Useless Info / TL;DR
I love playing this game in my spare time, and I find the gameplay very fun. Fun enough to go through on 3 characters without much hesitation.
I am not at end game on any character. I will have to wait a few more weeks to be able to get there without 20 hours a day of grinding 1-4 power at a time; that's acceptable, I'm use to time being a factor in games and have no real problem with the way power level works.
Over the past few days I've been trying to complete, and experience things for fun.. and as a solo player; that is not an option. I tried to do Leviathan; maybe possible alone... not for me (Titan, didn't try others). Fair enough, it is a raid. It's intended for multiple players, going alone would always be difficult or impossible.
I tried Last Wish, using Fireteam finder. Thought I could break some of the "Solo only" mentality and maybe actually beat a raid.
Needless to say, a group of strangers who barely know what they're doing; leading people who have never tried before... unsuccessful. After 4 hours of struggle, trash talking and retrying things too many times to count. I'm not too eager to use that resource again.
Today; Attempted to complete The Whisper... a "secret" mission for an exotic weapon.
I was so eager going into it, and was completely let down by being stomped into the dirt, and realizing I would need a fireteam to complete it. Again.. maybe possible for someone better or a different class.. but not for me.
I don't have friends.. even if I did... they may not share my love for Destiny 2 enough to be coming on daily to aid my every need; that is a huge ask.
Conclusion.
I'd be happy being lower power than people with a clan or group of friends.
I'm fine with not having every end game item.. it takes work and lots of play time.
I never have a problem with encouraging team/friend play; but it does feel like the game is not only discouraging solo play.. it's not even close to an option and that isn't a very fun option for someone without friends.
Hopefully something could be added for solo players (not joining a fireteam with guided games, I mean alternatives for solo players).

My Issues
- No "Solo" Option for anything
- Not everyone has friends who want to play the same game
Solution
- Make Solo play options
Thanks for reading. I enjoy the game and will still play either way.

Solution: Stop being an anti-social hermit and join a group off LFG what normal players have been doing since september 2014. you would think by now, you idiots would understand this. It’s not a solo game, so if you have trouble communicating with other humans play another game
-
Use the find fireteam section of the app, ran 5 raids in the last two weeks that way and have had some awesome experiences. Most of the people I play with the most I’ve met through off and the app.

Edited by Valigus: 1/10/2019 11:33:43 AMSolution join a discord lfg server I had the same problem then I joined a discord and now I have more opportunities then I know what to do with (only have 1 other friend who plays a decent amount) https://discord.gg/HTekH6y

Edited by Ferus Lux: 1/10/2019 12:53:04 AMWe just need more Dungeons and Dungeon exclusive rewards that we can farm. I loved Shattered Throne. It was the best Activity I ever played in all of Destiny's history because I could beat it at MY pace and on skill alone. No annoying human beings required.

9 RepliesThere's plenty of solo play options for you. You're over 600 on 1 character Which puts you at a level high enough for the forges which don't require you to find a fireteam. You can crucible, you can patrol, you can do gambit, you can do strikes, you can do blind well All of which drop end game gear

1 ReplyEdited by blade329: 1/8/2019 4:33:11 PM"Solo player? We don't serve your kind here. Get friends or get lost. If we built the game for solo play, we would have to rely on more content and story. That just doesn't go around here, bub." -- Bungie Bungie, like other big game companies, create games favoring multiplayer, because they can get away with creating less content. They know that anything with friends is fun and it takes little effort on their part. (See Fallout 76) I'm a 100% solo player. I've been that way since I started D1 back in 2015.

4 RepliesDa fuq? I play exclusively solo, and have since early D1. I also played UO, EQ, and WoW exclusively solo. The problem isn’t the game; it’s your attitude. You have to accept that there will be things you can’t do or get solo. But Destiny is pretty good on that front—the only thing you’re truly locked out of solo is raiding. The new strike designs make solo NF a bitch, but people still do it. So, in closing, quityerbitchin.

As a D1 solo player,I found that you cannot expect everything to be easy for you. Especially in games like Destiny as it is a multiplayer game, my best advice is to use an LFG site or a console equivalent for the tough activities like raids or obtaining whisper, it was the exact same in D1.

1 ReplyI find myself in the same situation. My RL friends aren't gamers at all, and so far in D2 I've been in 2 clans. The first was populated by toxic bullies and commanded by a man-child, all endlessly spouting racism and disability jokes (which could half be expected from some young teenagers, but these were all people in their late twenties/early thirties!) The second and current clan, is dead. It seems they added me and a few others, to try and bring life back to it, but everyone new left when they realised hardly anyone was ever on at the same time. So I've resigned myself to solo'ing and no raiding. It sucks, but it is what it is. Bungie seems to be pushing more and more at the co-op angle, which is a shame. I would like to see more solo options, but I don't think that is who they are catering too now. It's all about clinging on to the last remaining clans who post twitch and YT videos. As others have said, you could try searching google for raid groups, but to be honest it's a lot of time investment to do raids with randoms, so it's down to you if you have enough chair time. I don't sadly.
-
Well it is a MULTIPLAYER game, and you can do everything solo except those activities mentioned, you should get a clan or friends, or keep trying LFG it does work sometimes

1 Replyi have 2 characters at 650 and 1 at 646 and have been playing solo since. There are just some things i realized i would never get because of it and i accepted it. I have never done the liviathan or any raid really. I cannot get wishender because i can't solo that shit. Sorry i know ppl who say they have. was lucky and found someone on fireteam finder to help with malfeasance strike. that was cool But the problem with lFG and fireteam finder is that mostly when the majority of people have already done something that youre trying to do. a lot of them do not want to do it again . even if it's just to help another player out. they just don't want to do it again . for example in the 3rd week of the curse i have tried and tried to find some one to do wish ender strike with and guess what . no body ever wants to. every one who wanted it has it and no desire to do the dungeon again.

Edited by FatBabyDragon: 1/8/2019 4:40:49 PMI'm a solo player, I have lunas howl and whisper of the worm, and I have completed every raid except spire because -blam!- that shithole of a raid. Your argument is invalid.
-
1 ReplyAre you playing the same Destiny that all us other are? There are plenty of solo options. I know because I’m a solo player. I don’t raid because I don’t have the time and I’m not worried about it. I run strikes, gambit, and crucible using match making. Over 50 EP clears with randoms. All kinds of solo opportunities in the game.

2 Repliesthe100.io is good for that problem. You can find acceptable players to play with but you don't have to be their friends or clan mates. You play with them for that one time and then go your separate ways.

Edited by FataLVisioN_Oo: 1/8/2019 2:50:57 PMIf you are trying to raid join a raid clan. Boom profit. I solo everything besides raids... raids can be a bit tedious because as you said some ppl are lost... the upside of wiping for hours upon hours is you are literally mastering the encounter through failure... so eventually you can start a group of your own and breeze right through. My first raid clear of every raid usually takes 4-8 hours.... after that it'll cut itself down to about an hour or less. Especially since I can identify problem players and teach them... if they aren't willing to learn they inevitably get the boot. Sucks but that's just how raids are regardless.

13 RepliesThere are tons of solo experiences. The problem is when you do want to party up there isn't a simple LFG tool in game. These tools have been around for like 20 years now. Example: I should be able to flag up for LFG Crucible and put on my KD emblem so people looking to invite can see my 1.94 Efficiency and decide if they want to invite me. They just look at a nice list of people LFG and invite. Boom. So easy. No looking on forums, no searching for annoying gamertags. You play the game WHILE you LFG. It's 2019 Bungie.

2 RepliesSolo in a multiplayer focused game, makes total sense yeah 🙄

Edited by Zamasu: 1/8/2019 9:03:27 AM... did post about an invite to our clan, but you’re on pc. No worries. Good luck sir.

4 RepliesThis game is meant to be played by friends and groups.

I do almost everything solo man. There are opportunities
-
I don’t agree, this game has many solo opportunities, let’s talk about one you mentioned, whisper, while it many be difficult solo it’s more than doable, I got it solo on pc. Another that you didn’t mention was Luna’s, while it may be incredibly difficult as a solo it’s still doable, my point is, the game offers plenty of solo activities. However not everything should be solo able, the raids are meant to be an activity done with a team, to make them something that can be solo’d would take away from them. TLDR; there’s plenty of activities that can be solo’d but not everything in the game should be.
-
Playing solo means doing the things you can and really not caring about what you can't. Complaining about it on this forum will get the usual psychotic toxic attacks that weakness may deserve. I even know that.
-
2 RepliesEh while I agree with because solo match made in comp is horrible. Just go to lfg and or use the recruitment resources made by the community. One of the reasons I love destiny so much is because I've met so many ppl from lfg and or discord. Play talk and laugh with players. It's awesome experience. I love each and every one of you guys. Destiny is fun with others.
