CASUAL GAMERS DESERVE YOUR RESPECT HERES WHY

so lately i've had conversations on how bungie turned its back on casual gamers for the lucky few that can play daily. so rather than go in to that i thought i would try to sway people supporting this way of thinking by telling you what destiny actually means to us and the challenges we face. first off the stereotypical thought of a casual gamer is someone who either comes and go's or only puts in a certain amount of hours a week/month, etc. and we are judged harshly for this. while a small percentage does fit this come and go, most of us who only put a certain amount of time in for whatever reason actually really like the game. yes it has problems but we are passionate about what we do in the game, and why we play. for destiny 2 i really knuckled down from launch, i really wanted to enjoy my experience. when forsaken was announced i went to the next level. at launch i got rid of all my weapons and Armour, even exotics and only used anything with the forsaken symbol on it, or any exotic i hadn't gotten yet. my first exotic was the sword from WM. even when i got fighting lion for haunted Forrest as soon as i got the achievement done i infused it. thats how passionate this "casual" is we face challenges in the real world too, first off my situation is this i work away for 2 weeks and get 1 week off, so technically i can only play 1 week a month. i'm extremely lucky that 80% of the time i can put good hours in. but there are times when im on boyfriend duty with the girlfriend, or have family commitments etc. but there are those that may not even have that luxury, some may only have a few hours a week. but they are no less passionate about the game than someone who is lucky enough to be able to play daily for hours on end. i have said this before but for me a hardcore gamer is someone who only has 2/3 hours to play in a week/month and chooses this game over all the others out there. does that not qualify as someone who is a destiny fan. and does that person who chooses to provide for his family or whatever his situation is get to be recognized by the company he is supporting. many people out there many situations, all money the same yet all put under the same banner and dis guarded by most as someone who doesn't deserve to be there. or there stats aren't up to scratch, etc destiny is big enough for both types of players to have quests, and be recognized by all. just because you play more doesn't always mean you have half the passion some of us "casuals" have. so try to have a different view on people playing, and lets make destiny for all types. a large player base means a healthy destiny

  • Don't worry, Activision isn't happy about this new cater to "hardcore " bullshit. It has already effected the game profits, which means they need to seriously re think the strategy.

  • Imo there needs to be a middle ground. Year 1 d2 wasn't grindy enough. Year 2 is too grindy in some aspects. I'm working on the broadsword quest. I'm almost done with it. I understand the reason why it's a lengthy quest. But I still think it's a bs quest. The length isn't the problem. It's the fact that you got to get it done in 1 season that I don't like. I started a new schedule at work which only gives me an hour to grind pvp a day. I do have weekends off but I really don't like playing pvp all weekend. But according to the quest I got to grind. Now if it was just 5 resets regardless of seasons then I'd take my time. Hell I probably wouldn't even be as close to finishing it as I am now. Yeah in a way it's a good thing that I'm almost done with it but as much time I put into this quest I'm not going to grind like this again. Like I said it's because it's long doesn't mean it's bad. I just think having to get 5 resets in a single season is too much. Having little to no grind sucks. But having to grind to the point where you have to make the game a second job is too much. Feel free to disagree with me all you want. But grinding should be fun and exciting. And you should be rewarded along the way as you keep on grinding. Once it starts feeling like a chore then there's something wrong with it.

  • Causal players are the reason D2 was shit for the first year they tried to hard to appeal to that audience, and all the old players and hardcore fans left, it was easy and pointed for people who cant play much. Thats why the destiny francise got -blam!-ed hard. Now that forsaken is here me and many other older fans have comeback and although destiny 2 forsaken didnt meet Activisions quota for sales, it was the highest selling video game content for the month, higher than the new spiderman game that came out. Destiny is not a game for people who can play only a few short hours aweeks. Hell some of the end game content might take a few hours on your first run through. If you can put in the time to play, then the game is not for you, either way theres lots of better games out there that dont require that amount of time, if your looking for a good fps game id suggest rainbow 6 or battlefield. But theres lots of games where if you cant put in the time you may as well not play. Ark survival evolved is one of those games, and destiny is too.

    • You've played 550 hours, hardly casual. However you have done very little end game, 0 raids etc etc blah blah If gamers don't utilize the end game then as per D2 vanilla non will be provided, that's basically the end of the game in very short order as we have seen. Casuals ruin a game like destiny by requiring what the long term players are prepared to put the time in for on a minimum effort minimum time basis. If you want to play casual then fine but your rewards should be casual. If you want to be casual then fine but don't expect the end game items. Game needs both casual and long term, though in my opinion neither of them require my respect. Games are for fun, respect comes from severing your community, country or your fellow man. If your asking if long term gamers should be happy to have casuals along then the answer is yes, casuals fund my long term habit.

Then congratulations, you get to stretch out the new content for longer than others. People "hate" casuals because Bungie hollowed out the game to appeal to them. And what happened? They jumped ship after and never looked back.

        • The thing is, casual gamers arnt the ones primarly coming on the forums and giving feed back. There also not the ones who are going to be coming back expansion after expansion, or play most of the end game content
