The “Shotgun” Meta
Lmao it’s only been a day and I see shotties everywhere. I’m not going to say I didn’t see this coming but I did, and I’m enjoying it infinitely more than all the camping and teamshotting. I’ve seen people complaining about it left and right, but they don’t realize you can outplay mindless rushers relatively easily. Like move your feet and backpedal, don’t stand too close to corners of you see people approaching. All this being said you’re still going to get killed by shotties occasionally but that’s just the nature of the game so don’t get so upset about it.

1 ReplyAvoid tight corners (there aren't many in d2 maps anyway). Backpedal if you suspect a shotgun (people don't use shotguns often so you usually don't need to worry). Don't push rashly. In fact, just don't move around the map at all because capturing points doesn't help you win games anyway. Move into the centre of a field and wait patiently while making a cup of tea until other team off themselves. Or be unique and put on a shotgun :p

1 ReplyI feel that this meta is a lot more manageable than graviton lance meta, but I also feel that a slight bit of balancing needs to happen. Not nerfing. Buff other weapons, or even change other aspects of certain shotgun archetypes. If people can go an entire crucible match only using a shotgun, in my opinion some balancing is needed

1 ReplyChange your play style...change the world. Shotguns have always been 1hitters in every pvp game. They changed crucible, so if you don't evolve with it, you don't have much to complain about....they told you what was changing.

This current meta is really just a reflex game, but hyper aggressive players aren't helping much either with their teleport shotguns

3 RepliesWhat wait.... Yep this is what the players have been asking for from before D2 was released and the beta when we found out shotguns and snipers were moving to the heavy slot. You are just going to have to learn how to deal with them in the crucible. You know the basics like increase range between you and the other player and go wide around corners as if there was a player with a sword hiding behind every blind spot. Adapt...… Improvise...… Overcome.

2 Replies4v4 is going to be different next week. Shotty will be there but only really skilled rushers and teams will use it right. I'm sure the new weapons and random rolls will change the way we all play very soon.

1 ReplyOn the PC side it's the connections being so bad that you're getting killed from ranges were shotguns shouldn't be able to damage you. Players are being killed behind walls which isn't ok in any world unless you're burning out. I think people are frustrated at the huge inconsistency with shotgun performance too, like I've had some questionable kills were I thought I'd only damage them a little but instead they just die, then there's other times were I'm point black and my shotgun goes off and nothing happens because of the peer to peer connections. Rushers are easy to deal with, it's just when half the players are teleporting around that it becomes unplayable.

5 RepliesAs of right now, yes shotties are incredibly potent. But comes September 4th and with the arrival of new weapons and random rolls, we might see a small shift in the current meta.

3 RepliesFine with it, however it seems to be quite common to see guys running shotguns, get 2 OHK’s, then respawn and do it again, wouldn’t mind a d1 system where you spawn with it your 1st life, then a crate drop every 30 seconds or so. That would also put a emphasis on using primary’s, which will say, the primary meta is awesome, lots of legendarys, not a lot of g-lance and V-wing.
