How is it really THAT bad to many of you? I've never had any issues with it.
I still don't have any issues with it right now.
This is the second season in a row I managed to reach fabled in competitive mostly solo. I earned recluse, Luna's Howl, revoker, and hopefully mountaintop in the past 2 seasons.
The craziest thing about it all? I don't even use the meta. I'm not a shotgun user, I don't snipe that much, I barely use hand cannons, and I certainly don't use erentil unless I'm just screwing around.
I just don't get how people are having such an issue if I'm not. Sure everything is opinion and subjective, but come on, stop complaining so hard and just play.

Hitting Fabled isn't the problem, it's going higher. I've also hit Fabled the past few seasons either solo or with one friend, but getting into Mythic and beyond is next to impossible without a stacked team.

Edited by Gigafloh: 7/18/2019 3:25:44 PMI think the main problem is because most of them suck. So the game is the problem and not themselves. I've never seen so many bad players in any game than in Destiny 2's PvP. The loadout doesn't even matter. People standing while shooting, having no radar and map awareness etc. It's most likely due to the fact that most players spend their time in hilariously easy PvE content, like strikes and adventures and don't improve their skills by fighting those dumb AI enemies. If I would play Halo only on easy and normal all day and then occasionally jump into PvP I would suck too. Or the game just attracts people who normally would have never picked up a PvP-FPS. What's a real issue though are games that start with less players in comp. That makes it hardly enjoyable and drives anyone who finished their pinnacle weapon chase into QuickPlay.
-
I have fun. I solo queue and I got a lot better though. I stopped whining about it and just kept getting better. So I can fight a recluse or NF with thorn in console and do well now.
-
did some matches this week. but still getting matches against clans and full stacks is still an issue. also its getting annoying when u arw the only one in the team who is doing positive ad still loose
-
Connections are horrendous and there is zero consistency. Fix those two and that would be a massive improvement, until then no... it’s not fun.
-
It's terrible. I watch guys on you tube with TTK in milliseconds...... I'll offload a machine gun against someone with a pea shooter .. and lose. P2P favours some over the majority. On top of this, those with better internet get the pinnacle weapons which it just makes it worse. Fair enough for those that excel at PVP, however there are many that have got pinnacle weapons in PVP on the the back of good P2P connection.
-
1 ReplyIt's probably fine for people with lightening fast internet that live in densely populated areas. In Australia, our internet sucks arse and if you live more than 100km from the ocean you are considered remote or regional and your internet is slower than a wet week. Pair that with the fact our population is so low it's hard to actually get full matches so we are often playing against or with other countries within Asia. This is why my crucible experience is less than awesome.

2 RepliesCrucible itself is good. Matchmaking is what makes it horrid. Stop matching stacks with solos. No pinnacle weapons in Quickplay. Give comp an actual ranking system. Curated loadout for comp using weapons and armor that take no inventory space and are only available while you’re in comp matches. Make it truly about skill. Bring D1 Trials back. All weapons-armor allowed. Once you’ve gone flawless for the week you’re done. You only match against cards with the same number of wins. Everyone on your team must have the same number of wins/losses on their cards. Cards with three losses can be exchanged for a fresh card for no charge. Put a high price on cards to prevent carry abuse, half of the max glimmer.

yes, its trash. I play PvP predominantly in every game except D2. green ammo apes is the meta and any decent gun will get -blam!- about until Bungie nerfs it (recluse nerf is coming, just wait) meanwhile 2 minute roaming supers and team aping with shotguns and fusions are everywhere. only things needed nerfed are roaming supers and the green ammo economy but then people will need to aim and the salt will flow

7 RepliesHere's the thing, I LIKE the PVP, I LIKE crucible, but I HATE their completely unbalanced matchmaking system, I HATE the complete lack of balance in weapons and skills and most of all I ABSOLUTELY HATE their worthless, trash tier server system that leaves about 1 in 5 to 1 in 10 matches actually feeling consistent to play. The difference between getting the good server connection and not getting it is like night and day. You can get 1 match where all your hits are crispy and snappy on target, everything just flows, headshots for days. Then you can load into the next match and only half your shots ever register... you constantly get kill trades with players you clearly had the drop on, and you end up dying in cover over and over because opponent hits are registering before your movement. The vast majority of issues with PVP are on Bungies side of the fence, and a lot of players just aren't going to keep banging their head against a wall trying to make something work that they have no control over. There's no 'git gud' against poorly designed and implemented systems, doesn't matter how good you are if your opponent is halfway across the world and none of your shots register on them

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 7/18/2019 1:00:28 PMI think people would enjoy it more if they weren’t directed to it through any pursuits. If they played it when they wanted to because they were in a competitive mood. Not because your weekly character progression may be limited by skipping it, or it’s required to progress an exotic quest, or to get a specific weapon, etc. When it comes to something that exists as a piece of entertainment, ENTERTAINMENT, competition is not something someone should be directed to for the sake of something else. For the sake of something they acquired elsewhere. Nor should you have your experience dictated in a way that hinders you or your team in said competition as part of that pursuit. It does not, nor has it ever, made any sense. At all. Individual pursuits and competing, ESPECIALLY while on a team, are two fundamentally opposing things that do not belong together. Literally, fundamentally opposing. Destiny PvP will ALWAYS suffer for this impracticality that they insist on imposing. I’d still occasionally play it even if no pursuits directed me to. I’d like it better if rank was a continual thing across the entire D2 career and not something that reset every season that was used to get people to play massive amounts of it each season for whatever reason.
-
2 RepliesIt's not a fun experience solo. I usually leave it for the last activity of the week, since I typically end up ruining almost any mood that I am in. I have hit Heroic for the first time ever and as soon as I finish Fabled, I am done with comp. If I can't get to Fabled this season, then I won't be trying again.
-
I think people would enjoy it more if the penalty for losing wasn't so harsh. It's unfair to receive a penalty for losing because someone in your team left or you're matched against people who are far better than you etc. I for one have always hated PvP however I'm starting to dabble in it more and more, simply because I want mountaintop and recluse. The more I play the more I'm enjoying it (and the better I'm getting). I can see why people hate it. Balancing is a mess.
-
Destiny 1 pvp felt fresh and always fast paced, however Destiny 2 feels thieving awkward, sweat favouritism.
-
5 RepliesI just can't play it for long periods at a time. It's just not d1 pvp. Only time I'm having fun is when mayhem is active. Hell Gambit prime is funner.

Edited by Wheelaa1: 7/17/2019 12:53:19 PMIt's considered an industry joke. But what really matters is whether D2 players enjoy it! And I can safely say, the vast majority of D2 players do not enjoy it. Looking at the figures, usually 50%+ of unique daily players dabble in PvP. Yet at any given moment the number of concurrent PvP players is at best 20%, usually in that 15-18% range. That says that the vast majority of people who venture into D2 PvP each day barely touch it. Forced quests and powerful loot drops boost the numbers, as opposed to quality enticing gameplay whch should decide the numbers. And don't get me started on how PvP led to launch D2, and how PvP has effected every element of Destiny since launch in 2014. For some pathetic reason, Bungo think catering to that 15-18% to the detriment of the other 80%+ is the way to go...Bungo Bungo Bungo...

What can I say? Crucible just isn’t fun (for me and loads of people). It could be in the “best state” ever and I still couldn’t give two figs about it. And FYI it’s not even about how good/bad I am at it or my win/loss ratio.....I simply and plainly don’t like crucible. It’s like that strike on Nessus that most people freekin hate doing simply cause they don’t like it.
-
it is THAT terrible.
I‘m tired of explaining it again.
-
I would play, if it actually felt like fun. I don't enjoy the experience, so I don't even bother with it anymore. All I used to play was COD multiplayer so I am used the competitive side of games, I just find it to be severely lacking in any kind of enjoyability. I can't even get a shot off most of the time, never mind a kill. Just my opinion though.
-
It depends how you feel about competitive multiplayer ... It is totally possible to do all the things you have done, but in the wider scheme its unbalanced and frequently not fun. That's the biggest issue I feel. Totally unbalanced, lame match making algorithm and just a chore most of the time. I still play it because I do my weekly challenges but it's rare I don't come away from it disgruntled or otherwise irked
-
Its full of abilities able to one shot you, or leave you on the smallest bit of health. Almost impossible to shutdown supers with anything but a super, so activating a super is like accepting an invitation to your death. Hand cannons, johnton, beloved is getting old and bungie doesn't want to change anything about it, probably in fear of creating a D2 Y1 again. And the matchmaking system, going into quickplay as a solo only to be matched up with a 4-6 stack. So yea, i like to stay away from it if it wasnt for the exclusive weapons
-
I avoid it completely unless Bungie forces me to with quests or other carrots, but it is never not a shitshow.
-
It’s bad.
-
The maps just feel way too small to me, and it seems like a lot of people are either slide shotgunning or pre-charging an erentil which just isn't my cup of tea. Autorifles don't really have much of a place in crucible unless they have a high rate of fire and I think most scouts are lacking as well because of how small maps feel as well as handcannons feeling like they have scout range, but no scope so they're easy to use up close as well. Then you have competitive which only compounds all that. Especially with 4-stacks vs non 4-stacks and locking crucible pinnacle weapons behind it. Sure, I've reached fabled myself and most of the pinnacle weapons, even did it queuing as a solo, but I dislike every minute I play competitive. I also dislike that Not Forgotten and the MIDA catalyst are locked behind legend rank which is a fever dream for most. Either because of the glitches happen in competitive right now, or people DDOSing, or people running recoveries or carries.
-
Oh YES, It's awful. D1 was fun pvp, D2 pvp for me is now to be avoided at any costs. Just NOT a fun place for me, so do not go there.
