Why do you think this game is failing?
Personally, I think it’s because they tried to cater to new players, they went for a reboot, Bungie is money hungry, and they aren’t listening to their player base. Compared to Warframe (Which is Free) this game is awful... What happened?
Why is this game failing?
It's easier to wow a few hundred people on the inside with new game mechanics and loot systems than it is to impress hundreds of thousands of Destiny players who think they know best.

2 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 7/16/2018 1:11:29 AMIt’s not. You’re about three months late making that claim. And having played Warframe, it’s not as good a game as its fanboys want to claim. Why did this game stumble? Simple. Bungie put their own wishes and goals for the game ahead of those of their customers. Because of one part arrogance on their part and one part ignorance. . They let their success with Halo go to their heads, and failed to realize that that experience doesn’t apply to loot based games, and that they (they people in charge of D2s development) didn’t really understand the appeal of their own game, and why the vast majority of their player base play the game. So instead of leaning INTO the game’s identity as a loot-based game like they did in Y2-3 of D1... and now it seems in Y2 of D2. They stripped out almost all the RPG elements out of the game... handed the community an over-designed campaign shooter.... ....and then looked shocked when the community didn’t like it. It’s like ordering a steak dinner, and the waiter brings you broiled trout, because that’s what the chef wanted to cook. Bad plan.

It’s not.

They changed too many things, mostly for the worse, and also watered down the game to make it appeal to the ultra casuals.

Edited by Alvin Thwait: 7/17/2018 7:46:45 AMThe end game is just pointless. There is no weapon in the raid that is "must have". Even the Legend of Acrius is vault fodder. You can take any tracking rocket launcher from D1 and it's better than every rocket launcher in D2. I've run the raid and Eater of Worlds a lot. I've run Spire of Stars once. I don't see any point in it as it's simply not fun and for what? A sidearm? A fusion rifle that's worse than 90% already in the game? Escalation protocol. 7 waves of the hardest enemies the game has to offer for a miniscule chance of getting a trash sniper rifle or SMG?! If that shotgun is the best reward this has to offer that says everything doesn't it? PvP is worse than it's ever been in D1. In D1 we had lag, boy did we have lag. But it tended to stay that way throughout the match. In other words you learned how to adapt to the lag to get kills (unless it was super bad). In D2 the weapon behaviour changes midway through matches. Guns that were taking people out fine will suddenly start missing shots or do much less damage. I've been in games where I'm 20+ kills in and suddenly can't buy a kill for 2-3 minutes. So infuriating. With all that said, I don't hate this game. I actually enjoy it, but it has nothing like the pulling attraction that it used to have. The upcoming DLC doesn't impress me either. It's one thing to show off how great their new changes are in a convention centre that has DEDICATED SERVERS, BUT May be they should have showed it off by having Gambit on p2p with someone from Europe. Yeah, then we'll see how amazing it is!!

Sadly it's still undead. To many Pop-Tart eating idiots out there who still play this crap.

2 RepliesIt caused me to go back to destiny 1 its so much better theres still a decent ammount of players and still weekly stories, nightfall ect and also xur still pops up we should all boycott D2 and go to D1

Activisions cashgrabbing involvement
-
Before you say "failing" you need numbers to back up the claim. Then you need to determine what number is satisfactory for "failing." Maybe find numbers when game released compared to now? This is coming from someone who does weeklies and then stops playing mind you.
-
14 RepliesIt’s not failing though.
-
Lack of decent communication, ambition, and overall care. It’s become a desperate cash grab.

I play and like Warframe a lot, but warframe and D2 are 2 completely different games.
-
2 RepliesDestiny 2 sucks if you play Destiny 1. What happened?
-
5 RepliesWhy do people bring warframe into this? I play warframe all day but that and Destiny are 2 completely different beasts.
-
Because Bungie still refuses to put a damn barber in the tower so we can change our hair and markings...ffs already!!!
-
1 ReplyIt's not.

6 RepliesIs it though? What constitutes "failing"? It currently has 500k daily crucible players. That's a lot of players for a failing game. With the imminent arrival of Forsaken, numbers will go up. It has made a crapload of money. So by what metric is it failing?
-
2 RepliesCompared to Destiny, Warframe is a moist turd on a ceramic plate. Gross.

This isn't Bungie anymore. They should change name. The original Bungie was hijacked and the original game shredded into pieces and now they are a greed based developer. That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

3 RepliesStep one: create a great game Step two: take everything that made the first game great out Step three: sell it back to the consumer for twice the price of the original Step four: wait for the idiots to call it a beta Step five: if someone complains say it not bungie or activison fault that you were stupid enough to throw money at the tv screen Step six: eververse made me do it Step seven: shit happened😜

3 RepliesEdited by P3rfectEnemy: 7/16/2018 12:49:02 AMWorst part of Destiny for me is easily how much data it eats. Many online games are out there but I believe Destiny eats the most data at over 1GB per hour. With net neutrality BS and many ISP’s throttling after a set limit this will negatively affect much of the player base due to p2p. I never really minded the p2p and still don’t, but when people start finding themselves unable to play the game after the middle of every month the outcry for dedicated servers may increase a bit. Edit: one source I found on this. https://www.nbnco.com.au/blog/entertainment/how-much-data-does-gaming-use-through-popular-examples.html

2 RepliesI think the game is failing because they took the wrong lessons from D1, namely those from Crucible and its selling model. In the first game our Guardians felt powerful due to the strength of our gear and abilities, however, those were considered problematic when it came to Crucible. Bungie had a hard time balancing it and simply decided that neutering everything (in both modes to keep it fair) would be the best solution. D1 started out terribly. Short campaign. 1 raid. A couple strikes. Etc. It was lackluster until TTK and RoI dropped. After 3 years Destiny finally got to the point where much of its (remaining) player base was happy. I feel that the lesson Bungie took from that was that its a formula that works. If the base game is eh then just spend the next couple of years dropping DLC to get it to a decent place and hope everyone continues to buy it.

3 RepliesVery simple reasons. 1.) Lack of content. EG Titan is a joke. 2.) Horrible performance. The game is still atrocious on PC, being massively cpu intensive. 3.) Lack of diversity. Everyone is the same, literally. There are no real options in skills. 4.) To much focus on "making money", and not making a good game. 5.) No dedicated servers meaning P2P is easily exploited.
-
1 ReplyOh so very many reasons. Among those already mentioned, for me it was the absolute disrespect for the players’ grind, and the retconpalooza the “narrative” “team” foists on the Lore at every possible opportunity. Bungie doesn’t take their own Lore seriously, doesn’t respect players’s grind, dumbs things down as far as they can... Eh. On the plus side, D2 is so spectacularly bad that it got me into playing other games, so there’s that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
4 RepliesBecause the endgame loot isn't exciting, the entire game is balanced way too hard around a mediocre PvP mode, the guided games system is a mess, and the overall experience of playing D2 just starts to feel unsatisfying rather quickly.

1 ReplyCos it's shit
