I'm currently at work, which you know, normal people do, so sometimes I have to stop reading and deal with customers. Therefore people may forget where they were in a paragraph or what they read. Also Dictionary result for slang /slaNG/ noun 1. a type of language that consists of words and phrases that are regarded as very informal, are more common in speech than writing, and are typically restricted to a particular context or group of people. I wouldn't expect you to know that though. Has nothing to do with being shorter or longer.
