this post explain why our government sucks. We spend too much time fisting each other instead and helping the country.

5 RepliesI personally believe we need assault weaponry for citizens, all ready the AR-15 is 9/10 weaker than ANY true assault rifle in military... And if there is an invasion from another country, we will be able to defend our selfs... And before you say “we have the military to support us” here’s a article on japan during WW2 https://historynewsnetwork.org/article/150227

19 RepliesThe AR-15 assault rifle is the most dangerous assault weapon to possibly exist. Nothing except the AR-15 can throw that much lead downrange in such a short amount of time. The AR-15 has taken countless million lives across the nations. The AR-15 is responsible for several different wars around the world and ended the Roman and Japanese empire, the AR-15 is the embodiment of pure evil and has been summoned from hell just to make us humans suffer. The AR-15 has wiped out hundreds of galaxies from our known universe, and conservatives choose to allow this dangerous assault weapon to be sold. As a proud liberal mother of seven and have been through an abortion, I think that the AR-15 assault rifle is destroying my children’s futures. This is why we should abolish the first, second and fourth amendment, the bill of rights is a living document and should be dead.
