Some afk at worst but for most it goes like this. Lose the first round? Well we better lose the second too because I'm not playing 3 rounds when I need 40 matches. So we throw the game... Bad foresight on this one Bungo. Hell I might just go for pure kills and never pick up a mote or worry about the bosses and once I'm done all the auto shit I will be able to have a dance party for the remaining 10-20 matches.

This is Bungie way of keeping players invested in a game mode 90% would ignore otherwise.
-
34 RepliesAfter grinding 40 matches and ignoring my wife she nearly became the primeval.
-
2 RepliesYou better watch out what threads you make here. Bungie might get the idea from your post that it would be better to turn the condition into "40 wins in Gambit". Nobody wants that.
-
Edited by Tazzenkaff: 12/4/2018 7:27:37 PMI despise gambit, so I'll be grinding through this quest over the next couple of days to get it over with. I have no desire to spread my suffering out over an entire season.
-
2 RepliesI’m sure they knew what would happen, butt Bungie needs hours logged in to show the executives. The player experience comes second .
-
2 RepliesI can attest to this. My last 4 matches I idled. 40 was way too much. Dont blame the players, blame bungies out of touch devs.
-
If players are playing for loot not enjoyment or both you will have this happening. Good thing it'd a team game and I play with a team because playing with randoms in Gambit/Crucible is absolutely terrible.
-
They should have made it so that winning matches counts more towards the goal, like winning gives you two instead of one, but losing still gives a point

92 RepliesEdited by Wicked: 12/4/2018 4:59:59 AMYour problem is the same problem people had with the material grind for the exotic swords in D1: YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO SIT AND GRIND OUT 40 MATCHES IN A ROW The idea is to play and complete the objective over time. It's the same problem players had with the materials for the exotic swords in D1. Instead of playing the game and getting the materials over time as you play, people just farmed planetary materials for hours and hours until they got what was needed. That wasn't, and isn't, the intent. During the course of D2 year 1 how many games of Crucible did we all play? Dozens? Hundreds? Don't sit and grind out 40 matches in a row like an idiot. Play a few a day and work toward the objective slowly. That way you don't get burnt out. "But W1cked, I want the pinnacle weapons now!" Well then suffer and grind. Otherwise stop whining.

Screw gambit....I think it sucks.
-
1 Replyweird, I played 35/40 of my matches and didn't throw or afk?
-
Plus side - I finally got meatball! \o/

1 ReplyI finally have an excuse to work on getting kills as an invader while holding 15 motes!
Yay!
5 RepliesThat's more a reflection on you than anything else. I dont ever take a knee.

Absolutely. Nobody but streamers want to endlessly grind repetitive shit. Everybody else is gonna tank if you lose the first one. I was three matches away from being done got to the second match and didn’t try to win and just sat on my super until the other team had a sliver on their primeval. Then I popped it just cause. But worse the other team stopped burning their primevil with jist a sliver of health left. So I’m sitting their throwing my hammers at everything except our primevil cause the last thing I want to do is make the match tied and have to play a third round. When the other team finally killed their primevil then I threw a last token hammer at our boss when it was too late. I even got a hate message saying “throw the hammer at the boss” or something to that effect. just refused to throw my hammers at the boss. If they give people tedious tasks instead of inherently fun things to do people will try to avoid them. That should fundamentally tell you there is an underlying problem with your task.

u really think people are gonna play 3 rounds of Gambit for 40 games in a row, not including all the times you'll get Baboomed or Weaseled i always try to win the 1st round, if we lose it then i just collect as many Motes as possible on the 2nd and simply jump off the edge over and over and over till the game is over and b4 u know it The Drifter will give you a Breakneck
-
I managed to obtain Breakneck in 3 days without any AFK'ing. Last night, I was paired with two "guardians" who never left the base. Bungie should update the Breakneck quest to require 20 wins instead of 40 AFK-sessions.

22 RepliesI'm still trying to get a 4 kill invade for malfeasance. 😒 Then I'm out.

2 RepliesOff topic: I need gambit level 12 or something to unlock the Bygones...how do I check my current level?
-
You better throw the second round if you loose. Grinding this crap was ridiculously boring
-
I ran into this one match (I've only played about 8). We lost the first round, and then I couldn't understand what everyone was doing just running around killing stuff the second round. Duh, now I get it. This was poorly conceived and or executed.
-
I havent played Gambit since the introduced the quit penalization a few weeks ago. Mostly because I dont enjoy as a solo player being paired up against 4 men stack teams. Now I cannot wait to be paired up against 4 men stacks so I can get over with the quest and never have to come back to gambit again.
-
4 RepliesYea but they'd be doing that even if it was only 20 matches. At a certain point it's on the players ourselves to not be complete shitbags about this stuff. Idk what Bungie could possibly do to make people not play like that.
-
3 RepliesIt took me 2 days of solid grind to complete, if some players don't want to do that then we are better off getting rid of them than complaining at Bungie.
-
I actually really enjoy gambit normally, but there's weird blimps of enjoyment. Whenever there is a quest in the gambit, the quality of matches seem to drop until everyone has it, then it goes back to a enjoyable (mostly, looking at you 4 stacks that queue to get randos).
-
4 RepliesThey shouldve required gambit wins instead of matches complete.
