Is warlock shit?

New player here. A friend told me warlock is the worst class for any endgame activities, he said Titan has the best DPS and Hunter got the strongest utility/support, the only place warlock works is pvp, is this true? Should I reroll before I invest too much time, thanks!

  • Warlocks can cheese Atheon, so no. It’s the only class that will quickly get you level 30 gear. Your friend should check their facts.

  • Definitely DON’T choose warlock for PvP lol Trust me I am a warlock main & bungie failed hard with them. Slow melee, little rift impact, terrible exotics, sluggish jump, etc. Hunters have by far the best exotics, best jump & best ability for PvP (in fact, their ability is shit for PvE, but their exotics more than make up for it) Titans just have shoulder charge & bubble in terms of PvP, so they’re your 2nd choice. Their exotics are a little better than warlocks’, but still trash compared to hunters, who have celestial nighthawk (huge DPS boost), Orpheus rigs (regens super for you & your teammates), foetracer (does extra damage to enemies with health lower than 1/3rd & tracks them), knucklehead radar (radar persists with ALL weapons while aiming, Hunter exclusive perk of course), Gemini jesters (temporarily removes enemy radar (former meta)), etc. Unfortunately, the game is awfully imbalanced, & bungie will never do a damn thing to fix it.

  • "Is warlock the shit?" Fixed that question. As a hunter main, the answer is yes. Warlocks are great.

Warlocks are the strongest PVE characters in the game. Strong support Good Offensive supers and ad clear Titans and hunters are not as good as them. Your buddy seems to be a titan fanboy. In a hunter main and I would be the first to say warlocks are the best pve wise. But a class strength should not eliminate other classes from the question. A hunter can easily be as viable as a warlock in pve and can out play a warlock in pvp

  • I don’t think so, they’re definitely the most interesting class. I always see them doing well, Crucible and PvE. I’m a Titan main, but I occasionally run the Lock. My only complaint is that it seems you cannot get high resilience on the Lock, no doubt it’s by design, but I do not care for it. I can say stay away from the Hunter, they’re everywhere, gets boring with jumping all over the place and running off.

  • It is really up to the player and their play style. I have seen players who use the warlock and are unstopable in PvP and PvE and others who drop every couple of min. The only person who can say if the warlock is any good for you is...….. YOU. Destiny has 3 save slots for a reason and that is to have one of each class. Try each then you decide what will be your main.

  • Warlocks have the best neutral game (grenades, melee, basic power boosts) of all the classes. Nova warp and dawnblade are two of the best supers in pvp. Well of radiance and the hand laser are basically the two best supers in pve. Exotics range from beyond worthless to amazing, looking at lunafaction mostly, but other super specific ones especially, are goddamn strong.

  • All classes have a lot of value. If your friend thinks warlocks are the worst, he probably just doesn't know how to "be a warlock" right. But to the larger question, to play warlock, titan or hunter effectively, you really have to shift the paradigm between them. Each has abilities that lead you to playing a different style. If you only plan to play one class, then the thing to consider is... what matches your play style? As a new guardian, the only way you could really know that is maybe watching Youtube videos of both PVE and PVP, focusing on what each class has to offer.

  • I've only played Warlock since D1, so I am biased but Warlock like all classes have their role. My only complaint is the Warlock jump abilities are lack luster and none of the exotics currently augment the ability. We do have blink which is awesome in PvP once you master it, but that's a very high skill ability in PvP. Watching a master use it in the crucible is pretty amazing

  • Youre friend is a moron. Im a titan main but warlocks are crazy strong now. Void lock is probably the best pvp class in the game. Well of radiance with lunafaction is REQUIRED for the raid. And chaos reach with geomags rivals if not beats blade barrage in single target damage

  • It sounds harsh but your friend is either a liar or incompetent. The new void super is very effective in pvp. The new solar super is very effective in raid and gambit strategies. I’ve seen more specific raid/gambit requests for radiance well warlocks with lunafication boots. In gambit I’ve seen Titan with “melting point” or hunters with BB. The new arc is good for dps but it was bugged but supposedly fixed as it’s perk was you could save some super by deactivating it but I haven’t used it since the patch.

  • That is stupid. My Warlock with Geomag can melt a primeval's health from 75% down to 0% and earn my team the VICTORY ROYALE.

    • Honest opinion. Don't listen to anyone about which class is best. Google the class abilities, watch a YouTube video or two and make a decision based on what you like.

    • Pvp wise it currently possesses a vary strong super that is difficult to stop with tractor cannon, sentinal shield or blade barrage. (Although arc striders have been a decent counter as of late) Pve wise, it possess probably the best, if not second best support super which basically ensures your team is both unkillable except for wipe mechanics while adding intense amounts of dps. Which also stacks with their melee buff. Overall, despite the complaints of the unbalanced nova warp, all the classes are in a pretty damn good spot. Every class has a few "op" aspects to them which makes it so you can run a variety without feeling forced to change. Hunters have their mobility, pretty balanced supers, dodge, a high close range dps super, a stunning super great for stopping boss melees, and a long range super. Titans have a powerful one shot melee, an amazing support super, great exotics that really boost the builds possible. Warlocks have a powerful one shot grenade, a strong pvp super, a very powerful support super as well as overall support abilities such as throwing healing grenades and rift buffs.

The Warlock is a great mix of support and offense the only debatably bad thing about Warlock is their Glide although with practice it doesn't become an issue. EDIT: Warlocks are also essential for some raid tactics such as EP Shotgun strat of Morgeth or One phasing Riven. So yes you should play them as they are alot of fun plus who doesn't want to be a gun totting space wizard.

      • Your friend is wrong. Hunter, Warlock and Titan are all good and are all fun to play. They all have strengths and weaknesses. Stick with your Warlock for now and embrace the way of the Voidwalker.
