No idea about the new raid, haven't bothered to try it.
The gradual ramp up of limited information distribution among the fireteam, individual cannot-fail tasks, and a [i]bizarre[/i] fascination with symbol-matching games and throwing orbs is what I find to be tedious and unfun. And as someone else said, finishing a raid encounter doesn't give a sense of triumph, just relief that it's over.
Finally, I think it's time for Bungie to really start looking for other ways to make encounters work besides "Do dance steps then DPS phase." The Vault in Last Wish, actually, is a really great encounter (and an exception to the general feel of that raid) because there's no boss, no DPS phases, and it's mobile and active. It's still got that weird fascination with symbols, but at least they make some sense in that context.
None of the D2 raids feel like the battles that the D1 raids were. It's hard to quantify, but they just feel...off.
