2 weeks after D2 launched I quit because the game was not fun. Having played D1 for years, my expectations for a sequel were not met... On Black Friday I bought a new PS4, D2 and all of its expansions.
First thing - The game is now 'fun'. Though I've only seen a small portion of it since my return, the game feels light years better than it did when I stepped away. My guardian is faster and more powerful, the game is not being spoon fed to me and there appears to be lots to learn and earn. Well done Bungie, as I was not expecting this type of turn around. I flamed you hard for D2s shortcomings at launch and now you have earned this guardians' praise.
I look forward to logging in each day and seeking out new challenges, PVE and PVP. I do hope that competitive elimination is brought back in some capacity but my gripes are few and far between otherwise. End game content awaits.
Edit:
If someone is able to assist me in finding my old posts from 2017 October, it will be very easy to verify my past sentiments towards D2 and why I quit.
This was my account for D2 in Sept 2017:
https://www.bungie.net/en/Gear/2/4611686018465793629/2305843009263916650
As mentioned I repurchased D2 and the forsaken expansion etc on Black Friday 2018 as it was on sale as was the PS plus 12 months. Along with the additional 20% code that came with my new PS4, it was a good price.

9 RepliesEdited by SkunkApeDahSWAMP: 11/30/2018 2:05:40 AMDude, the game still sucks. Yes, it’s better than it was when it launched, but it’s still a boring and repetitive pile of crap. You can’t customize your Guardian in any unique or meaningful way, and Bungie is incapable of getting out of their own way and just letting players have fun. Instead of making fresh and enjoyable content they spend all their time on making these asinine and convoluted progression systems. They have zero faith in their players sticking around because the game is fun and instead force their players to spend a ridiculous amount of time doing insanely boring crap just to progress and customize your Guardian. Bungie isn’t worthy of praise. By the way, even Activision agrees that Bungie has screwed the pooch and now to make up for all the lost sales all the badass looking gear is only going to be found on Eververse. How can you enjoy this blatantly obvious cash grab, festering turd.

3 RepliesEdited by Ken_Malibu: 11/30/2018 7:43:50 AMThen you realise it's just an artificial grind and running any activity 500+ times makes it not fun and feel like a laborious chore.

20 RepliesIt's an unrewarding grind fest.

1 Replynot being spood feed ? try collecting exotics and say that

8 RepliesI get what people are saying about the grind and crap exotic drops after nerf but really? People whined the game was too easy early on with nothing to do, and that exotics dropped too much and too easily, and now people are crying about grinding? Far, faaaarrr too many gamers these days are nothing but whiny little b*tches. If the guns were too easy to get no one would want them, and then they'd complain everyone has one and is abusing it. Nerf! Nerf this, nerf that, too easy, too grindy... Too whiny. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. 😭😜

10 RepliesCan't wait to see all you fanboys rage when d3 is just as empty and shallow as d1, and d2 was. They know they can bait their fan base via marketing and the proverbial "carrot on the stick" type Upgrade/DLC strategy.

Cool Story Bro

Very similar story here. I played the trial and was disappointed with the game. Over then next few months I watched my friend dropping loads of d1 exotics and my disappointment turned to disgust. I returned when d2 with CoO and warmind were on sale for £21 and was pleasantly surprised the feel of d1 was back. It’s a sad story that the game has become fun again because they’ve basically reverted it back to d1 🤷♂️

3 RepliesI am glad that you have regained interest in this game, but stay away from the forums, as the majority of people here already think you're a Bungie employee.

6 RepliesWhat’s with people saying posts are fake lately? It’s becoming a trend on these forums. Has this community gotten so toxic that one can’t possibly say something positive?

I left at Halloween because it just got very repetitive yet again. I was logging in just in the hopes of finally getting a forsaken exotic but realised that they are not worth chasing anyway. Glad you are enjoying it again - I look forward to your next post “ ok I’m leaving again because it’s got repetitive and isn’t fun anymore” :)

I stopped reading after "fun".
-
I just wish that all of that content was in one game

15 RepliesForsaken feels great at first, but after few weeks this shit burn you out. This is probably my game over with Bungie games. Loved D1, hate D2 y1, loved Forsaken at first but after all it totally killed my interest in this franchise.

6 RepliesAnother Bungie PR post lol...but i guess it's fine when i say it again that it's getting old. In a game where everything is recycled and repetitive i guess i'm free to say it another 1000 times lol

4 RepliesOk deej

Every comeback comment ever. And then it goes on for a few weeks and we're back to seeing it for what it is. Arbitrary barriers in a game that lacks content.
-
5 RepliesThe problem is that the game hasnt changed at all from the start , the same things recicle in a steady formula. I stopped playing it recently, cant see a the light at the end of the tunnel anymore. What a shame, bungie falls in the same traps over and over. Dissapointment ,burned out , lost faith in general, give it a name. Cheers.

I agree. Took a lonnng break and came back for forsaken. Not disappointed. Infact, really enjoying Destiny again. Crucible needs work though. It's no where near as fun as D1 Crucible.
-
The game if fun just needs tweaks like less heavy spawns in pvp and shift tolrsto to heavy

3 RepliesWow, you mean to say after not enjoying yourself, you bought all the expansions? Fake post is fake. Something tells me Activision is reading your forums this week, because this is like the 5th, very clearly fake, post
