The Coming Storm

So we all know by now that the darkness is coming back to finish the job, but I also wanted to talk about what characters in the universe are doing about it. So, lets begin. By the way, If I make an error in anyway with anything, please feel free to correct me! Mara Sov: Mara is one of the only characters in destiny right now to know of the coming war, she left us last year to check out what is going on with the darkness, and supposedly she is currently in trouble. ------------- Calus: There is not much to say on Calus. He knows the darkness is coming and he is certain that there is no way in saving ourselves. So instead, Calus is just waiting for the end of the universe, with our guardian at his side. ------------- The Drifter: The Drifter is another character that knows about the coming darkness, he has even told our guardian that the imminent war cannot be fought with the light alone. I'm guessing that once the darkness grows ever closer, he's going to pack up and leave. ------------- The Vanguard: Currently, I don't think the vanguard knows about the darkness. If they did somehow, I feel like it would only make things worse for the teetering vanguard order. ------------- The Nine: The Nine were always kind of creepy.. They were the sole reason for the city being attacked by the Red Legion and the escape of Skolas. But I feel like they are doing all of this for a reason, and I'm excited to find out what it is. ------------ Rasputin: This one is pretty interesting because Rasputin has been pretty quiet for some time. I wonder if he will detect the darkness again when it gets closer to our system just like he did all the way back in the golden age. Only time will tell. ------------ And I think that is it for the most part, I was thinking about putting Eris Morne here but I think I should wait till Shadowkeep to see what she knows. Anyway, I'm really interested with this story arc with the darkness. Whatever is coming, it will truly be terrifying, terrifying enough to cause a mass evacuation of the moon Titan because the people were so terrified of what they saw. Be brave everyone, hold close to the light for now, and thank you for reading!

  • I think it’s also worth noting that Toland could also be on this list. If we could only get him to actually listen and engage in conversation, then we may learn a great deal about the darkness (not that it matters) but it would expand the lore and feed into Drifter’s ideals of using Dark to fight Dark.

    • I think most of the guardians are aware the Darkness is coming now. In a lore page/item description released recently, it is explain that guardians are asking some request to Callus, like a defense treaty, more weapons, if it is his real appearance and information about those tetrahedron ships. I am sure that Zavala is aware of their coming and is actively involved in the defense of the city.

      • <Of course Mara would be in trouble. If she actually went to fight or see the Darkness, then it would be her dumbest idea yet and she's had some doozies. The Nine are split. We don't know which side of the Nine were responsible for the Red Legion slipping under the radar. The 5 want communication but never anticipate the damage left by their actions. They didn't know freeing Skolas would -blam!- things up and they seem to feel remorse, even if only a little. The other 4 don't want us to exist because we're stupid. The way the 4 are described makes them seem like the desperate ones.>
