Something needs to be done with the first Forge mission

Either increase the timer or lower the enemies' power levels because this is ridiculous for an entry level mission

    Anytime Bungie puts timers on things, it never goes well... It’s like one of the gaming unwritten rules lol. Timers generally are not fun, at all. Ruined FFXIII. And they’re way overused in Destiny. I’d rather hard enemies with all types of crazy mini bosses and bosses that have to be conquered through skill at Fighting, than... a timer. Esp w stupid “restore time” mechanics. That didn’t even work in the Nightfall...

        • Totally agree. Last night I was excited to reach the forge then realised I had no chance. So had to go back to grinding Forsaken activities again, which i was bored of a few weeks ago. Pretty bad design if you ask me! Ha I g to okay old content again just to play new content.

          • People paid for new content and we’re excited to enjoy it yesterday. They won’t be able to for 2 weeks while they get crapped on by the top 10% of kids in gambit and crucible with legendary machine guns who have the time to grind primes all day to get it quicker. Not even skill. Just no job or family. I’m 610 after two days I’ll have it by Tuesday forsure. That’s a luxury I have. Doesn’t mean I don’t empathize with people who don’t have that time, who are just gunna get saltier and saltier getting crapped on by one guy with a wave splitter and legendary lmg. This is a potentially toxic situation with the very real potential to lose customers.

          • The horde mode can be completed if everyone is At least 606 preferably 608. It was already done with 2 608’s and a 601. Get your thunderlord for red bars, just to clear the space around the yellow, shotgun for yellow bar scions. Shotgun the machete yellow bar together. When the yellow bar legionaries come out, usually in groups of two, nuke them with a high damage super. Blade barrage, chaos reach etc. cycle orbs. Most importantly stay mobile. Staying in one spot will generally get you killed. If you’re going to camp when the boss spawns you should atleast have one well of radiance.

            • Overheard at Bungie staff meeting: “We promised a bunch of new content but we still can’t fix the old stuff.” “How should we handle it then?” “We should time hate it so players have to come back for 30 minutes each week. That should get our log in numbers up.” “Okay. Good idea. But will that be enough?” “Probably not.” “How about if we make the difficulty too hard to complete when they start so they have to go back and do a bunch of old stuff?” “That could work. They did ask for a grind didn’t they?” “What about our pet streamers?” “Those players? Nah. They don’t have anything else to do and will sing our praises any way.                 • why? because you can't defeat it immediately? play the game, enjoy the journey and when you get power level high enough to defeat it, you will. Why make is simpler just so you can beat it and then complain that there is nothing left to do.

                  I don’t think it’s unreasonable that players want the initial introduction to something new to be at a reasonable power level. When a game tells me a recommended level, that’s the MINIMUM I want to go into it at. I like to be prepared. That’s NOT unreasonable. The boss of the first forge sits at 635? Is that even currently obtainable? With weekly caps, I haven’t done the math but I don’t think it is. Even if one has the luckiest of RNG drops. They had to have known people would respond like this to it. This is a very good example of how NOT to implement new content. I hope the backlash is negative enough that they change things. Not holding my breath though. This makes me want to step away from the game for a bit because I have no desire to spend AT LEAST two more weeks doing the same thing I just did for the last several months to be appropriately prepared play content that I was excitedly waiting to play that became “available” today.

                    I'm only 580 light and was expecting the first forge to be challenging, not neigh impossible without being 600 light. Forget activating the forge for the first time, I can't even get past the first -blam!-ing wave. Honestly, power levels should be more like this: Volundr Forge Ignition mission - 570 First Forge - 590 Second Forge - 610 Third Forge - 630 Raid - 650 I get that these forges are meant to be end game content like EP (which doesn't even drop Y2 versions of gear) and BW (which drops 2 parts of -blam!- all). But at least you could do them without needing to be the highest power level possible. Now, as 580, I can kill things, it's not a fast but thanks to that ever lovely timer it's hard considering that you only get 1 sec for throwing a ball in the forge. If you do a staggered release, the increase in power/difficulty should also be staggered as each bit of content becomes available. It's not fun, I'm locked out of content I paid for until I can grind up to at least 600 light, however many weeks that may take

                    • I like how all the asshat people who do nothing but play this game keep talking shit to people asking for something reasonable. The first forge should of been an intro forge to get you to atleast to 615 - 620 by farming it. Then you move onto the other forges which are harder and harder. The initial cap for this forge should of started at recommended 605 and final boss 615-620. Making everyone suffer through old garbage content, that weve all played a thousand times is ridiculous. Honestly I would even deal with it staying as is since its a challenge at 600 if the timer went up. Theres a ton more stuff coming out during the next few weeks it beyond me why they would -blam!- an entire community waiting to play this like they did lol.

                        • Terrible launch. Basically, the same level experience could be achieved by doing nothing more than raising the light cap. Even Osiris and Warmind (as sad as those were) had a campaign and new activities besides just escalation protocol. So far, Black Armory is equivalent to releasing the Warmind DLC with no new content except escalations. How is that even a new DLC launch? Just about done with the franchise at this point.

                          • It’s not like Bungie has multiple games to work on like most developers. They have one, so why do they continue to disregard what their customers want in a game? I understand not everyone can be happy but it seems like the majority of the community can agree that this update is not what they expected. All they had to do was make the new content playable so we can download the update and jump right into new quests missions or what ever. Now we have to grind old content to play the new forge. I don’t get how they can have a decent sized company and no one thought the community would be upset they had to grind old content to try the new?

                          • They used the match making system to prevent people from rigging it to get extra players in. Now they force you to play with only 3 people because they knew people would rig it to get in six or 9... All they had to do was have a six person matchmaking system. You know a lot of people were taking a wait and see approach to see if black armory would be just more of the same trash. I think we're about to see another major die of if people can't complete content they paid for.

                                  Yeah, I assumed it would be an "intro" mission as part of the story - typical of Bungie - to give you the taste of the thing and a basic reward for venturing in (you know, a machine gun - not that big a deal, nice to have but not necessary, etc). I was surprised to find that the story had already basically ended with "We hate Guardians but you're cool I guess, I'm [i]so[/i] conflicted!" ::pressed hand to forehead:: and it was back to doing the weekly/daily milestones like nothing much had changed.
