Disagree.
Eminem.
Music is **culture**. You cannot ""borrow" someone else's and deliver it convincingly. But hip-hop is over 40 years old as a musical style....which is PLENTY of time for many white artists to have grown up listening to it, and to assimilate it culturally.
A point I realized when heard Living Colour (an African-American metal band from the 1980s) play for the first time.....and when I heard Celine Dion and Christina Aguilera sing for the first time. Both of them had so completely mastered the vocal "language" of R&B, that both of them fooled me at first. I thought I was listening to a black woman sing.
You can only do that when you have such a deep love for a particular music style that you listen to so much of it...that it literally becomes a part of who you are a person.
