The unnecessary grinding involved with Solstice is making me slowly hate Destiny again, that when it's over, I don't think I will be in Shadowkeep. It's burning me out completely. I just wanted a cool armor set, a cool title, and a cool pin. I understand working to get something you desire, but Bungie wants us to do all three characters just to get the Sparrow.
I understand it's supposed to be done over the course of the month, but 135 steps for all 3 Majestic sets when 90% of the community has life things to do aside from this like: work and taking care of children. Destiny should not be a full time job. 9 hours to go from Set 1 to Set 2? Then from Set 2 to Set 3 is unknown for me right now??? That's ridiculous, even if the player base data mined the steps prior and saved up tons of bounties.

Looks like the decision to delay shadowkeep ,was factored into the decision to make the activity requirements so overly repetitive. Last solstice grind was ok, this time round bit over the top . grind is fine when the goal is to get great looking gear that has a purpose ,and stays in your collections if bungie implemented this system ,im sure everyone would be content. no more reskins please.

2 RepliesI got to green armor and stopped

If you're feeling burnt out, then stop playing. Easy solution to an easy problem. I quit playing for almost 3 months, came back about 2 weeks ago and have been enjoying it not because of the new content but because I gave myself a break. We all need to allow ourselves to miss things, even destiny. SoH won't make or break you come Shadowkeep and I am pretty confident that majority of players will quickly replace their shiny solstice armor for armor they get in the new upcoming dlc. Do yourself a favor amigo and just step away from the game for a month or two - go outside, read a book, draw, play a different game. I promise you that come Shadowkeep time you will be refreshed and motivated to go again.

Edited by Jebus Kreist: 8/2/2019 10:05:28 AMIt burnt me out before I even finished my green solstice armor. Tbh I neither have the time or desire to play 10 gambit matches, 10 strikes, nor 10 nessus public events. The most exciting part of the weekly reset so far hasn't even been solstice for me. It's been the fact that I finally got Tarrabah. I'd keep playing the raid for a well-rolled Courtesy... but I like Threat Level more since it's an uncommon archetype and doesn't look like a rusty POS.

I never had the idea to grind the armor again on the hunter and Titan. it takes to much time! I don’t care if Bungie likes it, but I‘m not gonna spend an entire week grinding for all of the steps till legendary (+Masterwork) on every character!
-
I finished my green helmet and i said fock this...
-
It’s burning out your fuse because you’re trying to grind everything in a day or two! Take your time with it.

1 ReplyIt just way too much of a grind to even contemplating doing it

8 RepliesForcing me to play shitty gambit and crucible. FVCK OFF BUNGIE!

Go about your ‘usual’ business in the game.

#RealTalk. On top of wich I only grinded for it because I read some where that it was gonna be armor 2.0. Was supposed to be a preview for what we get in sept... opp I guess October now. And low and behold it's just regular crapy d2 armor. Until Oct. So dissaponted. On top of wich the croma affects we got from last year are way waaaaay down. So you can make your armor cool colors with shaders. That glow is gone. When you buy the affects.... wich .... dont even get me started the price is redick!! They are really just bending people over. But die hards cant get anuff. It's all a bit much for regular armor. That is toned down from last year. I mean I played 24 hr straight to get my set updated. That's alot of time. As usual with bungie your time is not reworded properly. They wanna be able to show those number. As long as your playing they dont care if your enjoying it

11 RepliesThe problem is your trying to do it all on 1 day. It's a 4 week event... If you do an hour a day it's more than enough time to complete it
-
5 Repliesi finished my set this morning and honestly the grind isn’t horribly long or hard. it’s just very boring. i’d rather flawless any raid again over having to do that grind because at least it’s not mind numbingly boring. but it only took me about 20 hours over the last 2 days playing on and off mostly in the afternoon and night.
-
It’s a really simple solution to this problem.... don’t do it!. I quickly came to this conclusion that getting this amour wasn’t worth the effort for me. I enjoy grind like getting fabled each season, but this amour isn’t enjoyable to me. You just got to weigh up how much do you want that amour?
-
Done my hunt armor frim blue to purple with absolute legs for ~16 hours as soli player. So-so... some points could be a bit less annoying. Will do my warlock armor in casual mode, hope ti purple it cliser to october. It’s complicated just if u r in this race where ppl want to have everything in 1st day.
-
Uh, I got the first set done in three days... and I have a life, a job, a family. It's. Not. That. Bad.

I think the coolest gear should always be the hardest to get, but i'm at odds with Bungie's definition of difficulty. I want to be rewarded for being good at the game, not for having lots of free time. Some of the last upgrade requirements are great : complete a shattered throne run in a fireteam of two or fewer and 200K prestige nightfall are hard to do and should lead to the best stuff. But i'll never get to that step because i don't want to run 10 public events on nessus, i don't want to grab 500 elemental orbs, i don't want to arbitrarily run a solar subclass in strikes or an ark subclass in crucible/gambit, ESPECIALLY when the event imposes a daily singe. I -blam!-ing despise PVP in this game for all the reasons everyone constantly complains about around here : comp matches starting despite teams of 2V4, broken heavy ammo economy, super snowballing to the point where comp matches turn into mayhem halfway into them... And yet i'm supposed to reset my valor rank ? In whatever time will be left AFTER i completed all the menial tasks the initial upgrades require ? Why ? Give us a choice ! Have multiple activities reward progress ! Have the objective be "reset valor rank OR infamy rank once in season 7" so we have a choice between equally hard activities. Also have armor pieces upgrade one at a time instead of all at once, so if i completed my boots' objectives i get to work on the next level boots while i do other armor pieces. It just feels like arbitrary time gating as it stands.
-
Yeah, this “event” couldn’t have been designed any worse. They might as well have just made it all unlock after you punched 10,000 shanks while in an arc subclass in the strike playlist. There are plenty of games that have transitioned to F2P successfully, but not like this
-
It's just a mind numbing, tedious, grind through the same crap we've been grinding for years. The only thing this is achieving is temporarily making me skip out on doing the stuff I actually have fun with and want to do (i.e. raids); in favour of sitting in a party talking to friends to keep myself conscious, barely paying attention to the game, grinding.
-
5 RepliesEdited by DHawk12: 8/2/2019 5:07:39 AM1 month is more than enough time and the masterwork requirements can be done after the event and they are also retroactive (which is why some people already have the new seal). I probably wont grind all 3 characters not because of the time limit but just because the challenges are too boring.
-
I knew solstice was gonna have a grind to it (keep in mind your supposed to work on it over the course of a month) and it was the only thing I was interested in doing so I deliberately took a 3 week break before hand so I didn’t feel the way you seem to be as that happened to me last solstice
-
2 RepliesGrind? I got it in two days. And it was damn fun
-
2 RepliesAgreed it’s only been 3 days, but here’s my problem. The grind is not proportional to the reward. What’s the total game time grind needed to get a full set? Let’s estimate it’s 24 hours of game time. For that kind of grind you would think we’d be getting one of the top armor sets in the game with the best perks. I’m pretty sure it’s not going to be otherwise there would be no point in playing Shadowkeep. We’ve spent longer than that just assembling armor sets with the right perks for our load outs. This event just seems badly thought out and a bad attempt to give us something to grind on before the next content update. The grind is fine, but make it worth it.
-
I don’t see a big issue with the quest. I’ve already got my hunter set and it’s beyond worth it
-
Pretty stupid I have to do these FRUSTRATING AND IMPATIENT challenges on all 3 classes, that is bullsh*t.
its not fun it’s down right miserable that TWAB article has lied to us.
-
5 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 8/1/2019 6:53:46 PMThen slow down. When you don’t feel like playing. Don’t force the issue. It’s a game. It’s supposed to be fun. It’s not a job. The key is multitasking. You work on multiple things at the same time. I’m still in the green armor. But I’m going start loading up on bounties in preparation for that step with blue armor.
