Redrix now out of reach for most people

I have mine. I spent ridiculous amount of time grinding for it because i'm a mid-tier player but I was determined. There were days I would end the day well over 100 to 150 points down from where I started. There were days I got on steaks and gained 200+. Now I haven't won a game since the update. It took me months of competitive to finally earn mine. I'll be back down a level soon, and any hopes I had of the shotgun, ornament, or emblem are gone. The old system allowed someone willing to work hard and put in the time to eventually advance. Now it might as well be Trials. There's a barrier in place made up of the top % of players that will never allow me to advance. So I'm relegated to Quick Play. But, 6 v 6 is garbage with the map size. Getting shot from multiple players from multiple angles every 5 to 10 seconds just isn't fun. Thanks Bungie for taking the part of your game I enjoyed most and making it terrible. People will say I'm just not good enough and don't deserve the rewards, I've been reading the forums . And to some extent they're right. I'm not that good. But does that mean that perseverance should go without reward? I've put in a ridiculous amount of time into this game, and now the rewards I was driving for seem completely out of reach I know a good portion of you will say "get better" and "stop whining". Don't bother. I have gotten better but I'll never be that top tier. I'm okay with that, as many people that play for fun are. I just think it's poor form of Bungie to continue to cater to the elite and drive the average player away.

  • For those replying on this thread stating that only Top Tier players should be able to attain weapons such as the claymore, well you couldn't be more wrong. In a well designed game all players should be able to achieve all goals with top tier/elite players likely able to achieve those goals faster than average players. Average players who persevere and who put the time in should expect to be able to attain these rewards. Before the update this was possible in competitive(and actually fun when you got going) but post the update average players or solo queuing players can expect nothing but to be stomped time and time again by a matchmaking system that favours elite stacked teams. This is not meant to be trials! If average players(majority of the player base) are locked out of the majority of the high level rewards then they will eventually stop playing the game and the game will be left with an extremely low player base or die.

    • people need to git gud and stop crying. I'm a mid tier player and i grinded it out to about 3k glory then got bored. I hope most people don't get it because all they do is want hand outs and cry if they don't get them.

      • I tried a match yesterday to see if things evened out any. 4 stack of 1.6+ kd vs a 2 stack and 2 solo, all ~1.0 kd. Absolutely nothing is competitive about that on either side!

        • There's also a decision bungie has to make though too that people never care to consider. How can they reward players for their time while still trying to make rewards exclusive to a certain activity? I get that people don't like the idea of exclusive gear, but if that didn't exist why would people even bother in the first place? The game is already catering so unbelievably hard to the casual player base in terms of rewards (not in terms of quantity but in terms of the reward per effort ratio) that any piece of gear, no matter how insignificant, feels even more insignificant because of how easy it is to get. Take the Destiny 1 raids for example. They had rewards exclusive to hard mode that pushed really dedicated players like myself to complete that activity. I wanted x gun so much I went through an experience most players would never get by playing the normal game. Hardships and the pain is only that much better when you feel rewarded for doing it. Now If we look at Destiny 2, the prestige modes have next to nobody doing them because there aren't rewards only hardcore players can chase. Every single worthwhile piece of gear can be earned from the normal raid at a much more comfortable rate than in comparison to prestige mode. So now is there not only no drive to do prestige mode, the ease of gear drops makes nobody have ANY desire to do them except for a small select few. Something that urged me into doing something with my friends we never though we would accomplish no longer rewards us in that satisfying way. If bungie just creates weapons that drop for everybody, what does that leave for the specific game modes besides them just having the option to do it? I have no drive to play competitive because the gear doesn't benefit me in a way that it matters so I don't participate in that activity. It also doesnt help that there's no necessity to correspond with those rewards. No way to steadily increase my power level, no interesting rewards, and no reason to play it. This same exact problem is what nightfalls are going through right now. There's no necessity or path that the nightfalls themselves have to give you a reason to do them. I grinded for dfa and duty bound, but now I no longer have any reason to do it. I remember doing the nightfall daily because it was a crucial step to quickly raise my light so I could tackle the raid to get those exclusive rewards. Now I own almost literally every single weapon in the game because I casually play it here and there. There's no drive for me to come back and play anything because of that. Activities in loot shooters NEED exclusive rewards otherwise the player base loses all reason to do them. Playing for fun is one thing, but games, at least to me, aren't fun when my time feels wasted when all's it does is speed up the process of something I can do just by playing here and there. You never want to remove the drive to complete activities otherwise you have exactly what Destiny 2 is, a hand-holdy participation reward that never can fulfill the player based off of rewards that everybody can get. Call it elitism all you want, but the very foundation of what everyone claims is a better game, is built off of that very selfish ideology. Destiny 1 is anything but A participation medal and it truly makes you feel accomplished to complete activities casual players won't do. It's that same ideology that random rolls is built off of. You WANT to be exclusive.

          • I'm finished with comp. for now. Constant losing streaks. Constantly matched against teams way better than the 4 random they face. I can spend a whole days gameplay in comp. and come out worse than I went in. Not worth it.

          • I disagree, I think this is a step in the right direction for a couple reasons. One of them is that this is a competitive play list, so you should be matching against people your rank. Overwatch has a similar system, albeit it is more organized, but that's beside the point. My other reason is that hardcore players need something to grind for. If everyone is handed weapons very easily, then the grind is almost nonexistent. This was a major issue at the launch of D2 as a player could play for 2 weeks and complete everything the game had to offer. I say Bungie needs to cater to the hardcore players more often as it gives people something to chase after. Not everyone should be handed good weapons, it some things need to be difficult in order for them to feel rewarding for those who get said weapons/armor.

              God forbid that in a game with MMO aspects, that people who are better than others and are able to beat elite activities are able to obtain rewards that casual players can't. Look at vanilla Destiny 2, everyone got a trophy and the game was boring. Now they add something that only dedicated and hardcore players can get, and people start crying... For there to be winners, there has to be losers.

                • There are 2 sides to this coin and once again this shows what some of the "competitive" crowd really want. In D1 they wanted SBMM removed because it was "too sweaty" playing people their own skill level and much more fun to pub stomp lesser skilled players. Of course that completely ignored that the lesser skilled players didn't enjoy getting pub-stomped all day long. Now with D2 players wanted ranked play which is now here, but players didn't like constantly facing high ranked players and getting pub-stomped all day long. So Bungie did what they should have, switched to where people play opponents their own rank. And suddenly "competitive" isn't fun because it's [i]too competitive[/i]. This change is actually going to allow more people a chance at Redrix, not less and this change is not Bungie "catering to the top players" by making them have to play each other and not roll low ranks all day. If your rank is dropping it's because you're not playing well enough. Asking to be able to play low ranked players to pad your rank isn't you looking out for the everyday player, it's you asking to be catered to so you can feel elite.

                      • Agreed. 4v4 on smaller maps was absolutely more competitive and balanced. I live for the 1v1 gun battles and encounters, out shooting and strafing someone is the most simple yet gratifying feeling. When it turns into a 1v2 situation, it only gets more creative. These situations occurred countless times a match before, only to be replaced by being shot from every angle of the map since the over crowded move to 6v6. It forces you to play less aggressive and fall back far more, which simply isn’t fun for decent players. Bad kids cried about being team shotted, wait until they’re TS’d by a party of 6. I respect if people want that quick bit of chaos, we’re all here for different levels of satisfaction, but make it an additional playlist not a replacement for a base game that worked.

                          • Welcome to online gaming. All mmo's develop a "1%" class. They begin dominating all the best activities. They will then sell "runs"/cheat/hack to a point that normal players cannot complete. The developers NEVER care. They say they do. But they never do anything about it. I'm a computer game veteran. Im an excellent crucible player as well. (2.6kd that includes making up for my early days when i stunk!) I won't do Trials or Redrix grinding. Those activities are "tainted" in my opinion. Recovering and "carrying" are sad. I really wish "carrying" was a ban-able offense. Bungie doesn't seem to care. Every society, even a gaming universe society always becomes slanted! There will always be a 1% tier that does whatever they want free of serious consequences while devs look the other way as long as their game is generating money! That's just mmo life...

                              • Lol, the jokes on the people that put in the time. The gun isnt very good and will likely stay that way because of the uproar it would cause if it were good and controlling pvp.

                              • I get where you are coming from and I actually agree to a certain point and idk if it’s because I come from D1 or what (and idk if you come from it as well or not) but in my opinion I hated to 4v4 system to much team shooting took me away from crucible but now with 6v6 I find it fun again the small maps make it eventful instead of constant sniping or thorn and last word spammy but at time it is annoying bc of the god damn spawn locations I think that if they work on that a little bit more it would b better
