Why does bungie hate auto rifles?

They suck at balancing stuff. Autos are pretty easy to use thus they dont know what to do with em

1 ReplyTo be honest, anything thats not a hand cannon, shotgun or rocket is what bungie hates for some reason. The next exotic coming to destiny is you guys guessed it, another hand cannon. Its come to a point where using anything thats not the 3 meta archetypes takes more skill to pull off. Hand cannons are so easy to use and require much less work, literally tap-tap-tap dead. With an auto rifle you have to consistently stay on target and land as many crits as you can before you get 3 tapped by a hand cannon even when you are using the auto at its strongest range.

Its not that they dont like them its just a great majority of the community will use them when they're good. Bungie doesnt balance guns based on the guns stats in compared to others. They only balanced based on how many people use them. This is the main reason why they have trouble with weapon balance. Whats even worse in this situation they will never make changes to individual legendary weapons making so many of them useless.

I actually really like autos in crucible. Suros is actually really strong. 450s are still powerful, 600s are crispy. Just get one with rampage and zen moment and they all become death lasers. Also PLEASE Bungie make a legendary Trace Rifle or make them take primary ammo again 😭

Autos are fine. Take ghalrans right hand for example. Has a ttk of 0.83 on all precision. The problem is you are exposed, ads-ing. A handcannon does not have that drawback.

dramund3 You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold

ARs were quite powerful in year one, then someone cried and they decided that instead of tweaking the damage a little bit or evening out the damage... They decided to nerf the ARs while buffing some other weapon ( Can't remember is Scouts were next or before the ARs ) and ARs were compeletely useless after this and have been ever since. The damage/health model in this game is extremely simple with low numbers especially in PvP and it's mind-boggling that they can't get it right after all these years.

They loved them in y1. The uriels days. Origin story, prosecuter, Last breath, scathlock ect were everywhere.

There are alot of bad players that believe it takes no skill to use an auto rifle yet they use bygones and 3 tap handcannons. There are some that can be meta but not enough people that are experienced with autos to even matter or would use them. (Cerebrus +1,Halfdan, sweet business, Age old bond, gnawing hunger with correct rolls,tigerspite with correct rolls,and Suros Regime). There are options but not alot. There are a few rogue autos that are good but i wouldn't recommend them.

2 RepliesYou mean scout rifles. Scouts used to be a fun weapon. They're crap now and as a primary scout user across all modes in D1, it's been pretty lackluster in D2 for me. Using it in PvP is damn near useless because of map sizes.
