What did Prince Uldren do, that he was in the Prison of Elders. I don’t know my lore very well, and was curious

I'm sure the writers have come up with a grand wave of the hand to explain it all away.

My theory is this, although I also like the ideas of him trying to take power, we can guess anything to try and make sense of it. So we know Uldren tried looking for Mara, that's his sister. And considering it was the first thing he thought about after crash landing on Mars he was on a mission to get it done. In the grimiore he senses her(they have a telepathic bond) it was a weak signal but a signal nonetheless. He was determined at this point so he went looking. He also worked towards an alliance with the House of Kings and other Fallen. So we know he's trying to gather his forces. But what if he failed at his task, apparently the Splicers -blam!-ed up everything for everyone. So the Fallen houses while not aligning with the Prince, just formed the House of Dusk on their own. The Prince still needs an army, and you need Barons/Kell levels of authority to command any Fallen. So where's the next big bunch of badasses, in the Prison of Elders. Uldren needed forces so he got them from dangerous criminals, which goes against the opinion of the people guarding and filling it. Cayde-6, a member of the Vanguard. Now to top it all off, what is Uldren trying to do, be evil or big reveal here save his sister? The Dreaming City is the new raid coming up, and is the birthplace of the Awoken. Now when Oryx did his thing, he knocked the Prince to Mars and probably knocked Mara Sov back to the past a la Aku style. In TTK Mara mentions how crazy she was born. Cosmos starbaby, etc. But she says that "I remember everything about the day I was born/I still bear the scars/The Awoken are my family now/And I am their Queen" This helps proves that whatever force birthed the Awoken is inherently friendly , not to mention we still don't know about the Techuens/Harbingers and magic secrets. So my theory is Mara Sov got knocked into oblivion, somehow alive, her essence/self got pulled into The Dreaming City, and while vulnerable and weak probably got nabbed by her creators. Thus Uldren needs a big army to save his sister from their condemned birthplace. That's the theory. Also anyone still pushing for Uldren wanting to power for himself, at least twice in the Grimoire. Mara is stated as commanding Uldren's Crows(his spy drones) and claiming owner ship of them. Uldren confronted her about them spying on the Black Garden and etc, which can just be seen as her being Queen, and having a knack for foreseeing future threats and dealing with them accordingly. The second time The Nine were mad Uldren had crows looking for the remaining wolves in a certain area, and when sending Skolas , said to remind the Nine that the Crows were her's (as if to say, I, the Queen can do what I want. I don't think it holds up for the Prince to hold a grudge for his sister having control over his jurisdiction/underlings. I mean the Crows seemed programmed to obey and do etc for the Queen of the Reef

1 ReplyHe was the one who defiled Sylok.

2 RepliesSome of the biggest nasties in the Solar System. All in One place. There is no real explanation why yet. But Uldren has never really liked or trusted Guardians. Never really agreed with his sisters—-The Queen’s—-decision to ally with us. He also may blame us for the devastating defeat the Awoken took in halting Oryx’s fleet at Saturn. Also—-probably most importantly—-The Awoken are a **matriarchal** society.. Which means that women wield all the power in Awoken society. So he is the social equivalent (in our society) of s princess. IOW he was never going to have any real, direct power in Awoken society as it was. He was high enough in it to know what it looked liked and what it could do..,but never possess it for himself. I think that he saw this as an opportunity to seize some real power and set himself up a warlord of sorts with himself at the head of what is left of The Fallen House of Kings.

3 RepliesI don’t know about you but I would love to be the head of an army comprised of the toughest warriors in the solar system

Edited by Emurinus: 6/13/2018 3:55:45 AMMy idea is that he gave the Fallen inmates a proposal: He becomes their "Kell", and in turn he frees them. It is quite possible that Uldren forced Variks to agree to his ideas, assuming Variks is still around. Cayde is tricked into coming to the Prison and is then ambushed by the Barons, and ultimately dies or is severely incapacitated by Uldren's hand.

Seen a video on it and the theory was that prince bitch went to free the fallen and become a kell and control the house

8 RepliesHonestly, I don’t think many of us know at this point. Even though he supposedly died in The Taken King, we know he crashed on Mars, according to a downed ship in one of the Lost Sectors. Obviously, more will probably be revealed in the actual game, but so far, I don’t know of any motive that Uldren would have to bust the Barons out of prison. The one thing that I can think of is that he was always slightly salty towards us, as we required him to make a key to the Black Garden in D1, but I wouldn’t think that that would be enough to kill a member of the Vanguard. So honestly, we’ll just have to wait and see.(Or, perhaps one of the more lore-savvy Guardians can bring light - no pun intended - to the situation.)

8 RepliesHe wasn’t in it. According to the grimoire, after the battle with Oryx, his ship crash landed on Mars (as we see they showed in the Warmind DLC Lost sector). As to why he is doing this, it is unclear. He was never a fan of the guardians to begin with. And it could be possible he blames us for Mara Sov’s death (if she is dead). And he could be using his influence on the Fallen to carry out his supposed revenge. But it is just a theory and only time will tell.

Uldren never agreed with the deal that Mara and Eris made so he is blaming us for her potential death. Just think of cayde and his prison of elders as collateral damage. We are his real target

9 RepliesI don’t think he was in the Prison, more than likely he’s the one breaking everyone out, WHY he would do that though I don’t know
